I've just boiled the kettle, washed my cup, set it down on the table, popped the teabag on the worktop and poured water all over it. Only realised when I tried to stir it 😂

What the fuck?

Why?

Can you beat that 🤣

5 months pregnant on a trip to Budapest, got a cab from the airport to our Airbnb and as I get car sick at the best of times I called shot gun and jumped in the passenger seat and waited for everyone else to get in.
They drive on the right in Budapest and I was in the drivers seat.
Didn’t actually take it in until he opened the door and asked me to move 😳

I took my cat to the vet once as I was convinced he had a tick on his tummy. It was his nipple.

kscience · 13/01/2022 23:30

This makes me feel so much more "normal".

Last night took pie out of the freezer, placed box into heated oven and pie onto stove top.

Been at it for years, now grown DS once was driven past his school and all the way to work with me. Didn't notice him until I had parked and heard a small voice asking if he was going to be at work with me all day.

I went to the supermarket after dropping my son at school.

I had walked to school and now had to face a long walk back with heavy shopping.

This felt 'wrong' but I couldn't fathom why.

Five minutes later I realised that I had left my two daughters in the school playground in the double buggy.

I then realised that I wasn't used to carrying heavy shopping because the bulk of the heavy stuff went under the buggy.

I returned to the school to find two bewildered little girls sat exactly where I'd left them.

I once made myself a cup of tea and instead of adding milk to my mug I poured it into the newly opened box of teabags.

I've also done the same to a box of cereal instead of the cereal in my bowl. Blush

For some reason mine all revolve around milk but a good few years ago now I had a child free night as they were staying with my parents. I went to the fridge to top up my glass of wine and poured milk into the glass instead. I'd obviously been too used to filling up toddler cups rather than wine glasses. Grin

Omg it is such a relief to hear all these stories. I thought it was only me.
I do love a thread where we get to breathe a sigh of relief that we're not the only ones doing random stuff on a regular basis 😂

@Iheartmysmart

I’ve just swapped my two seater car for a five door hatchback. So far I’ve closed the boot and got in the back four times. Have to then get out nonchalantly and get in the drivers seat.
My mum did that once too but unfortunately the child locks on the back doors as my dc were young so she had to climb between the seats to get to the front. Said it was a bit tricky when you’re 68!

Oh god, I do this stuff so frequently I now have a rule.

More than two attempts needed to make the first cuppa of the day = do NOT handle anything potentially dangerous or do important paperwork or financials ALL DAY.

Occasionally I break this rule.

I always regret it.

Couple of years ago. Making a particularly nice stew on the stove. Decide to put a wash on, washing machine is next to the stove. Get a scoop of powder and tip it into the Le Creuset pot rather than the washing machine drawer.
Oh lord you poor thing but that’s really made me laugh 😆

When we moved to Australia, we had to hire a car as ours was in a container somewhere, on its way to us. I nipped into a shop, leaving DH and DD in the (white) hire car. Coming back, I opened the passenger door of a dark blue saloon car of much the same appearance as "ours" and sat down.

The male driver looked at me Shock, and I made my excuses and left. :o

@Lambtales

I just went up to remove my contact lenses as my eyes are hurting.

Came back down and realised that rather than removing my lenses I had brushed my teeth.

Having my coffee now, then will try again.

I'm with you on this one, more than once!

A long time ago now when my DC were little I was rushing to get DS1 to nursery so getting him ready for the walk in the cold and baby DS2 wrapped up in the pram.

I finally had them ready and bags together, we stepped outside and I locked the door only to find I had no shoes on.

Verbena87 · 13/01/2022 23:06

Genuinely very nearly brushed my teeth with germaloids. As in, it was already on the brush and I stopped when it was under my nose because there was no minty toothpaste smell and that didn’t seem quite right. Bathroom cupboard subsequently reorganised!

Daenerys77 · 13/01/2022 23:03

Tried to switch tv on by repeatedly pressing home button on mobile phone, got really annoyed and swore at tv because it wasn't responding.

Haha! I didn't drive for a long time, and so only got lifts. For quite a while after I got my license, I'd get in my car alone, in the passenger seat, and then just sit there and wait for something to happen. There was always a moment when I said 'Right, then!' and got out to go and get in the driver's seat. I felt like a right idiot, but it makes me laugh now.
ElEmEnOhPee · 13/01/2022 23:00

I forgot how to open a car door the other day. I started panicking slightly and my sister had to come and open the door from the outside, I've no idea what happened! Blush

echt · 13/01/2022 22:59

I had to open two cans with an actual standard tin-opener. I opened the first fine, then when about to do the second, immediately after, could not work out how a tin-opener operated. I was completely baffled. I knew what it was, but not how it worked.

I managed it, but was a bit worried for a while, considering it a sign of dementia. This was in my early 50s and in my late 60s now, am perfectly OK.

Cluelessat32 · 13/01/2022 22:56

Made and espresso this morning. Only to realise I'd forgotten to put the coffee in.

Mogloveseggs · 13/01/2022 22:54

Chopping potatoes at work today. Picked some up and dropped them on the floor instead of in the pan! Good job boss didn't see Confused

Getting ready to brush my teeth, I caught myself trying to put toothpaste on my hairbrush.
