I think that Prescott, Abbott, Ken Clarke and Hague are not speaking-clocks, they are prepared to say what they think and deviate from their pagers. I think that is why the public likes them more than the others, they are more genuine than the rest, inspite of any flaws they may have.

I tend to like genuine people who have integrity. That's why i can't think of many Labour politicians in that category. But I am genuinely surprised that no Labour supporters have mentioned Gove and Osborne, two genuine politicians with undoubted integrity, values which are as rare as hen's teeth on the Labour benches.

I too warmed to Portillo. I saw him on lots of T.V. shows and he seemed to have become warmer, kinder, much less arrogant and human somehow.

I liked Ann Widdecombe until I heard her very shrill and shrieky defense of her expenses as an M.P. Not that she'd done anything illegal mind, I just found her talking in a hyper hysterical about it.

I'm wondering about Boris. Is he really a true Tory? He seems far more maverick to belong to any defined tribe. I like him. I'd definitely have him over for tea and stollen over Ken.

But generally, I think most Tories are numpties who like to suffocate aspiration amongst the British people.

As a Labour voter, I really like Michael Portillo.

Watching Portillo pottering around in empty rail carriages is making me disproportionately happy at 6.30 each weeknight at the moment...

I thought Bob Marshall-Andrews was great. It seemed to me that he had integrity. But I think he is no longer a Labour MP, I think he was defeated by the Tories.

I can't think of any other Labour MPs that are anywhere near him. Inspite of many people disliking Prescott, I thought he was pretty good, if you ignored all his global warming guff. He was very good on the TV programme where he met a young girl from a rough estate. He got on well with her, invited her to the House of Commons, and didn't patronise her. She was very intelligent and appreciated it.

Newyearnewpants. Portillo? are ou sure he'd like you? From what what I hear he'd go for Andrew Neil rather than you!

I also quite like the 'new' Portillo. I never thought I'd say that back in '97 . Boris makes me laugh sometimes, but most of the time I am astounded at his dimwittery.

I don't think there's a single Tory in the current government I'd give the time of day, to, though.
