I've just done a political 'what party to support' survey and I'm horrified!

80% Green. Pleased with that
20% UKIP. Not so pleased with that- it was for welfare too

No Bnp here

But

I found the results for my constituency interesting as its always been staunch Tory, but Labour came out top.

I was 44% Ukip
33% labour

And 11% lib/11%tory

Haven't done survey - just not surprised that the minor parties (Greens, BNP, UKIP) are doing well - as someone said up thread - they are unlikely to get into power so they can have fairyland policies...a bit like what has happened to the Lib Dems now they have some power...
(Aside here - one of my personal annoyances this - and not saying this is true of anyone here - just the idea that because you are not white/an immigrant you can't be racist - all 'races' can be intolerant of others - one of the most shockingly racist interactions I have have heard -years ago now - was an argument that started over a bathroom refit between my ex-landlady (of black Caribbean origin) and a plumber (apparently I found out - of black African origin)....
Finally most people have no idea what the policies are of the people they vote for ...I remember in 1997 a flatmate of mine saying he was going to vote for Tony Bleurghhhhh. Asked him why and he said because he thought he (young, educated, single, no responsibilities....earning 30k+ as a trainee then) should have free eye tests ... and under Labour they would be free.... Are you sure that is one of their policies ? It will be if they get into power

I got 22.22% each for Labour, Greens, UKIP and Lib Dems, with 11.11% for Conservatives. No BNP thank god. Doesn't help me much when voting though, does it . In my constituency Labour is in the lead, very closely followed by Green Party.

22% Labour which is what I actually voted -Immigration & Welfare
11% Green - they got me on education

It was really interesting, it also drove home that sometimes voting "for" can be as much voting "against"... also that anyone can look good on paper it's whether they deliver on these promises.

We need the Mumsnet Party - as with a mix of the cherry picked best policies we could really sort this shit out.

Can't remember the numbers but I came out clearly Green last time I did this survey. Sadly the Greens are in no way represented in my part of the world.

I wish they had more oomph as party; would get bigger and become an actual viable option somewhere other than Bristol. I hate all the other parties with a passion.

I agree that it should let you weight your opinions.

Not just "which do you prefer" but also "how strongly do you prefer it".

I did one that just gave a single party as the result and weirdly it was UKIP!

However I would never vote for them as I do not like/trust on a gut level any of the members I have heard speak.

I live in a Tory constituency where Labour might stand a chance of getting back in next time. Not a chance that the Greens or Lib Dems (especially now) will win the seat.

I was 44% green, 38% UKIP and the rest split equally between Labour and the Lib Dems. Surprised me. I am an immigrant (in another country) and for the EU.

I think that the Greens have proven, with Caroline Lucas, that they can field strong candidates well worthy of their place in parliament. Are they ready to run the country? Of course not. Are they ready to have more MPs? Absolutely!

The trouble is, despite the fact that so many of us like their policies, I think the same is sadly true of the Greens.

66% Green, with 11% each Lib Dem, UKIP and Conservative. Latter doesn't suprise me, despite being a rabid lefty there's bound to be some things I agree with them on.

BUT I think shows why Labour are struggling - I'm pretty sure I'm not the only tribal labour voter who doesn't identify at all with the London/intellectual/policy wonk centric bunch who run them now.

Luckily I live in Wales so I can vote Plaid

What any party says in their manifesto isn't necessarily a good reflection of where they will put their effort (and how effectively) if in power. Just... No! I think the main parties are becoming too same-y & the others are too obsessed with one issue. None of the parties seem to represent me. Maybe I should start my own. We could change the world!
