I get annoyed with PIL. He votes Tory because he's ignorant and deluded. She votes Tory just because he does. Waste.

I am getting worried that the "shy Tory" effect might be even stronger with "shykippers". I really hope not but I think perhaps there will be more ukip voters than the polls suggest.
I wouldn't be surprised if my Dad voted UKIP but he's a sexist, offensive arse. I wouldn't be annoyed because he knows what they stand for and has made an informed choice, just not one I agreed with. If my mum, who would never agree with UKIP's policies, voted for them because she hadn't bothered to find out what they stood for I'd be irritated. Voting is important and it takes 10 mins to quickly Google the main points of each party's manifesto.

I agree with the majority of what my chosen party has in their manifesto. For me, it was a tough decision between three because, ultimately, there were areas I agreed and disagreed with in each. But I will vote for the party that most aligns with my own views and beliefs and with their focus on areas I am considerably more interested in tackling.

Aye, it's when those beliefs are at odds with the overwhelming scientific understanding that you start to worry about implications for public policy.

It's all about balance. I disagree with quite a large proportion of UKIP policies and agree with the large majority of my chosen party's policy.

I can't understand how someone would vote for ukip while having no idea of what any of the policies are. Mind boggling. Too bad your mum didn't at least spend a couple of minutes googling before she cast her vote but let's hope she doesn't live anywhere where ukip have a real chance.

Moomin, Shabba was not talking about your mum, she was talking about the OP's mum and I think that Shabba is right that OP's mum knew why she wanted to vote UKIP but didn't want to argue about it or be called names over it. She is probably a shykipper, people who vote UKIP but don't admit it.

They will scrap equality laws, apparently UKIP don't need them as they are colour blind as a party.

I said it before a week or so ago and everyone said I was talking nonsense but a lot of people are going to vote ukip even if they don't admit it (I can't stand ukip by the way). We live in a rural south norfolk village and my husband works for a large retail shop and talks to a LOT of people and everyone he's talked to about it are very pro ukip, mainly it seems because we are a very high immigration area.

I think when the results come out people are going to be very shocked how well ukip have done. They have become the new "third" parry and the lib Dems have slipped off the net.
