Boots refusing to sell canesten to men! Wtf!

Stressedgiraffe · 01/06/2023 16:25

Dh went to boots to buy canesten today and the sales person refused to sell it to him as he was a man! Apparently the pharmacist stepped in and he bought it.
Wtf? Surely men can get thrush or could have been buying it for someone else. It's bonkers
Apparently she said it was a boots policy!

My village chemist won’t sell me flucanazole otc anymore as he says I get thrush too much and need to see a GP. I tried pointing out I’ve taken antibiotics every day for ten years hence why I get thrush so much so I know the reason but he still won’t sell it me. I buy it from Amazon now instead!

HerMammy · 01/06/2023 17:22

Here is the proof people do not RTFT, still wittering about buying for men and completely missed DAVE 🪱

It's a millipede with only 5 legs?

🤣🤣

lemons44 · 01/06/2023 17:22

Dave really is quite handsome. I hope his leg gets better soon.

Does he need a specialist vet then?

Stressedgiraffe · 01/06/2023 17:21

I can share a pic of the centipede now that I find scary

Dave is, in fact, a chongololo.

Cabbagey · 01/06/2023 17:19

Hope poor old Dave makes a swift recovery.

Boots refuse to sell the product to men? Or this particular sales person made an error?

Quite a difference.

Take it up with the store manager, not Mumsnet.

Ooooh I take this back! Have now READ the thread!

Mananarama · 01/06/2023 17:18

How can you tell Dave has ONE infected leg?! How many does he have? Will the infection spread to his other legs? How did he get infected? So many questions.

gamerchick · 01/06/2023 17:17

Stressedgiraffe · 01/06/2023 16:40

The stupid thing is we needed it for the millipedes. It's cheaper than getting it from the vet.

That's the best sentence I've ever seen on here Grin

It’s stuff like this that makes the internet a good invention.

IClaudine · 01/06/2023 17:16

This thread should probably go on classics.

OliviaFlaversham · 01/06/2023 17:15

I don’t think my face has changed expression quite so much before as it has in the 5 mins it took to read this thread!

IClaudine · 01/06/2023 17:15

Poor Dave. Hope he gets better soon.

What do millipedes eat? Leafy green stuff?

Flapjacker48 · 01/06/2023 17:15

@Moro93 Because most male uti's are due to prostate issues (enlargement or infection), potential urethral defects (strictures etc) or Epididymo-orchitis - all of which need looking into by a GP. Also men generally need 7 days of antibiotics for infections of the urinary system and pharmacists are only able to offer 3 days

MMMarmite · 01/06/2023 17:14

Best thread twist ever OP. Now watching videos about African millipedes.

Unexpecteddrivinginstructor · 01/06/2023 17:14

Gosh athlete's foot is bad enough when you just have two feet, with that number Dave must really be suffering.

Babdoc · 01/06/2023 17:10

I am loving this thread! Especially the “why do millipedes need Canesten?” “They don’t like yogurt”
and the implication that Dave only has five legs!

Whapples · 01/06/2023 17:10

This is my favourite MN thread ever 😂🪱

OpalescentFly · 01/06/2023 17:10

Is there a difference between canestan sold by a pharmacist and the stuff sold on the supermarket shelves?

NoNotHimTheOtherOne · 01/06/2023 17:10

I was given the nth degree before being allowed Syndol (paracetamol/codeine) in Tesco because I gave an honest answer to do I take it regularly. Should have said no but was honest and said regularly but not frequently.

Other time was in a branch of Lloyds Pharmacy. Wanted two Otrivine sprays one for now and one for spare. Would only let me have one!!

But these are both important. If you have something that's causing sufficiently severe pain to require codeine regularly, it needs to be investigated. And you are not supposed to use alpha-agonist nasal sprays for more than 7 days (see thread on general health board), so you shouldn't have a spare.

Gtsr443 · 01/06/2023 17:10

Hope Dave feels better soon. Best thread for ages!

Mogs43 · 01/06/2023 17:09

My favourite thread as well . Made me laugh - hope he is on the mend soon. Looks very healthy in the photo.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 01/06/2023 17:09

It's a clear cut case of Millipedes' Foot. Maybe you should make Dave a bunch of little verruca socks so he doesn't spread it further?
