I am thrilled. Not interested in the unelectable rhetoric tbh. I voted for an opposition leader. His electability rests on his actions from now, not on projected credulous nonsense.

Yes, they will say he is a security risk, dangerous etc But I don't think the people will fall for any of it.

They won't be able to play their usual racist card on him as they do with Farage, so they won't be groups of people with placards shouting him down as a racist, which is usually their best trick.

Amazing support that JC got in all sections of the party: members, affiliates and supporters.

Labour MPs should realise this support and get behind their leader. Leaders gave to make unpopular decisions and can't always go by concensus. Leaders need to lead and not always follow popular opinion.

Unions should learn not to strike in essential services, like health and transport. JC might need to stay away from fat earning McCluskey types. They are confrontational and would only add humiliation to Labour and JC.

Emily Thornberry coming across well. Hope she makes a comeback and works for Corbyn.

It saddens me to think of the dirt that they're inevitably busily trying to dig up on him and his family though - he mentioned that in his speech. Urging the press to leave his family alone - but they almost certainly won't.

Good point. I am sure Labour will now win it. I am not sure Corbyn will still be leader by that time. He may want to hand over to Watson, I am not sure. I hope he doesn't hand over because he is a remarkable person of hoinesty, decency and integrity such as we have not seen for years. No one else in Labour comes near to how naturally decent he is and that will win over the naturally decent British people. All of the base attacks of the Tories against a decent man like Corbyn will just increase his popularity with the decent British public.

Absolutely. It is going to be very uncomfortable for Cameron. Corbyn will ask questions that put him on the spot. Corbyn is not a mate of the Tories, he is a real socialist, he will really challenge them.

I think that's the thing - all the people saying JC is unelectable as PM are kind of missing the point of the purpose of the opposition. It's not all about aiming for the GE, it's about what you do in between as well.

Yes, this is why Corbyn will win the General Election. I haven't voted Labour for years and years and I am anti most of their politically correct spinners, but I am excited by Corbyn and there must be many non-Labour voters who feel the same.

There would not be such interest in a Tory leadership election because all of the people know that the Tories work for the City and their billionaire mates and not for the people. The people knew that the Blairites were exactly the same. But everybody in the country knows that Corbyn is for the people and that is why there is this excitement, because Corbyn gives people hope, as SiencynArsecandle said, that someone will fight for us and be on our side for a change.

The thing is, yes people have memories of how the Labour party got it wrong in the past. The Conservatives have got many things wrong in the past as well.

Labour thought the May 2015 election was in the bag, but at the end of the day, I think many people vote for personalities not policies. I couldn't bring myself to vote for Milliband. He might be a nice guy (actually believe he's come across well since his defeat), but I didnt want him as PM.

Whatever government is in power, things have to be paid for, simple as that and I remember a certain Government going cap in hand to the IMF for a loan

Still, honeymoon period for JC at the moment, hard questions will be asked and he has to show that he can be trusted with the economy

Personally, I'd vote for him as PM.

No it was exciting when Blair was elected as he had a realistic chance of winning an election. Corbyn has none. The champagne corks will be popping at Conservative HQ.

I'm a Labour voter, life-long. I won't be voting Labour next election - I'm certainly not going to support an IRA apologist.

My dad was a very strong socialist but I have never voted Labour in my life. However, I will now be joining the Labour Party as we actually have an opposing view to the right wing 'Im alright Jack' policies that are devouring the country. I have seen my family torn apart and sent to the brink of suicide and poverty due to disabilities since the Tories came to power, and the thought of having to wait until 2020 to get rid of them fills me with fear. However, there is now someone fighting for us, the normal people, the non Oxbridge educated, non 'normal' people. Happy Days

It was exciting when Blair was elected leader if the party because he was credible and passionate. This is a million times more exciting as he's credible passionate and most importantly right! He doesn't just want power, he wants power to make peoples' lives better.

There was a brilliant YouTube clip where all 4 candidates were on some show, and the presenter asked them what they would do with Ed Milliband if they were elected leader. All the other 3 just fudged and dodged - used answers learned straight from 'How to be a politician, Chapter 1 - How to avoid a question'.

JC just straight up answered the question.

That's what people want - someone who straight up answers the question.

No more pretence, no more acting, no more spin - just pure honest sincerity and integrity.

It's exactly that - to hear JC cut through the crap and the spin and just say what he thinks was so refreshing. And the fact that he hasn't waded in to any of the mudslinging throughout this campaign shows his integrity.

People are sick of the same old clones. That's why I've never voted Labour, they're all the bloody same. I want real people who actually believe in something.
