My Nation Wales was badly damaged under Thatcher in the 80's. They are still recovering, or were! Areas in West Wales and the Valleys consistently fall at the bottom of the UK league when it comes to life expectancy,
educational attainment and skills,etc. Some areas were depopulating and were sitting on the edge of viability. The new Tory axe could finish them off completely.
I however live in the South of the country, though better, things are far from good here either, we were looking forwards to some regeneration in the form of Jobs which would have come from the proposed Defence Academy a St Athens, and the proposed Severn Barrage both huge projects that would have generated jobs in other areas too. Both have been axed due to the economic climate, however the economic climate is not that bad that the Government are going to axe the building of 8 new nuclear stations in Bradwell, Essex; Heysham, Lancashire; Hinkley Point, Somerset; Oldbury, Gloucestershire; Sellafield, Cumbria; Sizewell, Suffolk; Wylfa, Isle of Anglesey; and Hartlepool.
Wow ! One in Wales, the only crumb from the Tory Table.

I would never vote Tory, they are too left wing and PC! I'd rather vote UKIP.

Oh yes and the banks join in- if you are wealthy and want to borrow thousands to send your kids through private school, you pay typically less than 6% on that loan. If you are poor and you borrow money, the typical rate is 28- 36%. People at the bottom are borrowing money to hide the fact that their employers are paying them less than living costs - people at the top are borrowing money that makes them more money - typically by investing their money in businessses who make money by paying staff at the bottom too little to live on.. Are you getting it yet??

Re north sea profits - they wouldn't have been extracted at all if it were left solely up to scottish companies..

Tory philosphy involves a massive blind spot. Its much easier to determine your life choices, make sensible decisions, earn more, look after yourself, etc if you have more resources to start with. Most 'survival of the fittest' types recoil in horror if you suggest (as socialists do) that the starting point is equal, which would really determine the fittest and best. What the tories really advocate is 'increased development opportunity for those who already have the resources at the moment, but we'll let some people in who didn't have money to start with as long as they have made enough money to look like one of us (i.e have shafted more people than we thought feasible with our already stacked cards).

Its a buggers muddle it really is. Anyone can choose the job they want and the education they want if they can a) live for free whilst they do so b) get paid a lot when they get there and c) are helped over any difficult patches by the other wealthy people they know.

Choosing to change jobs so you can make a greater contribution when you can't even afford a month off in case you lose the house you have been paying for for ten years, and need to keep relentlessy paying for for another 15, and can't quite get tot he end of the month because you gave in and had breakfast at wetherspoons.

I don't think tories really udnerstand how stacked things are - if you haven't gone to a school that gave you fake 'leadership' experience, that you can't put on your CV EVEN IF YOU HAVE STRONG LEADERSHIP SKILLS you are likely to not be given a leadership role you are paid for until 10 years later.. y which time those who did, will have '10 years professional leadership experience' - when people are working hand to mouth through college and in their first six jobs (typical amongst the low-waged), its hard to then jump to a tory-level professional job EVEN IF YOU HAVE THE QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES so its not all about will, drive, ability, choice etc. It IS for people whose families are constituted of people with spare income every month, but it ISN't for those who don't.

I feel no need to justify the existance of my nation within the United Kingdom to you as, frankly, I couldn't care less if you are unhappy with the Union as it stands.

Sincere apologies if I have offended you by suggesting you may be inclined to vote Tory. I should have known better as I would certainly be very upset if someone suggested that I would do such a thing. I at no point suggested that you may be a fully paid up member however.
