To ask your "glitch in the matrix" moment?

Hello,

I had a glitch in the matrix last night whilst dying my hair, I took the nozzle off the bottle and put it on the sink and then I mixed the dye etc and when I went to get the nozzle it was gone, I moved everything off the sink, looked on the floor but it was gone so I managed without and then once the hair dye was on I found the nozzle on the sink on top of something I'd moved and I swear it wasn't there before! Not a major event but it was a bit weird.

Do you have any glitch in the matrix stories? (Basically unexplained events)

This might seem a bit random and boring but it really freaked me out at the time, it still does to be honest. I was watching TV one Saturday with my DH and DD (16) and the masked singer came on. It's not something we watch and I was going to switch channels but the start showed that Duck was in this episode, so I said to my DH I'd quite like to watch this one as Duck was Skin from Skunk Anansie, a band we both liked back in the day. I clearly remembered having seen clips from it when she took her head piece off and you could see that it was Skin, so thought it was a repeat. Well it wasn't a repeat, I looked online and it was the first time this episode had been on. I even looked on Twitter where people were trying to guess who the characters were including Duck. Well, she gets voted out and removes the headpiece exactly as I had seen and it was Skin. Totally freaked me out, even my very sensible DH was a bit weirded out by how I knew. I spent a lot of time looking online and there had been no leaks by the papers etc but there hadn't been. I had 100% seen it before. Still can't explain it.

We used to live in another country and I was a nurse who went out to see people at home, sort of like a district nurse.
Weirdly each time I saw a house that I thought something was interesting about, such as one had a nice front garden, one had a Shetland pony in the field next to it, one had lots of trees around it etc etc, I ended up going out to that house as a nurse a few months later.
It used to make me feel guilty for liking houses as I drove to other homes as someone was going to end up sick there for me to see.
It's not like I drove round looking for nice or interesting homes, It's like they called out to me to look at them.

@Vampirethriller

I was once on my own in my family home, family were all on holiday and only I had keys. I was making jam. I came to put it in jars and couldn't find half the lids, so I left the lidless jars in the pantry and went to bed. Got up in the morning and all the lidless jars now had lids screwed on tight and in every jar was a dead spider.
Oh my fucking Christ
Missmoma · 16/01/2022 18:31

Out of body experience ?When I was newborn I remember being high up looking down at myself .weird I know .I could tell you every detail about my parents room as I was lying on the bed screeming ,there’s no way I would remember that room as we moved from there when I was 2 .There’s no recordings or pictures about either .

VariousVeins · 16/01/2022 17:23

I have one. I was watching Emerdale a few months ago and one scene came on with a bit that didn’t make any sense to the scene or storyline so it confused me a bit but I didn’t think much about it. But the next night I was watching it and a scene came on with the same bit from the night before. It made complete sense the second time round. I even watched the first episode again to see if this added bit was in it but it wasn’t.

OrdinaryGirl · 16/01/2022 15:54

DH was taking something to bits in the dining room and put two screws on the windowsill. He went to do something else briefly and came back to find the two screws had vanished. He assumed they’d rolled and dropped down the back of the radiator onto the floor, but no. Looked everywhere, on the table, all over the floor. Gazed out into the garden trying to think where they could be, when something caught his eye.
It was the two screws, in the same position as he’d left them, but on the OUTSIDE windowsill.
He hadn’t opened the window or been outside. 🤷🏼‍♀️
To this day we have no idea how they got there.

Love this thread. I only really have one that I can remember and it's more woo than glitch...

Best friend was pregnant but not imminent. I woke up in the middle of the night with really intense period type pains (period not due) and just knew she was giving birth. Next morning got the phone call to say BF's daughter had been born...

BeckyWithTheGoodHair010101 · 16/01/2022 14:51

About 15 years ago, I was with my friend in her flat, and the radio was on. Lady marmalade was playing. Her phone started ringing, and the ringtone was lady marmalade - it started ringing in exactly the correct part of the song. Really weird.

DameDoom · 16/01/2022 14:35

@user1470132907 It happened in the north east, not far from Newcastle.

Cattenberg · 16/01/2022 14:34

“It is all completely repeatable, so we have experimented with it. We have tried having my husband or son stand exactly in my place (they are visible standing in the spot where I wasn’t), having one of them stand directly behind me (they are fully visible, I am not).”

How is this possible? Shock

Longcovid21 · 16/01/2022 13:52

Remembered another. I was at home and my parents were staying too. In the middle of the night, about 4am, the fire alarm went off. I checked everything. No fire anywhere. Switched it off. And it happened again. My dp was on a sailing boat at the time. I decided to call to check he was OK. Turns out he'd just been through a very sketchy situation where he had narrowly escaped the path of a very large boat. He was shaken up and appreciated the call. I think it was one of his deceased family deliberately trying to get me to call him.

Nope.
Just a big old load of nope right there.

Grin But why single out that post? I think your analysis could have wider application in this thread![/quote]

  • because I agree that that "dead spiders in screwed on jars but no one else home" story really is horror-novel freaky. Whereas a lot of the others are less "I'm sure I read this in Stephen King" type stories...
StarsAreWishes · 16/01/2022 13:43

@DedalusBloom

Clearly you are a vampire hiding in plain sight!
Grin well it’s just that one mirror. All other mirrors seem content to acknowledge my existence.
Pugsnotdrugs101 · 16/01/2022 13:26

My grandad emails me every 6 months or so… he died 7 years ago 🙄 I know his account must of been hacked and it’s just spam but it still freaks me out when I open my emails and see if have a message from ‘grandad’s name’ lol

StarsAreWishes · 16/01/2022 12:56

I have a completely repeatable glitch that happens several times a day.

