I don't think complimentary is being unpleasant, just truthful about the number of copies of the Guardian left in her post office. I have heard her say this many times . complimentary is a very amusing poster, guaranteed to liven things up.

LFN. Keep posting! Your posts are very informative, particularly when you write of the demise of the Guardian! It's losses are only 33 million? I'm surprised this little North London rag exists at all! It only has a readership of some 175.00 a day! compared to the Daily Mails 2.5 million.

As I've said before my post office/newsagent only gets 5 copies and there are always two copies left at the end of the day! Long live The Daily Mail, Telegaph and Times!

It's sad if an established, national newspaper goes under no matter what your politics - but I think The Guardian is a long way from that. The Indie, unfortunately, is not.

I saw the Guardian being malicious this week about families with disabled children losing money. They were highlighting how many will be stuck in poverty.
Is that malicious? Or should they be doing what the Mail does and accuse disabled people of being faking scroungers?

I'm not 'confusing' anything. I was a journalist for 10 years and read the DM every day as part of my job. Sadly.

The best on Fleet St? I found it had/has a very poor reputation in the industry and does not attract genuinely talented writers. The tabloids have far better subs, too.

Don't get me started on Femail. Vile.

BTW all newspapers are making job cuts and have been for about three years.

you're confusing the website with the newspaper - the website is hugely popular but it's all about speed - being first to get a showbiz story up - and, yes, the standard of writing is pretty poor. It gets large international traffic and most people are reading the showbiz content. So, effectively, it's an entertainment site.

The standard of writing in the newspaper is not poor though - in fact it's probably the best on Fleet Street - and, yes, I do work there but I say that having also worked for: The sun, News of World , Observer and S.times too.
