A plate has fallen down the back of the loo - how can I get it out?

And not just any plate - this is a plate painted by ME for dd's hair bands! I did it when she was painting a mug for dh- the man was so impressed he put it in the window. [preen]

It's annoying.

Now the cistern of the loo is built into a tongue and groove type wall affair, and can only be accessed from the top. The plate has fallen down, below the cistern, onto the floor below.

I can't reach it, nobody can reach it.

Any ideas?

oh I'm a tiny bit upset about the sacrificial jute bag.

but hey, jute bags are ten-a-penny but booble plates are...well....

MatNanPlus · 28/10/2008 21:14

YEAH a nation can now rest and recuperate and have happy plate dreams.

Hip, hip, hooray to the plate rescuer

I couldn't have done it without you. I couldn't have done it without all of you. Really.

[sobs loudly]

The jute bag is still there of course. I don't care. I HAVE THE HAIR BOOBLE PLATE BACK.

covertmission · 28/10/2008 21:11

HOORAY

Thank goodness. That was all getting very tense.

And what a magnificent plate it is. And your magnificent longarmed DH. And your lovely dd. And you 100x, you deserve to be lifted up upon shoulders.

DANCESwithLordPsGhost · 28/10/2008 21:11

Is it wrong to almost be a bit disappointed? I LOVE this thread!

V. pleased for you 100x though
Can't wait to see mythical plate....

ahundredtimes · 28/10/2008 21:10

Here is the plate. The words are weird when taken on a computer camera for some reason.

You can see the hero of the hour in the background. He is on the phone to George Bush who has rung to congratulate him.

Would it be in terribly poor taste, if in the absense of any concrete news, I commissioned a commemorative plate, in memory of the plate?

JustKeepScreamingInFear · 28/10/2008 21:06

I think the OP has abandoned us to our vigil....

And it's past 9 o'clock and i'm still here, argh!
will pay for this at 4am tomorrow.

SharpMolarBear · 28/10/2008 21:05

Has everyone abandoned the OP in her hour of need? Is this PlateGate?

SharpMolarBear · 28/10/2008 21:02

honestopinionsplease · 28/10/2008 21:02

has anyone suggested a couple of coat hangers?

SharpMolarBear · 28/10/2008 21:02

candle lit
for the guinea pig, obviously, as well as the child that is now lost down the back of the toilet

SharpMolarBear · 28/10/2008 21:01

PMSL at the guinea pig's splayed legs

Has anyone suggested Dyno Rod? I think they have a special number for this sort of thing?

JustKeepScreamingInFear · 28/10/2008 21:00
