A plate has fallen down the back of the loo - how can I get it out?

And not just any plate - this is a plate painted by ME for dd's hair bands! I did it when she was painting a mug for dh- the man was so impressed he put it in the window. [preen]

It's annoying.

Now the cistern of the loo is built into a tongue and groove type wall affair, and can only be accessed from the top. The plate has fallen down, below the cistern, onto the floor below.

I can't reach it, nobody can reach it.

Any ideas?

No skirting is cosmetic, I think, I'd have to take the whole panel off. Good thought though, it should work.

I have called upon dh with his superior arm length. I have given him two beach spades.

There is swearing at this present time.

She needs a butterfly net. Does the 24 hour Tesco's sell those?

mrsmaidamess · 28/10/2008 18:54

Sweded if she does that her next thread may be "A girl has fallen down the back of the loo...How can I get it out?"

We'll be suggesting she lowers a booble plate for the girl to hold onto.

covertmission · 28/10/2008 18:53

but shrimp nets are way too diddy for a booble pate.

The GP could be lowered in the net, and then manually apply the fabric hammock (TM LostProphet). It could also go down with some fish slices, a coathanger, a plunger, a tube of superr glue and a small packet of kendal mint cake. It is going to need a rucksack.

BroccoliSpears · 28/10/2008 18:53

It's a battery operated elephant that shoots tiny butterflies out of its 5 foot high trunk. Dd dances around with a net trying to catch butterflies while I disolutely pretend to play with half an eye while actually rescuing a bobble plate from behind someone's loo.

thornrose · 28/10/2008 18:53

God I really hope she is getting a net and fishing for the plate right now.

thesockmonsterofdoom · 28/10/2008 18:52

Ok to busy reading this and forgotten to do dd's hot water bottle, now she will freeze, hope you are happy.

Swedes · 28/10/2008 18:52

Surely it's worth further risking a skinny stroppy girl for a hand painted plate? Tell her, in no uncertain terms, that she is becoming rather fat and try her lowering her down again in a day or two. Perhaps grease her up with vaseline before you shover her down?

mrsmaidamess · 28/10/2008 18:51

Net Net get a net

BennyAndJoon · 28/10/2008 18:50

DH suggests that your skirting board might come away and you could access the booble plate that way?

then just get your DH (or some handyman) to replace skirting

ChubbyDick · 28/10/2008 18:50

Oh God I think i've hurt myself from laughing so hard.

What you need is a baby smothered in superglue that you can lower down

mrsmaidamess · 28/10/2008 18:49

has she got a net yet? Can we courier one over to her?

BroccoliSpears · 28/10/2008 18:49

Actually, could someone please put my children to bed for me? This is too interesting to l;eave.

LostProphet · 28/10/2008 18:49

I read it as butterflies - just had no idea what you were doing

I am now baking.

See what you have driven me to?!?

PsychoAxeMurdererMum · 28/10/2008 18:49

you know what......

when you do get the plate out, make sure you superglue a magnet to the back, so that if this ever happens again, you can fish down a magnet to catch it back again.

mrsmaidamess · 28/10/2008 18:48

Yes, get your shrimp net from the shed!

thornrose · 28/10/2008 18:48

net net, she needs a fishing net

BroccoliSpears · 28/10/2008 18:48

Have you got a fishing rod?

thesockmonsterofdoom · 28/10/2008 18:47

I really should oput my dc to bed but I cant stop watching. and my fingers have actually frozen. the chilled wine is not helping.

thornrose · 28/10/2008 18:47

OOh OOh fishing net, that will definitely work, genuinely exciting!!

snigger · 28/10/2008 18:47

Good grief, Benny & Joon - you are in COMPLETE synchronicity with DD2! I don't what that says about her .... or you

snigger · 28/10/2008 18:46

DD2, helpfully, suggests

Use an elephant's trunk.

Soz.

thornrose · 28/10/2008 18:46

Are those kitchen implements actually called fish slices it sounds ridiculous now and wrong!!

BennyAndJoon · 28/10/2008 18:45

AN elephant!

That is what you need!

Just hire yourself an elephant

PsychoAxeMurdererMum · 28/10/2008 18:45
