A plate has fallen down the back of the loo - how can I get it out?

And not just any plate - this is a plate painted by ME for dd's hair bands! I did it when she was painting a mug for dh- the man was so impressed he put it in the window. [preen]

It's annoying.

Now the cistern of the loo is built into a tongue and groove type wall affair, and can only be accessed from the top. The plate has fallen down, below the cistern, onto the floor below.

I can't reach it, nobody can reach it.

Any ideas?

Perhaps DH and his incredible arms have reached it and they're all doing a celebratory jig round the boxed in cistern and shes got so carried away shes forgotten about the nation watching this thread thru slits in their fingers....

BennyAndJoon · 28/10/2008 20:55

DH just asked "has she got it yet?"

we need news

JustKeepScreamingInFear · 28/10/2008 20:54

maybe she's broken by the grief of losing the booble plate?
or ecstatic at being reunited?

JustKeepScreamingInFear · 28/10/2008 20:52

Have brought laptop up to bed, meant to be turning light off before 9 (DCs up at dawncrack at the mo), will she come back for an update by then????

covertmission · 28/10/2008 20:48

I'm having to rely on 'no news is good news'.

I have a virtual bunch of garage carnations to lay by 100x's loo if it's all gone horribly wrong.

DoubleToilandTroubleBluff · 28/10/2008 20:46

I have been trying to ignore this thread all night, but know i have read it i am hooked too.
Can it reach a 10000 before midnight?
I cant stand the tension

milliemayhem · 28/10/2008 20:44

Oh my god. I've been watching this thread since 100x put first post on. I've got that horrible panic feeling in my heart. You HAVE to get it out tonight. I've gotta do a full audit at work tomorrow, district manager won't understand importance of booble pate dilemma. Think i'm developing a nervous tic..

Look, you're going to have to get it NOW. There is The Sex to be gotten but I need to know the outcome of booble plate first!

MinkyBorage · 28/10/2008 20:32

I am very busy, I have such a lot to do, I am faffing around on here, first of all I was only going to stay on until 8pm, then I agreed 8:15 with myself, then after a little more negotiation I have come up with 8:30, and now, I am allowed to stay on until 100x plate has been safely removed from behind her toilet. HURRY UP!

covertmission · 28/10/2008 20:30

I think animals always make it nowadays, as do the stuck children, the woman with issues that she overcomes during the escape, the strong capable man (no1) and the comedy relief.

Capable man (no2), business woman in suit and frightened scientist who overcomes his issues but still gets it, all expendable.

JustKeepScreamingInFear · 28/10/2008 20:25

Doesn't the pet always 'get it' in the 70's films too? Probably best that 100x didn't go for the guinea pig/chicken idea then.

(they do seem to let the pets live in more modern disaster films, prob H&S got involved)

covertmission · 28/10/2008 20:21

In 70's disaster movies a small child always get's stuck. Frequently the strong capable male (No2) goes in and gets squished/burnt/swept away.

Strong capable male (No1) shouts "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO you brave brave fool".

I'm hoping there is a ready supply of such persons in your house 100.

IAteDavinaForDinner · 28/10/2008 20:20

DP and I have been scrutinising the picture of your toilet and his suggestion is to wodge up a bit of duck tape and stick it to the end of a broom handle, so you've got a sort of sticky plungery thing. Then poke it down until it reaches the plate, make sure the plate is stuck and lift it out.

I am still certain that with suitable carrot/stick action you could get a child down there though.

pamplemousse · 28/10/2008 20:20

PMSL at this thread, I do hope the boobles have helped the plate feel more loved in its lonely place down the back of the loo. I had popcorn and everything, seriously, but then dd had to go to bed so missed the high drama around the bag stage.
Good luck 100x

JustKeepScreamingInFear · 28/10/2008 20:18

Aha, MNP - missed that. Then DH must really get handle repaired/repair it himself soon, see it was his fault all along....
Lol at your dd, hope she doesn't get stuc too, or you really will be calling the fire brigade!

covertmission · 28/10/2008 20:17

I have just eaten dinner way too fast to get back to the booble plate crisis situation.

VERY exciting updates re plate on bag, although like Rusty I do have a cold nagging fear that a 'towering inferno finger slippage' scenario is going to occur.

Doesn't 100x's DH sound strong and capable? I am warming to him greatly.

PsychoAxeMurdererMum · 28/10/2008 20:17

ooh....I forgot the 'bun box', and the tub on the top shelf, and the tubs in each of the girls rooms...

snigger · 28/10/2008 20:17

Shave her. I mean it. Shave her.

It's the only option left.

LostProphet · 28/10/2008 20:16

pmsl @ your DD!

LostProphet · 28/10/2008 20:15

I have a quality street tin (and a couple of other pots), and I only have one girl, and her hair is a short bob
