Media coverage deliberately biased against Corbyn, British public believes

The public understand the media's game.

There is no fooling the public or the Corbynistas. The usual tactics of the metropolitan elite have failed.

"Perception of unfairness extends beyond supporters of Labour leader"
..
A majority of the British public believe the media is deliberately biased against Jeremy Corbyn and seeking to portray him in a negative light.
..
Women in the Labour selectorate were more likely to believe the coverage was biased than men and older people in the group were also more likely to believe it had been deliberately biased "

What is the Establishment, Claig? And what do you think happens to a country once its establishment collapses?

claig · 06/09/2016 22:09

'Let me get this straight. JC believes in some form of inner/magic circle pulling the media strings in order to prevent "the establishment" being undermined by himself, Nigel Farage and Donald Trump.

And he's said this in public?'

Not quite. I will quote what he said.

"Corbyn calls for Westminster 'magic circle' to be broken

The "magic circle" of Westminster needs to be broken and the views of "ordinary people" heard, Jeremy Corbyn has said in the final leadership rally before the ballot papers are sent out.
...

The crowd cheered as he said workers in factories, call centres and local authorities had "ideas" on how to change the economy, but were "frustrated that nobody is listening to them".

The principle of democracy has to be ground up.

It is about breaking open this magical circle of Westminster, some of our great universities, Whitehall and the boardrooms who try to control thinking, control ideas and control the way policy is developed.

– Jeremy Corbyn"

www.itv.com/news/update/2016-08-21/corbyn-calls-for-westminster-magic-circle-to-be-broken/

'I listen to, and read, a lot of political media, and this one bypassed me. '

I think the "magic circle" instructed the media to keep it as quiet as possible because they know that the people would agree with Corbyn 100%.

'Democrates could have had a stronger contender who I am not sure but she has never been hugely popular'

They have got no one. Biden looks too old and tired and didn't want it.

'she will win'

That is what the Establishment across the world are praying for, but my guess is that just like with Brexit, the people will elect Trump and then it is curtains for the Establishment.

Let me get this straight. JC believes in some form of inner/magic circle pulling the media strings in order to prevent "the establishment" being undermined by himself, Nigel Farage and Donald Trump.

And he's said this in public?

I listen to, and read, a lot of political media, and this one bypassed me.

Which suggests that it hasn't been widely reported.

However, I'm fairly certain that if the media were bias against JC, they would have milked that particular story for all its worth. It's priceless! "JC believes in mythical magic circle". "JC to slay magic circle elite". They could make him out to be the next David Icke Grin

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 06/09/2016 22:02

I meant against Hilary

Democrates could have had a stronger contender who I am not sure but she has never been hugely popular

she will win

claig · 06/09/2016 21:54

I think this was Hillary just yesterday

OP posts:
claig · 06/09/2016 21:51

'Trump is different if he was up against a stronger opposition he wouldn't stand a chance. '

He beat the entire Republican Establishment - 16 candidates with the backing of the Wall Street etc.

Hillary's contest was intended to be a walkover but it backfired and shocked the Democratic Establishment because Bernie Sanders, like Corbyn, did so much better than expected.

A lot of Republican commentators are saying that Hillary is ill. There is a video of her speaking just teh other day where she is coughing for minutes. She didn't go to Louisiana after the devastating floods, unlike Trump, and she hasn't been to Mexico, unlike Trump, and some commentators are saying it may be because she is ill.

Trump won the most Republican votes of any Republican in history in the primaries. The "magic circle is lying about Trump's popularity because there is no other way for them to stop him.

On the radio ....

I wasn't in the radio Smile

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 06/09/2016 21:50

I heard that he was in the radio yesterday

I hope she is I think she will win

NotDavidTennant · 06/09/2016 21:33

"he is ahead in the polls"

I don't know if this is a typo, but Clinton is ahead in the majority of the polls and has been for pretty much the entire race so far.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 06/09/2016 21:25

I don't doubt that the issue was with government and mp's not listening to many of their voters and so many feeling they are out of touch. Many people haven't felt they have benefited from us being in the EU and being constantly told they had just supported how many felt

But Corbyn supported remian apparently

There is a change in politics but Corbyn will never be PM he can't even lead the opposition effectively and then of course there is his history of constant rebelling against his party and who he has supported and his friends It just won't happen

