25k for access to Nick Clegg

Can't believe cash for access is still going on tbh. So corrupt.

Agree with Chil: 'I'm more concerned about sponsors that bypass schemes, send a far bigger cheque and get to meet the team on a less formal basis'.

Imagine a democracy that didn't rely on bribes 'sponsors'. Imagine each political party got the same amount of money from the tax payers and wasn't allowed a single penny more from anyone else ... I know this has been suggested before, but it would really clean up politics, wouldn't it?

(big business will always sign up ex Ministers.)

we are a GREEDY country at the top. I suppose excessive pots of dosh are a sort of addiction

A well known Rugby international says it all the time

I suppose there can be tax considerations for what the rich say publicly

AS much as I find it distasteful I am far more worried about Murdoch and his toxic influence, worse still he is not even a UK citizen.

I suppose at least it's up front. Every party relies on financial contributors and there's this peculiar idea that the contributions should be made in a semi-altruistic fashion.... no rewards expected beyond the warm glow of being on the side of righteousness. At least this scheme is saying what your £25k will get you. I'm more concerned about sponsors that bypass schemes, send a far bigger cheque and get to meet the team on a less formal basis.

I suspect this isn't confined to the Lib Dems. IIRC the Tories have various clubs you can join and the more you pay, the better the access. And I imagine Labour do something similar (although possibly less overt).

Not Right At All. Probably explains why they are so cowardly towards the banks and big business.

I can't get access to Nick Clegg. I would certainly have some things to say to him, but I can't meet him to say them. If I had 25k, then I would be able to.

I met and talked to Nick Clegg for free thanks.

And iirc he still tours the country meeting everyone/anyone for free.

Sounds like spin to me.

It must be Clegg's 'new type of politics'. Ironic that he makes such a fuss about internships, but is quite happy for the rich to buy influence.
