I'm appalled by Cameron

I just posted some of this on another thread here but wanted to re-post because I wonder how many others are just utterly appalled by Cameron?

I've never been a tory, but I have to admit I slightly fell for the 'nice guy' stuff before the election. But I'm utterly shocked by his complacency and callousness now.

He made so much out of 'understanding' the needs of the vulnerable and made much of his supposed personal understanding of the needs of carers.

So how on earth can he account for what's actually happening now?

My Dad has chronic multiple sclerosis. My Mum is his carer, she has had a stroke. They have worked all their lives, paid taxes, contributed to their community in many ways.

Through no fault of their own they now need the help SS for basic care.

But the government is washing it's hands of their needs and the needs of countless others. They are trying to blame future inevitable demise of SS care visits on local councils because they refuse to ring fence social care money. Their ideologically fuelled cuts to councils are so extreme that councils will have little choice but to cut social care in many cases.

We (me and my siblings) do what we can to help with my parents' care needs. But we are cracking under the strain.

When we phone SS for more help they say 'not in the economic climate'.

I wish I could tell Cameron to his face how utterly desperate we feel. I wish I could explain how when I am trying to care for my parents and my two young DDs, I feel that something dangerous is about to happen as the demands are too much. We not able to access a multi million pound trust fund as he could to buy care for his poor son.

And to make matters worse, the government are proposing to abolish Disability Living Allowance because it is apparently a 'barrier to work' for people like my parents. So now they are being made to feel like worthless scroungers because they made the 'mistake' of becoming ill.

Meanwhile; if you're a banker, enjoy your second or third home confident in the knowledge that this government won't be doing anything to reign in your greedy excess.

These are bad times and the sooner we can get rid of this lying, complacent, cruel, immoral
government the better. Cameron, I thought you would know better with what you'd been through, but a tory is obviously still a tory. 'All in this together'? What a joke.

IVANHOE.
Anyone who is remotely Labour is vile.

Anyone who is remotely liberal is vile.

Anyone who is remotely Tory is vile.

Anyone who is UKIP is Vile.

Anyone who is Green is Vile.
Shall I go on... Confused
How stupid do these statements sound? and you make them all the time! about the Tory Party, and anyone who supports them or votes for them.

How can you castigate a whole group of people? It just sounds ridiculous and ignorant.

I didn't notice the Labour Party caring for anyone 'but the rich'. Since when did the Labour Party care about the poor? not since the 70's my bet.
The labour Party is one of ruination not aspiration! Anyone who thinks they are any better IMHO is bonkers!

ivanhoe · 31/01/2011 16:57

All Torys are vile. They dont care about the ordinary people. Just the rich.

Feegle · 31/01/2011 16:35

Cameron is vile, but he is behaving exactly as i thought he would.

Tory Government = bad times for the people.
Im not surprised"

PRECISELY.

ivanhoe · 31/01/2011 16:16

""I wish I could tell Cameron to his face how utterly desperate we feel""

Cameron would blame Labour's huge deficit, and then he would sympathise.

But the reality is that Mr Cameron is a right wing Tory, and the right of the Tory party do not believe in the State providing you or anyobody else for that matter, with help.

Beaaware · 27/01/2011 22:48

Totally agree kittykat37 but it's no surprise we have the CONSERVATIVES back in power here is a reminder of just one disaster they tried to deal with back in the 80's:

"BSE IS PROBABLY THE MOST CYNICAL ACT OF BIOLOGICAL WARFARE EVER WAGED AGAINST A CIVILIAN POPULATION BY A WESTERN GOVENMENT"

We are I am afraid back in the dark days of the 80's- 90's Sad

CatIsSleepy · 27/01/2011 19:23

i agree coldtits-it's all too predictable. Am amazed anyone fell for the nice guy act. The tories were always going to take an axe to public services. It is their way, unfortunately.

Looks like they are screwing up the economic recoverytoo, which is nice.

samalexholly · 27/01/2011 19:16

HATE! IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT FOR ME

coldtits · 27/01/2011 13:00

I'm not remotely appalled. That would indicate some level of surprise.

foxytocin · 27/01/2011 12:54

We are the country of Magna Carta.

with respect to the Magna Carta, envoking it here is just knee jerk jingoism.

newwave · 26/01/2011 22:52

The mistake is to think the Tories give a shit, these are not compassionate or caring people.

gotchababe · 26/01/2011 22:42

What have this Government done for anyone other than make massive cuts that are affecting everyone, everywhere.

Society failing in so many ways. Failing our DC/Children, also, we as Carers. When is David Cameron going to tackle this plight that we Carers have to endure on a daily basis. We fight, We struggle, We constantly have to battle for resources that should be readily available, to ease our pressures.

gotchababe · 26/01/2011 22:27

David Cameron should be doing more and addresing the needs and plights of us Carers' My god we save the Government millions. We are human, we are not Robots. We are Crumbling.

longfingernails · 22/01/2011 17:03

Yes, I am suggesting that we pull out of the ECHR.

We don't need Eurocrats lecturing us on human rights. We are the country of Magna Carta.

Why is it any business of a Eurocrat whether prisoners in British jails can vote or not?

Firepile · 22/01/2011 16:31

Council of Europe, not European Council.

Firepile · 22/01/2011 16:30

Are you seriously suggesting that we should withdraw from the European Convention of Human Rights, which we have been signed up to since 1950, LFN? You really are bonkers, aren't you?

The UK simply is not going to make an alliance with Belarus in being a member of the European Council not signed up to ECHR.

And astonishingly, signing up member states to the ECHR through the Lisbon Treaty has more to do with forcing potential new mwmber states to address the parlous state of human rights that pertain in some parts of Europe. And to guard against repeating some of the human rights abuses (or we could just call them genocide and torture if you'd prefer) that made central europe such an unpleasant place to live in the early-mid C20th, or indeed parts of the Balkans in 1990s.

But yeah, that's a bad thing. Obviously.

longfingernails · 22/01/2011 16:15

Firepile, have you read the Lisbon treaty?

Membership of the EU is now conditional on accepting the writ of the ECHR. The two are certainly not separate.

Yet another thing to blame Labour for. Previously, we could have pulled out of the ECHR without pulling out of the EU. Now we can't.

Firepile · 22/01/2011 16:10

Absolutely agree with everyone highlighting the fact that this government is attacking the most vulnerable. It really is, and it is going to get worse.

Just for info to those on the loony right - ECHR is unrelated to membership of the EU, being as it is a body of the Council of Europe, of which Britain was a founder member in 1949.

BeenBeta · 22/01/2011 16:08

Capitalism delivers a lot of the things we enjoy and need. Socialist utopianism doesn't and couldn't.

I used to travel to Romania and deal with the Soviet Union a lot before the Berlin Wall came down. It was truely horrible - some of the worst experiences of my life.

I guess we could hope for a sort of Scandinavian Socilaism but even there the rich are despised and there is an undercurrent of the 'haves' and 'have nots' with exhorbitantly wealthy well connected families on top of society.

Ninjacat · 22/01/2011 15:51

It's a fine show of Disaster Capitalism.

I could happily take a firing squad to the lot of them whilst chanting "Die Tory Scum" and still sleep at night.
