carminaburna. When you posted that two social workers could buy a 1 bed flat in Belsize Park on a salary of 120k I jumped for joy! The cheapest I could find was 285k (on Find a Property/Nestoria)for Primrose Hill (proper)1 bed costs on average 385k. No social worker I know could afford either. The estate agents in there sly ways are also calling Fellows Road in Swiss Cottage, Primrose Hill.
One of my freinds lived there in one of the huge council tower blocks!

Complimentary: Senior social workers are on salaries of around 60k - if you're buying with your social worker partner you have a combined salary of 120k - you could easily afford a flat in the Primrose Hill area of London. ( Belsize Park is fairly cheap )

Yes, it is a good paper. There is a lot of good stuff in there. But, like every paper, I think it does have an agenda. How much questioning of global warming is there in the Guardian, unlike the excellent Christopher Booker in the Daily Telegraph.

The Guardian slug, does use long words, and people tell me it's highbrow but luckily for this country hardly anyone reads it! With a circulation as poor as 285.000 a day, it sits comfortably with 'Tunnel Boring' and the Concerete Society Magazines, and both are better reads than the Guardian!

yes slug the guardian does use long words generally misspelt and all of them attacking the people of this country who lice outside Islington and dont work in the BBC or other left wing areas of the arts

I was surrounded by poor people as a child. They were called 'my family'. Now I'm surrounded by wealthy people. It has not changed me, apart from the fact, that I know what it's like to be poor, I would not like to return there! TBH I get on more with working class people, (whatever that means) as they normally are not PC.

I think the Mail has some good writers. But I dislike the papers attitude. (I have been in it a few times.)

PrivateEye is a good read if you are into serious/funny gossip. They also do major investigations.
