"#ThanetRigged: Thanet South 'Fraud' Probe In Seat Where Nigel Farage Was Defeated In The General Election
...
Police are looking into an allegation of electoral fraud in Thanet South, the seat which Ukip's Nigel Farage failed to win on Thursday night.

Mr Farage lost out in the General Election to the Conservatives' Craig Mackinlay who racked up 18,838 votes to Mr Farage's 16,026.

Claims of suspicious behaviour surfaced following a lengthy delay in declaring the seat's results at Margate's Winter Gardens."

Claig .... re your "Are they UKIP through and through or are some of them Establishment?"

I'd say ex Tories and Oxbridge graduates getting through are the least of UKIP's internal problems;
”Ukip official in charge of vetting candidates admits he spends half his time 'weeding out the lunatics'
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2873508/Ukip-official-charge-vetting-candidates-admits-spends-half-time-weeding-lunatics.html

As for Farage being so 'anti establishment', anyone who is likely to try an eighth time to become a Westminster MP and looking to feather his own bed, may not quite be the revolutionary you still think he is - and wasn't that one of Patrick O'Flynne's points?

'So he knew he would never actually resign as leader?'

I don't know. My guess is that the millionaires who have put money into UKIP said get back out there and take it to the Establishment, we didn't put money into this for nothing. They know very well why UKIP is popular and it is because of straight-talking Farage. The politically correct crowd that is challenging him wouldn't win half the votes that Farage can pull in. With them at the helm, UKIP would be finished and that is exacly what the Establishment hope for.

'it is in UKIP's hands, not the Establishment if they decide to implode'

Don't you understand that the ex-Tories and Cambridge graduates who are challenging Farage have omly been in the party for a few years? Farage has been in it for years. They are Johnny-come-latelys. Are they UKIP through and through or are some of them Establishment?

The van had been parked all day outside the mechanical elephant on the sea front and the Margate population couldn't decider whether the driver was just inebriated or dead

Isitmebut · 14/05/2015 10:09

Claig ... again, sooooooo many words that basically agree with me, it is in UKIP's hands, not the Establishment if they decide to implode.

The media 24-hour news cycle have loads to focus on with all political parties at the moment, this self obsession that the UK revolves around UKIP, is exactly that.

Sort your own 'stuff' out, as other political parties are sorting theirs - even the Conservatives, who have a small matter of an EU Referendum to get to, with pre negotiations within the EU, the media can't wait to jump all over.

Seffina · 14/05/2015 10:04

"he fooled them"

"He didn't say for how long he would resign"

So he knew he would never actually resign as leader? He knew that they wouldn't accept it? Does that not make it a fake promise?

I don't care, politicians lie and make promises they don't intend on keeping all the time, but Nige made such a point that he wasn't like that. But it seems he is just like the rest of them.

claig · 14/05/2015 09:36

The Establishment care about UKIP.

"Labour's loss has been UKIP's gain"
...
"Where Labour speaks at people, UKIP, with Farage to the fore, speaks to them. And in doing so, it shows how far removed the party-political establishment, and Labour in particular, is from, as Mann puts it, ‘the real world’.

In this, this slow-mo conquest of Labour’s one-time social constituency, this ability to speak to people and promise to take back what Westminster has taken, UKIP’s rise has an unexpected echo: the Scottish National Party. Yes, the SNP is pro-EU, and doesn’t like cigarettes or booze – both of which would have Farage turning in his political grave. But the parallels are there. Both parties, rhetorically at least, resist the ceaseless cosmopolitanism of a distant elite, and both play upon a sense of cultural imperilment. The Tories may have won the election, but the political shift is not Conservative – it’s something rather more populist than that."

'then UKIP shouldn't give it to them'

Farage doesn't want to, but here will be plots from withn UKIP and the Establishment will rub its hands and the media will encourage it to continue.

It's an existential battle. The politically correct crowd feel they have Farage on the ropes. The Establishment are holding their breath and hoping this may be the end of Farage and the insurgency.

They hoped Farage was gone, but he fooled them, now they hope a politically correct rebellion may topple or weaken him. But I think the millionaire backers and UKIP voters prefer Farage.

"However, the Conservative joy at having “cut off the serpent’s head” was somewhat tempered by suspicions that the Ukip beast may still prove to be a hydra."

Claig .... re your "Absolutely, but it is one the Establishment want."

If true, and I'm not convinced they care a cows fanny 5-years from the next general election, then UKIP shouldn't give it to them - don't blame 'the Establishment' for the needs of alpha males in politics, within their own party.

Speaking of snakes and Boris, I'm not a fan as leader and doubt he can keep his trouser snake where it should be until Cameron steps down.

