I think my cat stole someone's Sunday lunch

Just that really

My cat has just turned up on my patio with a small roasted chicken in his greedy mouth.

He has form for sneaking into neighbours houses through doors and we windows.

I can't really go knocking on doors to ask if anyone is moving missing their dinner

Mortified doesn't cover it

This is Jose, the hairiest, hungriest, most slobbery labrador you could ever meet. We sadly lost him 2 years ago.

Once we were walking past a group of people sat in a circle on the beach doing some sort of group meditation/chanting. One man had left his lunch in a bag behind him and as we walked past Jose managed to swallow his sandwiches, including the clingfilm, without even breaking stride.

He also ate socks, underwear, dirty nappies, playdoh and cat poo. His most legendary story was when he dug up and ate our dead cat, threw her up, then ate her again. He was a twat but I miss him.

Genuinely in tears laughing at this

We'd just moved into a village when the lurcher jumped over the gate and grabbed a Jack Russell, jumped back and dropped it at DH's feet. On a sunny Sunday afternoon, with loads of neighbours outside watching, including the dog's owners.

You do realise that your cat has possibly done a poor (MN) woman out of her entire week's dinners for a family of 5?

And stopped her from boiling the bones for stock? 😳

😂😂😂😂😂OMG I'm dying!!

Topsyturvy78 · 14/01/2024 18:34

One of my cat's growing up used to leave me dead mice under my bed. 🤣🤣🤣 When I got my first job as soon as I got home from work she would dart upstairs to my room yowling until I went up. She would sit there proudly showing off what she had brought me. I did try closing my door but someone would let her in to shut her up.

Ketzele · 14/01/2024 18:34

My current cats live indoors, and I don't cook meat. Still, one loves to steal cooked spaghetti and any leafy vegetable, and the other presents me proudly with hair bands. All with that specific miaow that means, 'I bought you protein'.

My cat ate next door's hamster!
Also rocked up with a boiling hot Cornish pasty in her mouth once. Mortified, I never told the neighbour, kinder to let her believe her hamster had escaped and run away.

That's a horrible thing to do. You should have told her.

Please post a pic this is hilarious!!

Also can just imagine the confusion "where the fuck is the chicken?!"

Hilarious! I can just imagine someone scratching their head wondering whether now is the time to make that GP appointment 😂

@Duckingella just remembering the time my hubby shot a pheasant and i spent a couple of hours plucking the thing in the back garden. went inside to get a sharp knife to gut it and looked out the window to see next door neighbours cat running off with said pheasant!!!😅 it was the first and last pheasant I ever plucked. the feathers were all over the garden and looked like an accident had happened with a pillow!

Broccoli5 · 14/01/2024 18:32

Our cat stole the neighbour's kid's small cuddly toy, we knew it was his so returned it and apologised. Our cat went straight back over there and stole it again...

Gingernan · 14/01/2024 18:31

One of mine stole a pork chop from under the grill, and also chewed a leg off a thawing frozen chicken when we were expecting guests. His friend used to bring treats from the delicatessen where he was 'mouser' the most interesting gift being a whole salami.

Peanutsnanna · 14/01/2024 18:26

Just remembered the huge pigeon he sneaked up the stairs and into my bedroom where he gave it a good kicking. Feathers and bird poo everywhere and a dead pigeon in the middle of the bed. Didn't discover until bedtime.

DeeLusional · 14/01/2024 18:26

My cat used to go into a neighbour's house through the window and if he had left his milk out, she knocked it over to drink it. He caught her once, I don't what he did but she never went near his house again.

SgtJuneAckland · 14/01/2024 18:25

I left a pack of chicken thighs to defrost on the kitchen counter a few weeks ago still sealed like you'd buy from the supermarket, turned my bank to empty the bin and kitten sliced into the packaging and yomped off with a half frozen chicken thigh bigger than his head.

Old cat had serious form for this he had a pork fillet, nearly a kilo of prawns , a live frog from next door's pond, a whole egg carried intact in his mouth, if you were cooking a curry you'd have to keep the kitchen door shut or he'd have his furry face in the pot.

Pushkinini · 14/01/2024 18:24

Mine has a penchant for nail files, the emery board type. She can sniff one out from metres away. She steals them and then licks all the rough stuff off, the little weirdo.

Years ago we had a kitten called Spike. He managed to steal a big fat sausage off the BBQ which was nearly as big as him. Anyone who went near him while he was munching away was growled and hissed at. He was only 12 or so weeks old at the time and it was pretty funny seeing a small kitten getting so possessive over a sausage.

facepalmdaily · 14/01/2024 18:24

Years ago, in the 70's when dogs took themselves for walks and everyone left their doors open, my dog came home with a full roast chicken in his mouth! When he wasn't out stealing Sunday roasts he was impregnating the neighbourhood bitches! So many pups born with his good looks 😜

BebbanburgIsMine · 14/01/2024 18:22

I have the world's strangest cat. He will only eat Felix As Good As Good As It Looks Kitten Food in Jelly.

He won't look at freshly cooked roast chicken or tuna, or anything a normal cat would love as a wee treat.

He never begs for food either, he's just happy with his Felix, though he does love a Dreamie.

A previous cat brought me a huge gammon joint once, never found who that belonged to Blush

Peanutsnanna · 14/01/2024 18:20

My cat has presented me with half eaten steak, still warm, knickers complete with pegs, a cat bed stolen from his arch enemy Fat Cat, that he had to get through a loo window and drag up the Lane plus most of Fat Cat's toys. No fivers though.

OhpoorMe · 14/01/2024 16:12

Oh my god that's awful!!?

Maybe it was a sad, abandoned kitten.

Talkinpeace · 14/01/2024 18:19

Old cat trying to bring a turkey drumstick through the catflap was good
it took much banging till he turned it sideways

Teenagehorrorbag · 14/01/2024 18:19

I used to live a couple of doors down from a 7 day shop. They had a delivery each day of meats etc for their fridge, and it used to be left by the fridge waiting for someone to sort the food and put it in the right place.

One day I came home to an empty pack of sausages, thought maybe he'd found it in a bin. Then a few days later a pasty packet. Then he came in with a full pack of sausages - and I realised. Went round to the shop and apologised and paid for the sausages - but I have no idea how much he had stolen before anyone realised.....😂

OneHornedFlyingPurplePeopleEater · 14/01/2024 18:19

My old cat once stole a whole chicken from the neighbours bbq. They'd gone inside briefly and he took his chance.
I was mortified. I closed the door and pretended it never happened.

anybloodyname · 14/01/2024 18:18

I know this is quite a funny thread but I'm worried for the family of 12 who may not eat for a fortnight now the chicken is missing 😂

TroysMammy · 14/01/2024 18:17

I don't think for a minute my greedy cat would bring home pilfered food, he'd hide nearby scoffing his ill gotten gains.

Tryingmybestadhd · 14/01/2024 18:17

When we lived in the city one of my cats was prolific food robber , I used to lock her ass soon as I smelled coal . In BBQ season she would bring chicken , burgers and her favourite was sausages 🤦🏻‍♀️. One day she showed up with a whole bag of cheese too

PupInAPram · 14/01/2024 18:16

@DecafOatMilkCappucino literally crying with laughter at Jose's antics.
