I think my cat stole someone's Sunday lunch

Just that really

My cat has just turned up on my patio with a small roasted chicken in his greedy mouth.

He has form for sneaking into neighbours houses through doors and we windows.

I can't really go knocking on doors to ask if anyone is moving missing their dinner

Mortified doesn't cover it

I hope it wasn't your partner who told you that 🤪

No I caught him myself - the cat, that is 😀

Sillywillywoowoo · 14/01/2024 21:18

My parents actually met because my dad had a whippet that stole a pork pie from someone's table in the pub she was working as a bar maid in 😬

sqirrelfriends · 14/01/2024 21:06

My dog once ate my birthday cake, at my party. My mum was absolutely livid.

The only thing my cat ever brought me was a lone sock from next door.

Sugargliderwombat · 14/01/2024 21:02

My mums neighbour told us the cat had eaten her Linda McCartney sausages that were cooling on the counter.

Prelapsarianhag · 14/01/2024 20:57

My tiny little black cat grew up with my German Shepherds, she used to climb on their backs when they were resting, do the claw digging thing and get fast asleep while they were long suffering and unable to move until she did. She would come in when they were lying by the fire and look at them to make them move so she could sleep tummy up closest to the fire. We are in a big dog walking area and she would sit outside to watch the dogs go past and go total apeshit on any dog that dared to bother her. Gnarly little puss. Died at 18, much missed.

I am loving this thread, all these tales of feline (and doggy) enterprising raids and villainy. I have had a few cats but none of them have ever brought things home. However, I know someone whose cat is obsessed with KFC and brings bits home On one occasion they even returned with some bits in a box. How they got it through the cat flap remains a mystery.

MadCatLady27 · 14/01/2024 20:38

My mum's ragdoll once seized the small gammon she had cooling on the side and headed off with it, fortunately she spotted her 😂

My ragdoll helped herself to the mince off one of DHs pasta bolognaises he'd made and had cooling on the side - she came upstairs and had orange on her white chin so I knew what had happened - went down and she'd torn the cling film, hoovered up some mince and left him the rice under it 😂

There's a thread on another forum I'm on called "the worst thing the cat's done" it's brilliant. I also love Bunnies are arseholes on FB, some of the things they've done!

petermaddog · 14/01/2024 20:36

whenhe was young he would bring grasshoppers put them under the carpet/cats bring thing to you as gifts

Our beagle once pinched someone's bacon sandwich out of their hand Grin DH was mortified lol. I was in a shop and pretended not to know him!

I had half an avocado and prawn bap taken out of my hand by a passing dog. It didn't even break step, either. Quite impressive timing, really.

Oh great, the cat haters have found the part of mumsnet devoted to cat lovers.

Tbf, reading the thread it was fine until the ‘cat lovers’ themselves lowered the tone. Why not keep it lighthearted like the actual op with the stolen food, and not laugh about the time your cat slaughtered your neighbours guinea pigs/hamsters/birds/fish etc. It really is not funny. You don’t have to be a cat lover to not appreciate that

QueenOfThorns · 14/01/2024 20:21

My cat, who is a weirdo, once brought home an unopened bag of Skips. I have no idea where he got it, I just hope he didn’t mug a small child!

A friend's cat stole a kitten. They never found out who the kitten belonged to so cat got to keep her 'baby' 🤣

That is very sweet, cats are bonkers and so entertaining

DrDisrespect · 14/01/2024 20:15

My cat has come home with a chicken wing and a sausage on separate occasions.. hopefully not stolen from someone's house or BBQ 🙈

I don't like cats but a cat stole my roast pork once and I thought it was funny.

But it's very annoying seeing people laughing at how their cats tormented neighbours, or how they killed peoples pets. Some cat owners have horrible attitudes.

BTW, this thread showed up on 'trending', I don't look at what message board threads were posted on.

OMG this thread has made me howl. Has taken me back to my own little black and white bruiser called Eddie (RIP Ed) who loved to wind up our crazy neighbour lady. He would regularly visit her house through her cats' catflap and eat their food, cue a visit from the crazy neighbour to tell us off. She bought a magnetic cat flap to stop him .... and Eddie would wait patiently by her door for her cats to activate the flap before following them in and stealing their food. Cue another visit from crazy neighbour telling DH and I off. I don't know a) what she thought I should do - put him on the naughty step? and b) why we took the telling off each time without argument but I was less feisty in my younger days! Then Eddie came home once with a cooked pork joint and DH and I vowed we wouldn't open the door to her again! I bloody loved that cat!

I think you were the crazy neighbour.

didthecrowseatchoccy · 14/01/2024 20:09

One of our cats used to bring us rubbish, empty crisp packets mainly but he mixed it up with tin foil which he also liked. I suspect it was from next door's bin.

One memorable day we were watching tv and a toad hopped out from under the tv stand. I suspect I know how it got there, I certainly didn't bring it in.

TheDogsMother · 14/01/2024 20:08

One of my early dates with now DH we went to a country pub for lunch after walking my Jack Russell. Mid way through our meal I had finished my glass of wine and DH went to get me another. I'd been holding the dog on a short lead under the table when he shot up and grabbed the burger off DH's plate, got it to the floor and swallowed it whole. DH came back to half a toasted bun. The table next to us saw it all and were waiting for his reaction. I'm sure they still tell the tale now. It was then I knew he was a keeper and the Jack Russell was a bit of a bugger for his whole life.

Ohh jeez,
what amusing stories I can read I really had a good laugh.
My cat in theirs entire 8 years brought home 3 and half mice, and 2 half alive birds chicks.🤗😂

People laugh at this stuff when cats do it but if someone said their dog bit a cat then people go mad and say the dog needs to be put down.

ilovesooty · 14/01/2024 20:06

Tennyson will eat just about anything. I took a liquorice allsort off him last week. The only human foods he's repulsed by are cauliflower and banana so far.

Goldwakeme · 14/01/2024 20:03

One of ours brought a corn on the cob, still in its husk. We're vegetarian, so that was thoughtful!

Sillywillywoowoo · 14/01/2024 20:02

My cat once brought an actual WIG through the cat flap once. It was filthy and in a right state so I couldn't tell what quality it was. To this day I very much hope it was just a kids dressing up wig 😬.

lovelyoldtree · 14/01/2024 19:59

@Fiddlerdragon so sorry for what happened xx

HotelNotPortofino · 14/01/2024 19:58

One of mine is an absolute sod

She will eat anything we leave out briefly, through the packaging. Meat off a boxed pizza, cake through the box and cellophane, crisp packets I think she thinks they might be cat food, so each is pierced and checked.

But her latest trick is stealing cat food pouches from neighbours houses, dragging them home and eating them in our garden, I’ve cleared up 10 empty chewed foil pouches since Christmas.

Then we get the sad face local FB posts, anyone know this cat, she’s starving, crying in our garden? The sod. She’s 6kg and is well fed.
