Could somebody explain why Corbyn shouldn't be voted for as Labour party leader?

It's very difficult to know what the Labour Party stand for. They have offered very little opposition to the conservatives at a time when the Tories could only govern in coalition.

Corbyn may split the Labour Party, but many people must be wondering why that would be a problem.

If any of the other candidates were electable they wouldn't be challenged by Corbyn.

Shame about the largest Labour defeat in the post-war era, though. There was no lack of real beliefs and clear aims there: unilateral nuclear disarmament, withdrawal from both the EEC and NATO, mass nationalisation. I wonder why people rejected it?

Where does Corbyn stand on the EU, by the way? He campaigned in the 1980s to leave.

The Labour Party (and all other political parties) need to forget about "this will make us electable/unelectable" and focus on what they actually believe in.

THIS is where they went wrong in the last election- no one wants to vote for a party chasing votes which changes its mind about what it believes in on a whim. Where you don't know where they stand and their only real aim is 'to get elected'. We want political parties with real beliefs and real and clear aims. The electorate needs a choice about who to vote for and parties that believe in things. Vote Chasing is what looses votes IMO.

That was a bad interview, and the first time he was pressed on anything like that, in depth.

Corbyn stuck in the 1970's only 'engages' using old socialist mantras youngster now think are 'new', when those ideas/policies not only failed in the 1970's - the memory of those 1970's to people like me back then in my 20's thinking there was no future for the UK - then kept Labour out of power for 18-years.

This is not a 'scare story' from a Conservative voter who would luv to see Corbyn elected and see Labour's have daily internal bun fights competing with the Chimps Tea Party at Whipsnade Zoo, it is modern history, LOOK IT UP.

Gosh, why so many ridiculous statements. There are plenty solid reasons to not vote for JC without making weird stuff up.

I love his passion, and he's the only candidate talking about the environment. But these are a few reasons I won't be voting for him.

He's a serial rebel against his own party & won't command loyalty or discipline.

I don't agree with free tuition fees (it's a very regressive policy that benefits the affluent far more than the poor).

If you look at the balance in the world of who has Nukes, Britain is one of the few good guys, I don't want one of the few Good Guys to stop having nukes (so I want Britain to keep Trident).

The Living Wage idea is flawed because it will choke the economy (sorry). I like a minimum wage concept but the LW is scary if you understand economics. I like the staggered youth minimum wage because it helps kids like mine get first jobs.

I seriously think that meeting the IRA in parliament a couple of weeks after the bombing was, if I was being generous, misguided. People lost loved ones, Co workers. Whatever your political views are it wasn't the best timing.

Even if he disagrees with each point surely if he wants to be leader of the opposition and a future PM he needs to engage and respond to mainstream media questioning of his policies and positions.

I think Alistair Campbell's 'anyone but Corbyn' says it all. Corbyn may not be electable, but neither are any of the other candidates if their big draw is that they aren't Corbyn.
