A plate has fallen down the back of the loo - how can I get it out?

And not just any plate - this is a plate painted by ME for dd's hair bands! I did it when she was painting a mug for dh- the man was so impressed he put it in the window. [preen]

It's annoying.

Now the cistern of the loo is built into a tongue and groove type wall affair, and can only be accessed from the top. The plate has fallen down, below the cistern, onto the floor below.

I can't reach it, nobody can reach it.

Any ideas?

I am so relieved for the sfe return of the booble pate.
I can liken my experience here last night to that of my hopefully chosen career of Midwifery, i was there to support you through the early stages of this devastating event, yet I missed the bit when someone got it out and got no credit.

mrsmaidamess · 29/10/2008 07:48

I came as soon as I could...at first light.

Thank god the plate is out. We can all breathe easy now.

What a laugh, havent laughed this much on MN for ages.

LadyLaGore · 29/10/2008 07:11

it was booble pate actually. i read it all [saddo ]

ChipButty · 29/10/2008 03:51

Hilarious! Glad you got it back though.

wehaveallbeenthere · 29/10/2008 03:26

It was the guinea pig wasn't it? On a trapeze? Oh nevermind. I'm off to bed.

wehaveallbeenthere · 29/10/2008 03:17

Oh shoot, you got it back but this thread shot from page 1 to 16 in no time. Glad you got it back (as read on page 16). Do tell how so I don't have to read all the way through. Or at least tell the page.

wehaveallbeenthere · 29/10/2008 03:14

Can you take a picture of the loo? Can you see the plate at the bottom or is it in a hole? Is there room at the top to manuver anything long down the hole? If you had a couple of broom sticks and dug out a ditch the width of the plate...could you get it with either side between them and pull it up?
Or a long wired brush twisted so you can loop the plate and pull it up? Since it is square it won't roll out once you have it in a wire loop...right?

worzelgummidge · 29/10/2008 02:57

Wow! That was one hell of a ride.......

Yay on getting the booble plate back 100x and "Go 100x DH!"
A hero in anyones book!

100x, i've been reading your thread and giggling. DP is sitting next to me and asking why i'm laughing. I've tried to explain but i don't think he gets it! thank you for keeping me entertained and for causing the bemused look on my DP's face!

and worry not, put a link to your new thread for the hair bobble platter location on here and i'll come and help you...maybe!

MarmadukeScarletbloodstains · 28/10/2008 23:21

Nice plate platter btw

ahundredtimes · 28/10/2008 23:20

[hugs platter]

I might start a whole new thread about where to keep the hair booble platter now, where it will escape injury and harm and yet be handily located for the mornings.

[tests MNers patience emoticon]

[puts nose in air]

You're all cross now because you don't think it much of a plate or platter, as I'm proud to call it.

Hmm, yes, square. Sorry, yes, has corners and things.
