I think my cat stole someone's Sunday lunch

Just that really

My cat has just turned up on my patio with a small roasted chicken in his greedy mouth.

He has form for sneaking into neighbours houses through doors and we windows.

I can't really go knocking on doors to ask if anyone is moving missing their dinner

Mortified doesn't cover it

Thanks, this made my day!

My parents were cat-sitting once and it jumped up on the counter and stole a pork loin.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 14/01/2024 17:34

One of our cats - a fierce and brave hunter - brought home half a sponge cake once, and another time, a cooked pork chop.

One of ours brought home a five pound note once, no idea where he found it.

Impressive!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 14/01/2024 17:33

Disappointingly our current cats don't bring us anything useful at all, but Mrs Grumpy reminded me that a previous cat of ours nipped into our upstairs neighbour's flat and stole a chicken leg that our neighbour had been thawing before cooking it for her tea. This was the same cat that was regularly spotted on a different neighbours inside window sill. (A real Six Dinner Sid)
Another previous cat of ours tried to bring in a live moorhen.

Toddlerteaplease · 14/01/2024 17:33

That is the funniest thing I've read all day!! Can we have a photo of the thief?!

fetchacloth · 14/01/2024 17:32

That's so funny😂
I used to have a cat that stole washing off the line, usually small items. Sometimes she would pinch items from other peoples' washing lines too. The embarrassment.🙄

MKeegs · 14/01/2024 17:07

What? A human finger? Did you think about telling the police or summat Hmm
And that wasn't the reason for it to be put down was it?!

Is anybody else (who like me is late to this thread) desperate to know what the deleted comment read??

TheYearOfSmallThings · 14/01/2024 17:31

Your cat is a good provider and you should be grateful and proud Smile

FruitBowlCrazy · 14/01/2024 17:30

I have discovered that one of our cats is partial to salmon and broccoli quiche.

ADHDGURL · 14/01/2024 17:30

That's a clever cat! I'm super impressed, mine can't find dreamies treats when I put them at his feet!!
As for the hapless humans it was stolen from..😂

SarahLHs · 14/01/2024 17:29

My cat used to steal washing that our neighbours had hung out on their washing lines. I used to get pants, socks, all sorts! Never the same neighbour though so I didn't know where to return it to!

Ohdojustfuckoff · 14/01/2024 17:28

My inlaws cat got to the turkey one Christmas while it was resting... cats are funny things.

Funkyslippers · 14/01/2024 17:28

My cat once brought in a very alive squirrel that was as big as her. Somehow I managed to get them both out of the house and shut the cat in the shed while the squirrel ran off

Also had a cat that used to bring home bits of road kill and try to pass them off as his own 😑

We had a cat who was a bit of a wimp, a bird flew into the window and knocked itself out/died. The cat couldn’t believe her luck and wandered around proudly carrying her bird.

HalebiHabibti · 14/01/2024 17:27

Neighbour's cat stole my bloody shoes. I got him on camera!!

I think my cat stole someone's Sunday lunch
Lindy2 · 14/01/2024 17:25

We've had a cooked chicken drumstick before and also a rolled up pair of socks. 🤔

I know of someone whose cat arrived home carrying a very dead but very exotic, tropical fish.

Littlewhitecat · 14/01/2024 17:23

One of mine made a huge kerfuffle coming through the cat flap because he was dragging a very dead rat and the trap that the rat was firmly jammed in. God knows where the cat had found it. The rat trap was the sort that should not have been anywhere in the open as it could have killed any animal going near it. I often wonder what the person who set it thought when it disappeared (monster rats dragging it off).

DiaNaranja · 14/01/2024 17:22

Ours came down the path with a huge Yorkshire pudding once. Really wanted to know where it came from as would love to know their technique, it was huge and risen to perfection 😂

wlv12 · 14/01/2024 17:22

My cat (now blind and 18, bless him) used to steal meat off a neighbours BBQ and then take it to our flat roof which overlooked the neighbours garden and eat it 😂

Funkyslippers · 14/01/2024 17:22

My friend's cat once came home with a small joint of cooked beef. My friend at the time was very hard up for money and did consider eating it for a few minutes ☺️

Seadreamers · 14/01/2024 17:21

When I was a child we had a cat who whipped a hot pork chop off the neighbours plate as she was serving their dinner onto their plates and had turned her back for just seconds. She was very indignant and my DM was mortified.

Proseccoagain · 14/01/2024 17:21

My in-laws' cat came home once with a freshly cooked pork chop. And our cat came leaping over our 6ft fence into our garden with a wild baby rabbit. My DH managed to get it out of his mouth and DCat was most upset.

rockwater · 14/01/2024 17:20

hahahahaha! I am waiting for a MN post saying:

"something really weird just happened and I literally cant explain it. I had just roasted a chicken, put it down on the table left the kitchen for 30 seconds and its just.....gone. Ive searched the entire house and cant find it anywhere"

Cue loads of "your husband ate it and is lying to you- LTB" responses

calexico · 14/01/2024 17:20

I know of 2 cats living in the same house who went out and came back dragging a still very warm beef joint through the cat flap.

My granny used to talk about her cat appearing one day in the 40s, when meat was rationed, trailing a huge string of sausages. She heard the aggrieved neighbour giving out about it in the local shop a few days later, but she hadn't the courage to 'fess up.

Depending on how pissed off your neighbour is, they'll probably be checking their doorbell footage...

Edited

I hope she washed them off and used them;meat was in short supply after all.
