Stressedgiraffe · 01/06/2023 16:25

Dh went to boots to buy canesten today and the sales person refused to sell it to him as he was a man! Apparently the pharmacist stepped in and he bought it.
Wtf? Surely men can get thrush or could have been buying it for someone else. It's bonkers
Apparently she said it was a boots policy!

My vet wrote me a prescription for (human) eye drops for my cat which I got dispensed at Boots.

Dave is, in fact, a chongololo.

NGL my jaw hit the deck when I reached the photo - was not expecting that.

Now I've got in my head. This is the thread that just keeps giving

I was convinced millipede was a typo until I saw the pic! How do you nominate a thread for Classics?

JennyForeigner · 01/06/2023 22:16

Be brave, Dave.

murasaki · 01/06/2023 22:14

I assume the op is carefully applying canestan to each of dave's legs just in case. She may be some time.

Get well soon Dave!

INeedAnotherName · 01/06/2023 22:13

I want to know the names of the others.

Get well soon Dave!

So millipedes have only 5 legs? 😳

I think she meant the other 4 millipedes.

SaltyCrisps · 01/06/2023 22:13

mainsfed · 01/06/2023 17:33

How on earth do you spot thrush on one millipede leg?

I think it was Athlete's Foot 🦶

I'm surprised they said openly he couldn't buy it if he was a man! Surely he could have been identifying as a woman!!

Haha, exactly!

This careful distinction between animal and human medications can run in the other direction; I was once on holday for five days on Jersey and on the first morning my eight-year-old son had the high fever and all the symptoms of a condition he'd had before. I knew exactly what would bring the fever down and make him feel better, but at that time the Channel Islands were not interested in the NHS, and there was no way I could get it for him.

Luckily one of the other people I was in the hotel with was a vet, had come straight from work, and had the identical medicine in her bag. She worked out that he needed about a third the dose for an adult female goat, and told me never to tell anyone she had given me two days' worth of it. (So I haven't, and you didn't see me, and you can't prove anything.)

Poor Dave. Hope he gets better soon.

What do millipedes eat? Leafy green stuff?

" What do millipedes eat? "

Judging by the size of that thing the very handsome Dave :-/ - humans! With elephant being on the menu for very special occasions 😟

Athlete's feet. Many of them.

Now googling if millipedes have toes!

"on its leg"
Like, just one individual leg?? How the effty-jeff do you apply any kind of cream to just one leg of a millipede @Stressedgiraffe

That is the thing I am struggling with most here.

With a cotton bud? But yeah how 🤔

One of the millipedes has an infection on its leg and we don't want it spreading to the 4 others. It's a giant African millipede named Dave

No. Not at my local Boots (London commuter area), but if I’m in London the following day, the Boots there have them on the shelf. 🤷‍♀️

@Fluffypuppy1

Oh thats annoying, my local have the large packs behind the counter and the smaller packs on the shop floor.

What has happened to the OP? She’s gone very quiet . . . ?

OP is probably very busy applying canesten cream to dave

HoppingPavlova · 01/06/2023 21:54

This is why I’m on Mumsnet. You learn something each day. Never knew these existed or were kept as pets. Have googled and learnt some fun facts.

Could you buy them off the shelf at Boots rather than behind the counter?
