A plate has fallen down the back of the loo - how can I get it out?

And not just any plate - this is a plate painted by ME for dd's hair bands! I did it when she was painting a mug for dh- the man was so impressed he put it in the window. [preen]

It's annoying.

Now the cistern of the loo is built into a tongue and groove type wall affair, and can only be accessed from the top. The plate has fallen down, below the cistern, onto the floor below.

I can't reach it, nobody can reach it.

Any ideas?

ah, never get tired of this thread.
thanks oldandgrey!

oldandgreynow · 08/05/2010 14:30

Just realised this was 2 yrs ago!

oldandgreynow · 08/05/2010 14:29

Have you got a small toddler you can dangle down by their ankles to grab it ?

jurisfictionoperative · 23/04/2010 12:32

Wow!
To think I hadn't heard of mumsnet back then, and the whole plate down the loo saga was going on and I was living a life of total ignorance!
I feel like I went to sleep and missed the moon landing or something!

CheeeseOnToast · 31/01/2010 18:14

Just stumbled across this thread, it's absolutely brilliant. Is 100times still around?

MilkNoBrandyForSanta · 06/12/2009 22:37

I realise this is over a year old...but every time i need a hysterical good laugh, i come to this thread...am forevver grateiful that the plate was discovered

If the OP is still around, may i ask if there have been any more plate related disasters?

itstoearly · 09/04/2009 21:12

This has got to be one of the funniest threads i have ever read!

Pinkjenny · 09/04/2009 14:32

I have just re-read this thread. It's the best thread I've ever seen.

Northernlurker · 22/03/2009 23:12

Bump - mumsnet has gone a bit mad and it's time to remember some good stuff

RustyBear · 01/11/2008 12:07

ahundred - I'm flattered.

I'm also glad I cleaned it up slightly - originally I put 'Now go and get my sodding tea' instead of 'Just go and get a cup of tea' but I thought that detracted slghtly from the heroic image of your DH & also was probaby not suitable for your DD to read....

Oh, and on reflection I think you need an extra syllable in line 59 "So inch by inch, the platter comes"

Actually, there are probably lots of places it could be improved....

BBBeeast · 01/11/2008 10:56

oh rusty - that is wonderful!

ahundredtimes · 01/11/2008 10:46

Oh Rusty, I love your poem. I love it so much I am going to type it up and hang it in the downstairs loo - as a warning for me, the hair booble plate, dd and anyone else who tries to fix the loo handle.

Tis marvellous.

The plate is in the kitchen, full of hair boobles. I am still thinking about where to keep it.

Still not back WOW she must be grateful!

Yay I was finally on a thread that made it onto the Roundup, but Boo despite making several amusing suggestions didn't get quoted (I thought the luring the fireman with kitten/plate confusion might make it )

(Also a huge the only time I can think of a tip there is no tip competition, but at least it's on the home page Yay!)

Swedes · 31/10/2008 11:21

Perhaps she is still performing a marathon medley of sexual favours....... to demonstrate her gratitude.

SharpMolarBear · 30/10/2008 20:54

same old "crokery down back of toilet" trolling
getting boring

SharpMolarBear · 30/10/2008 20:53

Well I did want to say this at the time but

TROLLL!!!

KerryMmmmkay · 30/10/2008 20:51

Fabulous Rusty!!

RustyBear · 30/10/2008 20:48

I'm getting a little worried now - ahundredtimes hasn't been back on MN at all since Tuesday night. Do you think she is suffering from post-traumatic stress?
Or maybe the plate was damaged after all & she can't bring herself to tell us.....

ChubbyDick · 30/10/2008 20:39

Rusty, that was GENIUS!

pamplemousse · 29/10/2008 20:22

Thats fab Rusty, well rhymed

Milliways · 29/10/2008 19:19

The cost puts me off! and the fact it all seems so posh...

Anyway, a friend has invited us out for a curry on same night - no contest really

RustyBear · 29/10/2008 19:18

No - we never did many 'social' events - a County House bbq in Y7 where we nearly froze to death kind of put us off.

Milliways · 29/10/2008 19:14

Aw, just logged in to see what happened to plate - & photo not there anymore

Awesome poem Rusty!

(BTW,Rusty - did you ever attend a Hogwarts Soiree??)

covertmission · 29/10/2008 19:10

Bloody fantastic Rusty.

hurrah for the classic booble platter

RustyBear · 29/10/2008 19:03

I forgot I still had the Davies bit in my name - I was wondering why MatNan called me RustyDB....

I hope ahundredtimes has found a safer place for the plate by now.
