My mum has voted ukip :(

She's already voted by post. Everyone has the right to vote for who they like and I'm glad she's actually voted because she doesn't always. But she doesn't have any interest in the election and has no idea of anyone's policies, she said she chose ukip because she'd heard them mentioned more and thought it might be a nice change. I mentioned some of their policies and she was really surprised and said she'd have chosen someone else if she'd known.

What worries me is that quite a large proportion of the voting population will think like this and just vote for the party they've heard more about.

I am aware that in starting this post I have mentioned them again Grin

I would never vote UKip but I can see why some people would.

The blame for all of this lies at the doorstep of the Labour Party.

They let 3 million immigrants into our borders, that's without lord knows how many illegals or terrorists.

They bleat about the NHS yet let's not forget the West Staff Hospital in which 1400 deaths happened. Under Labour's watch.

Rotherham Council anyone?

They took us into two wars.

They left no money in the pot and even had the cheek to leave a note telling us so when they left office.

I fucking HATE the Labour Party. A useless bunch of incompetent and lying cunts.

The thought of a Labour-SNP coalition made me think about UKIP, but in the end I voted Tory instead. (Matters not one jot here as our seat is staunch Tory)_

The problem with UKIP is people are so brainwashed by political correctness that they support parties like Labour who for 10 years let Asian paedophile gangs lose on their children, due to not tackling it for political correctness reasons.

And they are so worried offending anyone, and run a programmed script to say its great that millions of people from other continents wash up on the shores of the European countries changing them beyond recognition.

They run a programmed script celebrating this saying "To say no to this would be racism" "Those people are blaming everything on immigrants" "we are traditionally a nation of immigrants" (a complete lie) "change is good" "We must all be part of the transformation".

If they don't say it, they are thinking it.

Plus most people are so simple and ignorant (true ignorance as in lack of knowledge not the cultural Marxist "bigot" definition of ignorance), they cannot grasp that Tory and Labour are running 100 - 200 Bn budget deficits each year regardless of what they say, and this is going to take our country into oblivion eventually.

the only good aspect about UKIP, is that they are not left wing.

I don't think they have any redeeming features, but in their 'makeover' between the last election and this, I would say they are, bizarrely, pretending to have some socialist tendencies, to make themselves attractive to the left as well as the far right.

I don't think the vast majority of you know anywhere near enough about politics or economics, or the climate to vote for any party.

How about this for staggeringly ignorant comment

I can't believe people think UKIP have created a 3 party system. The Lib Dems have always won (and will win this time, I think) more seats than UKIP.

This election is closenot because of UKIP, but because:
a) There are now 4-5 major parties (i'm voting Green y'all, just to encourage them a bit because where I live Labour usually gets in with around 90% of the vote!). This makes the votes a bit more spread out over the different parties.
b) The 2 major parties have become closer in their policies
c) The Conservatives (much I dislike them) haven't MAJORLY messed up as they have done in the past so it can't be a landslide for Labour.

If we have a hung parliament, it won't be because of UKIP.

I can hardly find anyone who isn't voting UKIP.

Ashcroft did a poll around here and all I can think is that people lie to pollsters. On the bus, at work, in the park can't find anyone who would vote tory or labour.

Loofah, no I don't imagine many voters agree with 100% of policies in their chosen party's manifesto. 80 or 90% is probably the norm.

Still no excuse for voting UKIP tho'

Mintyy i asked the question about all voters, whether they agree with everything in the policies. The answer from other parties was also that they agree with the majority of the policy, not just UKIP voters. Which was my point entirely. People who vote UKIP may not agree with everything, likewise the other parties.

SomethingFunny that's exactly it, i find it sad that my mum (and presumably lots of other people) voted without thinking about who she was voting for or knowing any of their policies. She's not stupid, she's just completely uninterested in politics.

My dad always votes Conservative, I don't agree with most of the Conservative policies and would never vote for them myself but my dad knows their proposed policies and votes for them because he believes they'd represent him well, which is great.

My mum doesn't have a clue who I'll be voting for, she isn't in the slightest bit interested, she didn't know how anti-ukip I was until she told me she'd voted for them, so she's not a 'shykipper' if you're ashamed of who you're voting for why the hell are you voting for them??

It is very sad that people do something as important as voting without researching what/who they are voting for. It's not about being clever, it's about taking voting seriously.

I would rather people DIDN'T vote than just voted for X party because X was their favourite colour.
