the Lib Dems just won Stow on the Wold back from the Tories.

It seems everything is biased if it doesn't agree with JC.

that's just a kop out and means nothing.

If the results in by-elections and council elections we replicated on a mass scale, JC would be elected in 2020.

Both of those things are currently happening based on real actual results, not biased and weighted polling

Don't forget, JC only has to perform marginally better than Ed Miliband OR the Lib Dems have to smash the Tories.

No he has to perform a lot lot better with boundary changes. He also has to keep hold of the previous Labour voters.

He has to win marginals and he won't.

I live in a Labour stronghold with many swing voters. The demographic of the constituents however it will turn Tory at the next GE if he stays.

of course Corbyn can win, in fact based on all the actual by-election and council election results since Corbyn took charge of the Labour Party the results have been relatively good.

Of course he can't win.

His polling is through the floor (oh and polls historically over estimate Labours position so it's in reality probably even worse).

Council results weren't wonderful and athe least one of those by elections and the London mayoral election Corbyn was kept well away from.

The by elections were also Labour strong holds and good local candidates.

However let's blame the media, it's all their fault...

Corbyn can't win an election therefore I refuse to vote for him even though I agree with most of his policies.

My boss once said to me that we are not voting for politicians we want anymore, just voting for the ones who can do the least harm. That is pretty much how I see politics these days. None of them want to make a change. They just want a job that comes with perks. IMO.

It's a good point, MrsWobble. The vote to leave and consequent collapse of the pound has already made the uk poorer, and a less attractive place to live and work for other EU citizens. So that work is to a large extent done.

I wish I could believe that the likely drop in EU immigration as a result of this would appease anti-immigrant sentiment, but I suspect as prices start to rise relative to wages people will just tend to get angrier and less tolerant.

Galloway seems to have retweeted a tweet suggesting the while helmets had staged the destruction of Aleppo recently. That's not traditional socialism.

Anyway, if it goes to the NEC, surely they are not likely to admit him given he has run against Labour candidates so recently?

Galloway is an old-school socialist firebrand who is an excellent speaker and would really attack the Tories but he is also toxic and self-aggrandising and would just turn off 3/4 of the country and totally overshadow Corbyn and ruin everything for Labour.

reducing UK wages is hardly what JC is for though - his plan to have a 'living wage' and shunt that in quickly might cause living standards to fall overall if unemployment spikes as a result, other than that, he's hardly campaigning to reduce UK wages.

I do believe Gorgeous George returning would be political suicide.

I was talking to dh about the plan to reduce immigration by increasing wages in other countries and pointing out the absurdity of assuming a UK prime minister could do anything to influence/achieve this. But dh pointed out that I am wrong - as it is the relative wages that matter all the uk needs to do is reduce relative uk wages and this is easily done by devaluation. So it is an achievable objective and not just a piece of rhetoric.

i honestly can't muster up any respect for JC at all, he's destroying a party I love and have voted for since I could vote. I'm hoping for an early general election so that he gets his rump handed to him and we can move on. DH and I will either not vote, or vote non-labour as any labour vote will be crowed over as a 'victory' for him.

It is all over Twitter, Claig. Respect was de-registered recently. Corbyn has apparently said it will go to the NEC. Corbyn congratulated Galloway in 2012 when he beat a Labour candidate in Bradford.

It wouldn't surprise me if Galloway was allowed back and Livingstone will I'm sure be back in the fold soon

As far as the press goes I'd be far more content with column inches on policy so that policy can be widely publicised rather than "ooh he's not wearing a tie"
