Oh no,no,no.

It's under the name of Mary Jenkins.

That's the Mary Jenkins who had her children privately educated and is doing everything she can to thwart free schools.

One rule for the masses, another for her eh?

(Story in Mandrake in The Daily Telegraph today. Can't find online.)

This is the politics of envy. This woman has earned her money. Surely socialists like moondog and finger should leave her alone.

What beanlet said

Far more relevant is the Guardian's ginormous tax avoidance, Polly Toynbee's hypocrisy, her colossal carbon footprint flying to her Tuscan villa, etc.

The Guardian is worse than garbage. Even throwing it away is too good for it. The best thing you can do with a copy is to burn it. If the Government would clamp down on GMG tax avoidance, just like the Guardian say they should to other, non-Guardian-related, companies, and cut all public-sector advertising to them, then Rusbridger, Toynbee, Ashley and all the other Guardian fat cats will get what they have always deserved.

I truly detest the Guardian, and Polly Toynbee most of all amongst its writers. But her using her maiden name for a planning application isn't amongst the legion reasons driving my hatred.

Northernlurker · 29/03/2011 23:13

Yes well according to that piece Mary is her given name and Jenkins the name of her late husband - therefore in fact her name so why shouldn't she use it for whatever she likes. Many professional women do exactly the same. As massive revelations go this is pathetic.

DuplicitousBitch · 29/03/2011 23:08

she is the living embodiment of all that is wrong with the baby boomer generation

moondog · 29/03/2011 23:07

Yes I read that.
Her sense of outrage was hilarious.

my fav polly toynbee article was when she lived as a minimum wage earner for a week and the most defining moment for her was when Peter Mandelson walked past and didn't recognise her 'sob'. ffs i actually think liz jones has more credibility and self awareness

beanlet · 29/03/2011 23:04

Big fucking deal.

Greythorne · 29/03/2011 23:01

moondog
you're at it again
Please come back and play nicely in education where I am sure some newbie Reception mummy is trying to teach her DC to read in contravention of all phonics teaching
You are much nicer over there

I vet all threads for filing accuracy. If I see a "What would you do?" thread in AIBU rather than the WWYD topic I hyperventilate. I patrol the virtual corridors of MN looking for topic miscreants on a regular basis.

I still don't understand the premise of the OP.

moondog · 29/03/2011 22:38

Ah.
You vet the Politics threads now do you, Hassled?

How is this politics exactly?
Link is here. Google was my friend.

I don't understand the premise of the OP. So PT uses private education and dislikes Free Schools - why is the fact she uses an alternative (valid) name in a planning application relevant to anything at all?
Tbh, any enemy of Toby Young is a friend of mine.

cedarcottage · 29/03/2011 22:01

oooh! I just love it when that sanctimonious baggage is caught out! She was caught out on question time last year, when someone commented on her villa in Tuscany...!

Chil1234 · 29/03/2011 19:55

A slightly hypocritical journo bending the rules to suit? The very thought.... Grin
