Does parking on a closed road count as a live parking thread? 😁

So they have closed the road I live on to resurface it. It will be closed for the next two nights. We’ve had multiple letters from the council, there have been signs up for at least a month and yesterday they painted NO PARKING THURSDAY AND FRIDAY all over the road.

8 cars are still parked there with 15 minutes to go until resurfacing begins. One of the cars is right outside my house and when I saw them out the window, I tried to explain to the two women (looking like they were off for an evening in town) that they were probably not going to be able to get their car until morning but they told me to fuck off!

The road is lorry central, a guy is taking pictures of the remaining cars… it’s all go here.

Anyone know what they do? Do they just resurface round the cars? Tow them away? Do they get brutal? There’s a fair few annoyed looking men in hi-vis walking up and down! Should I get wine and a comfy viewing position?

😉

Ah yes, towing fun will be starting any minute now...they lifted cars in my area lately, it was hilarious

It’s all going so fast. Woman in black cars just came back in time. Does this look a towing thing?

Just gone upstairs to have a better look and there are more cares up the road! We’ve known about this for weeks and there are signs everywhere. Are people mad?

Great diagram! I love the angry looking hi vis man 😂

Billybagpuss · 21/04/2022 20:14

Can you make the nice men some tea and ask them to tow rude lady’s away first please.

CharityShopChic · 21/04/2022 20:13

When DH was a student he lived in a flat very close to a major football ground. People would abandon their cars all over the place, it was really quite dangerous as fire engines couldn't get along roads for all the cars double parked. The police would wait for the kick off, then swoop in and lift all the cars causing an obstruction. It was so funny watching the fans come back after the game and walk up and down the street several times before clocking what had happened.

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 21/04/2022 20:11

Definitely expecting live updates OP - do we have a starting diagram to show car positions?

Diagram

in between all the cars are now various things like lorries, rollers etc and I just saw a huge tow lorry go past!

blue cars, black cars and the black outline are white cars…

Well this is my Friday nights entertainment sorted. 😌
Photos and diagrams much appreciated.

CorsicaDreaming · 21/04/2022 20:08

I used to live in a narrow one way street with cars parked all way down both sides.

It was the main source of WhatsApp chat....
"They are towing outside number 27!!!"

They always seemed to be closing and clearing bits whenever anyone needed free space to move house for removal vans, etc.

purplesequins · 21/04/2022 20:08

you will need a large portion of Cake & Brew

when our street was resurfaced work started in the evening (they did something to the metal gutter thingies).
3 tow trucks rolled up to load up every car parked on the road. it was glorious Grin

Theunamedcat · 21/04/2022 20:07

Are they resurfacing overnight?

CatDogMonkeyPOW · 21/04/2022 20:05

Just going to make myself comfortable here Grin

They TOW THEM?

OMFG. Promise to film if that happens. I only have warm wine. Will gin and tonic do?

A parking thread. Lovely.

Better put the kettle on.

Op, I know you described it beautifully but could do a diagram? With different colour blobs for the cars? So you could update us when each car gets moved. Thank you. 🙂

Ilikewinter · 21/04/2022 20:01

Watching and waiting ........

Spaghag · 21/04/2022 20:00

Oh I do hope you're around when the rude woman comes back! The satisfaction of being able to smile sweetly & say "well I did try to warn you but you told me to fuck off".
😂

Scautish · 21/04/2022 19:58

Oh pleeeaasee god of tarmac……tow the cars away.

Mumteedum · 21/04/2022 19:58

They went round one down our road. Looks stupid now with a big swerve in the tarmac!