He is in the right place for the right time for a while. Trump is different if he was up against a stronger opposition he wouldn't stand a chance. Hilary has never been that popular and right now she is keeping very quiet so he is ahead in the polls maybe it's political game playing I don't know but she needs to get out there more and get in touch with the voters

Kaija · 06/09/2016 20:53

Think a small dose of reality might be helpful at this point

Media coverage deliberately biased against Corbyn, British public believes
claig · 06/09/2016 20:42

I have seen no convincing evidence of such.

freetrampolineforall · 06/09/2016 20:40

Op, what are your views on the royal family being lizards?

claig · 06/09/2016 20:37

This is what it is all about. The "magic circle" and its servants don't want a left wing government that will rock their consensus and staus quo, they want a centrist Tory-lite governemnt.

"Tony Blair says he wouldn’t want a left-wing Labour party to win an election

The former PM says he wouldn't take the 'route to victory' if it was left-wing"

www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/tony-blair-says-he-wouldn-t-want-a-left-wing-labour-party-to-win-an-election-10406928.html

Blair is almost the high priest of Progress and the Labour Fabian progressives. He is looked up to by many of the 172. None of them can believe what has happened, that a real left wing group, Corbyn, Abbott etc, so long mocked and dismissed by the Blairites, is supported by the members rather than them.

The battle between Corbyn and the 172 will shape British politics for years to come and it looks like the "magic circle" is out of spells to turn things around.

What will happen, no one knows, but huge change is inevitable and that is a good thing for the people as a real political alternative will be on offer.

OP posts:
claig · 06/09/2016 20:10

No, I voted UKIP. I am mainly conservative but up for change if it is good and right, like the majority.

All over the world, the "magic circle" is being defeated and the people are beating them. Brexit was an example of it. Their consensus is being destroyed. Trump has destroyed and overturned the Republican consensus on war, on Russia, on immigration, on trade, on jobs, on capitalism and on markets and the Republican people are with Trump and not the "magic circle".

It is the same here. The people were for Brexit and the "magic circle" was for the EU. The majority of Labour seats in the country voted Brexit and yet the 172 are nearly all Remainers. They are out of touch with their own voters, let alone the people. Corbyn has beaten the "magic circle".

The "magic circle" have no supporters left, apart from the 172. The "magic circle" can no longer control the people via the media because everyone can spot the lies and spin. The "magic circle" can only control some of the 172, but that it is not enough against 500,000 Labour members.

We're winning, the people are winning, left and right, we are beating the "magic circle" and its servants.

Are you a member of momentum ?

claig · 06/09/2016 19:28

Yes, I remember the Thatcher era. I supported Thatcher at the time. But times have changed and the people are now against all this privatisation and are swinging back to nationalising rail and the Royal Mail etc.

Society changes in waves and the trend is swinging back towards supporting the people and not the fat cats. That is why we beat the Establishment over Brexit; we ignored their warnings and scares and lies. No one listens to Blair any more apart from the 172. Owen Smith is like King Canute fighting the popular tide of Brexit and the anti-establishment wave that has made him and the 172 irrelevant.

OP posts:
freetrampolineforall · 06/09/2016 19:20

Are you old enough to remember the Thatcher era, op? Because Corbyn and his pals are serving up just the sort of thing to keep the Tories in power for a couple of decades. Millie Tant crap that appeals to no one but themselves.

The truth is not a laughing matter.

'Just checking because I thought they were some self appointed randoms'

A lot of people thought that too, but they were selected by the Labour Party to stand for election as MPs.

OP posts:
freetrampolineforall · 06/09/2016 19:11

OP, you are such a fab wind up merchant- ever thought of a career in stand up?

freetrampolineforall · 06/09/2016 19:08

The 172? These are democratically elected MPs, right? Just checking because I thought they were some self appointed randoms. No wait, those are Corbyn "supporters".

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 06/09/2016 18:42

well he has never really had a proper job and as an MP has spent more time rebelling than supporting his party so all this movement mallarkey is just up his street

People will get bored soon

claig · 06/09/2016 18:41

There is no point Corbyn addressing the 172. That would be like addressing an Establishment brick wall, so Crbyn goes over the Establishment's heads and goes direct to the people, the "movement" as he calls it. That was what the train stunt was probably all about; to show that he is with the people while the 172 probably travel first class.
