drug dependant baby, advice needed

EarthMotherImNot · 03/03/2010 15:20

I've been asked to foster a baby expected to be suffering drug withdrawal when it is born next week.

It is years since I've cared for one of these and any advice would be most gratefully received.

Came across this thread not really knowing what to expect, what an incredibly kind, funny and generous women. Heartbroken for your family, your legacy is all those children who you so selflessly took care of and loved 💜

I have just come across this tread too, and began reading as I am an adoptive parent whose lo was with foster parents for their first year. What a wonderful person EMIN was. Sobbed through the end of it. RIP.

I know this thread is old, but I was looking for info on the effects of drugs on babies to try and make sense of my own messed up childhood. Wow.
Then I kept reading and the ending broke me a little.
EMIN was amazing. She gave so many babies their best start in life and I hope Ladybird hears all about her and treasures that letter EMIN wrote for her.

sockittome123 · 22/01/2020 19:30

I don't think this thread will ever stop going.

Amanda, if you're still here, it may have been several years since your mum passed, but the lives she has improved, the hearts she has touched, they just keep on adding up. Everyone who met your mum, either in real life or on this thread, will have had their hearts warmed by her. Your mum deserved eternal life, and I hope that's what she's getting in her heaven.

RIP EMIN.

💔 Couldn't put it better than PPs have but just read full thread for the first time and couldn't leave without saying how moved I was by your amazing story.

Emin your beautiful way with words made this story heartwarming/ heartbreaking all at once. I cried all the way through lovely Ladybird's story and the ending just finished me off.

Your family must be so proud of you, the fact that this thread is still going nearly ten years on speaks for itself. Rest in peace emin, what an inspiration you are🌷

*Just read the whole thread.

I’m so utterly devastated that EMIN lost her fight with cancer. It really does take the best.

Thank you Mumsnet for putting this in classics so that more people can know the good she did whilst she was here.

RIP angel*

This poster said it better than I could. RIP EMIN. You showed exactly what matters in life and I hope that your family know how many hearts you have touched. Not only the foslings, but all those of us who have read this too. I cannot imagine how overwhelmingly proud of you your family must be. People like you are the true heroes in this world. You are an inspiring woman, wherever you happen to be now, though I am sure it is watching over all those you have loved and given a life to.

May God keep you and may you rest in peace until you are reunited with all those you have not only loved, but shown HOW to love.

Words will never ever be enough to tell you the effect that you have had. RIP EMIN xxx

Butterisbest · 27/10/2019 21:08