'Personally when I see Patrick O’Flynn on TV he doesn’t come across as trustworthy; indeed he always scowls and looks to me as if measuring up those around him for his next meal, but call me bias, I think UKIP has a few of them e.g. Tim…. whats-his-face?'

I think that is a fair assessment.

'To me UKIP needs talent balance, as Farage cannot do it all himself'

Alas, that is true.

'my money would be on Farage coming out as winner'

We all hope you are right.

'it's a fight they really don't need'

Absolutely, but it is one the Establishment want.

The ‘cult of Farage’ has long been talked about outside UKIP circles, but when your campaign spokesman speaks out, it’s not a good internal sign.
www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/nigel-farage/11179456/Of-course-Ukip-wont-condemn-its-racist-new-partners-because-Ukip-is-the-cult-of-Nigel-Farage.html

Personally when I see Patrick O’Flynn on TV he doesn’t come across as trustworthy; indeed he always scowls and looks to me as if measuring up those around him for his next meal, but call me bias, I think UKIP has a few of them e.g. Tim…. whats-his-face?

Farage recently has kept mentioning how hard he has worked for 20-years on project UKIP, its 24/7, his family has suffered, yada yada yada ….

In a past professional life in the office I’d see that as someone trying to get over how indispensable they are and wonder exactly who are they trying to convince, their boss (in this case the electorate), or themselves.

In Farage’s case, surrounded by mainly Tory rejects, it is an unfortunate (for UKIP’s future), that 'in the land of the blind, the least swivel eyed man is king.'

To me UKIP needs talent balance, as Farage cannot do it all himself and those beneath him will want more recognition and it needs to be addressed, but internally, and you’d think you communications expert might understand that.

What with O'Flynn and Carswell challenging Farage so openly, a little u-kipper earthquake is coming and unless Farage has health issues, my money would be on Farage coming out as winner - but for UKIP as a whole needing to keep their EU Referendum pooh together in order to look relevant, its a fight they really don't need. IMO

claig · 14/05/2015 00:02

There is rebellion within UKIP. The politically correct crowd are having a go at Farage. This is an existential crisis. If Farage loses out to them, it's over.

Et tu Patrick?

"Nigel Farage has become a "snarling, thin-skinned, aggressive" man who is turning Ukip into a "personality cult", the party's campaign chief has said in a blistering attack on his leader"

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/ukip/11604319/Ukip-campaign-chief-launches-blistering-attack-on-Nigel-Farage.html

It's anything but dull in the people's party.

OP posts:

Yes, millionaires have put money into UKIP and they want the best person possible to lead UKIP and take it to the Establishment. Farage s not politically correct like most of the rest of them, that is why he is the best one to shake them up.

It looks like some of the politically correct UKIP MEPs might be turning on Farage. If Farage loses, the Establishment wins. The UKIP voters are hoping Farage will rout them.

What the Voice of the People is saying is: "Look at that frightful ass Spode swanking about in footer bags! Did you ever in your puff see such a perfect perisher?"

Isitmebut · 13/05/2015 23:32

Claig .... the followers of 'the cult of Farage' would allow the man to pee in their pints if he wanted; its those currently not voting for UKIP he needs to win over/convert to Westminster seats.

Look it was clear to anyone with half a brain that Farage was coming back to re apply for UKIP leadership, after honoring his word spending a 'decent' time as a simple UKIP MEP - with the ability at any time to speak, as one of the simple U-kippers. lol.

And as an ex City 'my word is my bond' he knew that, so there must have been a bit of panic within UKIP for not allowing him time, from directionless senior people, financial backers, even a threatened coup from one of your MP's - so there is the real Thanet story. IMO

claig · 13/05/2015 23:08

'Farage has not set a very good UKIP standard of even personal accountability'

But UKIP voters were happy about Farage's change of mind. It was only in Westminster that the mood was gloomy.

OP posts:
Isitmebut · 13/05/2015 23:04

claig .... you appear fraud shifty to concerned, as well as resignation tricksy " he didn't say for how long he would resign" - as 'there's no smoke without ..... a pint', or something like that.

Everyone knew UKIP is a one-man-pony-party, so it was totally irresponsible for him to promise to the rest of us, he'd leave if failed for 7th time to get into Westminster - as it proved to some of us, that the electorate CAN spot a dodgy prospective MP. lol

Seriously, for someone who has lectured on the accountability of elected MP's, Farage has not set a very good UKIP standard of even personal accountability, when not elected.

claig · 13/05/2015 23:04

'He should write a book, shouldn't he?'

He's already wrtten a book called "The Purple Revolution" and it is selling out faster than hot cakes or fruitcakes as far as I am aware. I am told that the political class are studying it closely.
