To ask for an explanation for wtf just happened? **MNHQ UPDATE: Mystery solved!**

I'm seriously creeped out and can't figure out a rational explanation so I'm hoping someone can!

Sitting in the kitchen, eating dinner when a black shape ran past my legs, close enough that I felt it pass. Figured it was my cat at first but when I stood up, she was sitting on the windowsill!

The dark shape ran into the living room where my partner is (he saw it too, because he shouted me!)

It apparently jumped on the sideboard and vanished in front of his eyes. There's nowhere it could go - the sideboard is solid oak on a solid stone wall.

The dog is now going mental at the sideboard like there's something there (if there is, we can't find it!)

I'm genuinely creeped out - anyone have a rational explanation? What the hell did we see?

A rat can jump 36 inches vertically and are said to be expert jumpers if your unit is 30 inches it is possible it made that and skidded over the back. They can fall from quite a height without injury.

Glad it was a fluffy bunny and not a f*cking huge spider as someone suggested up thread.

Would much rather have a ghost than a spider that big!

KisstheTeapot14 · 14/02/2022 18:20

@BruceAndNosh

It was the remnants of Boris's reputation. Moves fast, difficult to see then disappears without a trace
Love this. ^^
angellamb · 14/02/2022 18:17

I tend to agree with ghost cat, you may go on to see it regularly, carry on with whatever you're doing.

mamabear715 · 14/02/2022 18:17

Yes, they are!
But am glad all is solved & it was a cute bunny! My guess was going to be a neighbour's cat.. one sauntered into my house one sunny day, obviously without my knowledge, I saw it in the hall, screamed, and my dog came to save me & savage the cat.. who knew cats could jump so high? ;-) It got away unscathed! :-)

@WeirdlyKind

We're all wrong!

It was next door's bloody rabbit! Sitting watching Call the Midwife and the damn thing hopped out from behind the TV unit. Nearly gave me a bloody heart attack!

Ahhhhh 😍

@Ineke

No to ghost, could be rat. If dog is interested, rat seems likely. PS Ghosts are not real.
Yes they are.
AnnieSnap · 14/02/2022 17:56

What’s with all of the ‘ghost cat’ suggestions. So many posters have said that, it’s like it’s a real thing 😮🤷‍♀️

mrbreezeet1 · 14/02/2022 17:56

Yes it is a ghost!

mrbreezeet1 · 14/02/2022 17:54

Maybe not rational but it has to be some kind of ghost or Spirit of some sort.

nightwakingmoon · 14/02/2022 17:50

CANCEL THE CHEQUE OP!!!

LovelyIssues · 14/02/2022 17:43

Ghost cat. Some people will chuckle but it's fairly common

Tessabelle74 · 14/02/2022 17:43

Best thread EVER!

Ineke · 14/02/2022 17:42

Word of caution about cute rabbit. We used to have a pet rabbit. It sometimes made its way into the house and would always make a bee line for the phone line and chew it’s way through it. Don’t know why they are attracted to it, we couldn’t work out why the landline wasn’t working until we examined the bitten evidence, twice this happened.

Yellowbird54321 · 14/02/2022 17:42

Aww - brilliant update OP!
Does anyone know if there was ever an update from the poster who thought she saw a ghost nurse in the (usually locked) upstairs of her workplace? I've forgotten what the thread was called now.

PostingForTheFirstTime · 14/02/2022 17:39

Look up the term "shadow people".

@camperqueen54

You can deny the ghost cat theory all you like. But you will always be left wondering...
Exactly.

Just because Pippin is there doesn't disprove Ghost Cat.

HellonHeels · 14/02/2022 12:53

What a cute Bun Smile

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 14/02/2022 12:49

I'm quite disappointed it wasn't a ghost cat.

I often wish some of my long-deceased cats would come and visit me.

Honeyroar · 14/02/2022 12:31

Brilliant. I was thinking rat too. Best outcome possible! 😍

MarshaBradyo · 14/02/2022 12:28

Ha what a great update

KimCheese · 14/02/2022 12:26

Best. Update. Ever.

Well no, not really, seeing as the OP has updated and even provided a photograph.
HerRoyalHappiness · 14/02/2022 11:41

So glad the mystery has been solved
