I am looking forward to the income tax cut. I would say higher rate tax payers are on a pretty large income anyway so they arent going to get a big rise. I think its a good idea though

I agree with that, but it just seems like a hollow gesture - £3.75 a month is not going to excite anyone is it?

Politics is about symbols and emotion as much as facts (often, I really hate this) - but the idea that the assault on people on very decent but by no means outrageous incomes (like £40k) won't go any further is rather appealing.

If you are a higher rate tax payer, £45 isnt exactly a deal breaker is it, so why bother.

According to the Mail, everyone (well, everyone who earns) is going to get a nice income tax cut! £320 for basic-rate taxpayers, £45 for higher-rate.
