Does parking on a closed road count as a live parking thread? 😁

So they have closed the road I live on to resurface it. It will be closed for the next two nights. We’ve had multiple letters from the council, there have been signs up for at least a month and yesterday they painted NO PARKING THURSDAY AND FRIDAY all over the road.

8 cars are still parked there with 15 minutes to go until resurfacing begins. One of the cars is right outside my house and when I saw them out the window, I tried to explain to the two women (looking like they were off for an evening in town) that they were probably not going to be able to get their car until morning but they told me to fuck off!

The road is lorry central, a guy is taking pictures of the remaining cars… it’s all go here.

Anyone know what they do? Do they just resurface round the cars? Tow them away? Do they get brutal? There’s a fair few annoyed looking men in hi-vis walking up and down! Should I get wine and a comfy viewing position?

😉

It says Outer London Surfacing on the side of the van, so that narrows it down to only a few tens of thousands of streets...

Sussed it now. 😎

ChampagneJustBecause · 21/04/2022 23:33

I can’t believe I’m only finding this now !!
Top marks all round OP

chisanunian · 21/04/2022 23:31

Has FuckOffWoman returned yet?

LakieLady · 21/04/2022 23:30

I really need to go to bed, but I don't want to miss the return of Fuck Off woman.

Any chance you could video it and stick it on YouTube?

And I'm jealous, because my road is very quiet and nothing exciting ever happens here.

BruceAndNosh · 21/04/2022 23:25

What times do the clubs shut?
Do you think FUCKOFF woman had too much to drink and got a taxi home?

NoisyBrain · 21/04/2022 23:25

@DailyMaui OMG I think I also live in the same town as you! I'm East side though, innit.

Quackpot · 21/04/2022 23:24

Wonderful 😂

PinkBackpack · 21/04/2022 23:24

I love that you said St. Evenage. 🤣🤣

I look forward to the outrage on Facebook (WAFHH) later Grin

I happen to work on Dead Street (as was).

any sign of the tow-ees yet? <overly invested emoticon>

They changed Dead Street. They changed Wibbly Wobbly Lane. They have no soul. None.

Amazing thread. 11/10. Colourful diagrams, an interactive career questionnaire, live updates and photos. Oh and dead bodies too. Very exciting.

I say, instead of putting the photo on the tree, it should be a film still from Dude, Where's My Car and let them keep guessing 😇

Tulipvase · 21/04/2022 23:21

We had the road outside our house re done a couple of years ago. Some of the equipment was truly amazing (and loud). One of the machines was a sort of modern day dragon - It was fascinating.

Bornsloppy · 21/04/2022 23:16

Great thread. They don't lift cars round here, they just scrape them to shit as they tarmac round them. What a job.

😅

How funny! We’re on a street T H S right in town!

That is one of my favourite streets in the whole town. There a a couple of others vying for the love (P W and T A) but for location and gorgeous period houses T H S is a winner. Love the advent windows at Christmas.

Can you ask HiViz man if he still has the tin of white spray paint?
So you can write FUCKED OFF on the road where the white car used to be

spat out my gin 😂

BruceAndNosh · 21/04/2022 23:02

You obviously do not live anywhere near me as our Council doesn't do road repairs.
Someone mocked up a street sign entering our village "Welcome to the Pothole Capital of UK"

Irishfarmer · 21/04/2022 23:01

This is a fantastic thread! I would be the exact same looking out the window.

chisanunian · 21/04/2022 22:55

I'm still randomly musing where the heck this street is...

(Always wanted to be the person with the clipboard and the box-up-a-tripod thingy pointing at the other person's thingy on a tripod several hundred yards away)

CorsicaDreaming · 21/04/2022 22:53

@noodlezoodle

OP I think @mnhq need to give you an award. Not only do you have the maiden parking thread on the new site, but it's an absolute cracker - 'Fuck Off' women, towing, boss dog, baby steps measuring man, plague pit and lung potion. Thank you for this outstanding public service.

Also in case anyone is in a similar warm wine predicament, you can wrap the bottle in a wet paper towel and stick it in the freezer - decently chilled in ten minutes.

...

Now that takes the biscuit for best advice for chilling wine with a paper towel...

Biscuit

[a nice biscuit, not a stop being a twat biscuit]

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 21/04/2022 22:52

Parking threads keep me going. 🍿

JeffThePilot · 21/04/2022 22:51

Rolling sounds fun. Though I’d be the tow truck driver 😂

CorsicaDreaming · 21/04/2022 22:50

Woah OP, I came back for a little light reading before bed, and the talk has turned to plague pits and potential child femurs Confused

On a lighter note, I do love a pic of what workmen do best - all standing round a hole in the road, looking down knowledgeably...
