Help? I've acquired a very young kitten?

We've had a female cat visiting in the garden for about 7 months. We actually thought she belonged to someone but we discovered she had no home and was a stray. We were planning on catching her a couple of months ago but she disappeared. Anyway she reappeared and had a litter in my garden. Well I say litter. One kitten. Numerous attempts to catch her have all failed. She was happy to take food from anyone but would never let us touch her

Mum cat was found dead on the side of the road this morning. I feel so guilty as it is.

Anyway I've got the kitten inside. It's pissing it down. He's soaked. At a guess I'd say he's at most 6 weeks. He's been eating the food we've left for mum. He fits in the palm of my hand. I know nothing about cats really. Especially one this small

So I've booked him into the vets tomorrow. Earliest appointment

I have a 2 year old and a husband in bed from an appendicitis emergency.
So I'm on my own really

So questions
What do I do?
What do I feed him?
I've dried him with a towel and he's now all fuzzy but he's screaming murder

My 2 year old won't leave him alone but I can't split them cos she can't be left alone and he's like a tiny little thing. Any suggestions? Could I put him in a box for now? Just so he can sleep without being poked

Ok I don't know what to do.

I wasn't a cat person at all, then I got a cat Grin

I'd also go for the single kitten. All sad on his own. The bonded pair might not want to play with Peppa. Then he will be sad on his own.

Ditto.

Peppa has got you around his paws. Congrats on your new feline family.

Feline Fever!! That’s a perfect name

How did I go from no cats to wanting all the cats

Feline Fever. No cure, I'm afraid.

Zosime · 04/11/2022 13:31

So it's Peppa and two 13 week old girls then?

You wouldn't leave the little boy kitten there on his own, would you? 😁

You can’t get the two little kittens as they are a bonded pair. So the single one is the ideal play mate for Peppa. But then, I couldn’t leave a bonded pair in a cattery either cos you know they might get left.

So the answer is….you end up with 4 cats Grin

SusanPerbCallMeSue · 04/11/2022 13:25

The answer is always more cats. Get all the cats.

Best. Thread. Ever

Amazingly we have a home visit booked for Wednesday. All being well there we are approved. She seems to think I know what I'm doing. Now I have to pick and yes my heart is saying all the kittens

*tiny noses and paws

LeMoo · 04/11/2022 10:59

I've told my husband and my heart we are only getting one.

Until those eyes and tiny and paws get you!

I love everything about your update! And what a wonderful way to wake up 😍

We have been told to shortlist it to no more than 3 cats to think about.

Peppa is chasing his tail not aware of the stress I'm going thru to get him a feline friend.
On another note I woke up this morning to a toddler on one side saying good morning mummy and Peppa chewing my hair bobble on the other.

Or what about Chilli so Chilli Pepper

Sal is Latin for salt so Sally could work

@Soubriquet I'd honestly like to say this isn't true but I never wanted a cat full stop..and I've just ordered him a personalised Christmas stocking so you know

How did I miss this! OP I love you!

If its white, what about Salt?
Then Peppa can become Pepper.

@softplayfail Is that the 4 month old you mentioned? You have to call it George.

Blowyourowntrumpet · 03/11/2022 19:30

This is just brilliant. Another little kitten for Peppa to play with

3 weeks ago me would be so disgusted. Current me is being used as a pillow and thinking of names for our potential new member of the family
I might have a problem

It's not even been 3 weeks op!
In other news, you're my favourite mumsnetter
