drug dependant baby, advice needed

EarthMotherImNot · 03/03/2010 15:20

I've been asked to foster a baby expected to be suffering drug withdrawal when it is born next week.

It is years since I've cared for one of these and any advice would be most gratefully received.

Such a touching thread. I only just saw it mentioned in the aibu classic thread and read from start to finish.it takes a lot to make me cry but this has had me weeping.im off work looking after my.sick lo and I think emin must have been a wonderful person to give so much of herself to others. The story of her and her husband and lo is a real testament to the impact foster carers have and is very inspiriring.

Just came across his thread...

Oh my word...What an amazing and inspirational women EMIN was. She touched so many lives. Feeling very humbled.

AlexaAmbidextra · 01/12/2017 23:37

I first read this thread when I joined MN about 18 months ago and sobbed. Have since reread it and sobbed again. What an amazing, truly special woman EMIN was and what a tragedy that she was taken from her family. She gave so much love to ensure better lives for her foster babies. What a wonderful legacy she leaves behind. Mr EMIN was pretty special too.

Just came across this not knowing what to expect.

Oh my.. there are no words. What a truly wonderful human EMIN was. I was in tears pretty much the whole way through and even more so now. The difference her and her dh must have made to all those babies lives, amazing. Thanks

R.I.P EMIN xx

Just read the whole thread. What a truly inspirational woman. All them beautiful babies given the best start because of Emin. I've cried tears of sadness and joy throughout my read and now more sadness.

Emin's family must be so proud of her for being the amazing lady she is.

❤️ 🌹

Just RTFT, tears rolling. What an amazing selfless woman. Absolutely incredible.

DorcasthePuffin · 13/03/2017 23:15

I remember this thread so well - I posted on it (under a different name) because I was about to adopt an addicted baby and EMIN gave me such lovely advice. My dd is now a strong, healthy and beautiful 7yo, and I think - often - about the vital role her foster carer played in getting her through those difficult early months, And then I think of EMIN. Sat here crying. If I could be even one quarter the woman Emin was, it would be a life well lived.
Inspirational.

HoldBackTheRain · 13/03/2017 22:47

Everyone has already said it all but had to comment. Read for the first time, I don't think it will be the last but I hope the next time I read this back I will cry less.

What a lovely woman. EMIN I hope your family are doing well and I hope you're somewhere watching over them, and all the LO's you gave the best start to.