We have a mirror which refuses to reflect me!

It’s a full length mirror mounted on the wall of our large square hallway opposite the kitchen door, so I pass it several times per day. If reflects everyone else, just not me.

We have come to the conclusion that maybe the mirror is slightly concave, and I am a few inches shorter than other family members, so must be a trick of how the light reflects/refracts.

If I stand in the kitchen doorway you can see the doorway and the room behind me, but not me. I don’t appear in the mirror at all until I have walked diagonally across the hall, and then you can see me just disappear from the edge of the mirror.

It is all completely repeatable, so we have experimented with it. We have tried having my husband or son stand exactly in my place (they are visible standing in the spot where I wasn’t), having one of them stand directly behind me (they are fully visible, I am not).

It’s a long running source of amusement now, primarily because the mirror was inherited from DH’s grandmother, who disapproved of me. So we joke that maybe she is passive-aggressive ignoring me from beyond the grave Grin (but seriously, if must just be a combination of my height with a flaw in the mirrors surface).

@TellMeMrSiegal woah!

ClariceQuiff · 16/01/2022 12:02

@Nena1

Oh I forgot latest one. I was reading a book written by someone during lockdown. It references lockdown etc. It's not the greatest but I wanted to know who had committed the murder.

I put book by my bedside. The other day I thought I will finish this book. Looked not there.

I checked office in case there, nope nothing there.

I checked under sofa and all downstairs, not there. Husband says must be under bed, not there.

The book has gone!!!

I need someone to tell me who murdered the man she was having an affair with in lockdown!!

If it's the one I read, it was her son, I think.
TellMeMrSiegal · 16/01/2022 11:59

In 2009 I was driving along the M5 near Bristol when really clearly in my head was repeated the phrase “bag of bones, bag of bones, bag of bones.” It was so weird as it was said in a very specific rhythm and I actually posted on Facebook about it.

A few weeks later they found poor Melanie Hall’s remains in bin bags next to the motorway at that spot. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that exact phrase on all the headlines... “bag of bones”.

How the hell do these things happen?!

I have had loads happen to me.

In the town we lived in previously was my husband's double, same height, same build, same hair, face etc.

I used to see the double and would wave and call out but I would be ignored. Then I would try to walk upto them or call my husband and say why are you ignoring me? He would say I am in the pub or wherever but not where I was seeing his double.

I also used to see a double of my MIL even though she lived up North and we lived down South.

When we moved here to our new home, I needed some spare keys cut for the house. I put the keys in my boot in a box and went to town to get them cut. When I got there I couldn't find them in the box. They had completely disappeared. I pulled up the mat in the boot, looked under the spare tyre, around the boot without mat, nothing.

Another time I took DS with me to get some other keys cut. Had them cut and we were walking back to the car. Got to car park and realised I didn't have keys. Must have dropped them. Sent DS back to shop and he asked shop owner, he said no keys dropped there, he had given them back to me. Looked all along the route we had taken, no keys.

Never ever found the first set or second set again.

During Lockdown I was using two debit cards in the house for online shopping etc. I always had these two cards within easy reach. On the windowsill. On my table next to my mouse.

I lost one card from the table. I couldn't find it anywhere. Went through handbag/purse/coats/cardigans. Cleared table, checked books, everything. Couldn't find it. Requested replacement.

Shortly after the one on my window sill disappeared. This time searched whole house, turned it upside down, looking under bed, sofas etc. Everything, DH and DS helped me. I hadn't gone out with this card at all. It had to be in house.

Ordered a replacement and that arrived.

Two weeks later, DH moved sofa to hoover behind it.

Right against the back wall, side by side were both my debit cards! I never sat on the sofa with either card and would never have dropped them and not picked them up. To this day we cannot work out how both got under there, despite us constantly looking under the sofa.

Lately, I came home put my postbox key on the chair instead of in it's basket as we normally do. I don't know why I did this. It took two seconds to drop it in it's basket.

So I went to get the key from the chair a day later to put it back.

It wasn't on the chair. I thought I must have put it back in the basket. Nope.

This time I have turned the house upside down, taken everything out, cleaned out cupboards, washing baskets etc and I cannot find the damn key anywhere. It is going to cost me £100 to get the lock and key replaced. I refuse to pay as I know the key is somewhere. I have done the calling to the Saint to help me find it. It didn't work with cards and hasn't helped with keys or this key. I was talking to my postman asking if he knew the model of the postbox to try and get a replacement key cut. He told me previous owner also lost his key and had to call out locksmith who cut him a new key based on the postbox and that is why there is only one. He was there when locksmith was there.

I sometimes give my son cards to hold for me like our town card for discounts and a Tesco giftcard.

I asked him for the towncard back, he said he didn't have it. I told him to check his pockets, coat, etc nope he doesn't have it.

I ordered a new one and paid for it. Three months later he finds the town card in the pocket of his shorts we had previously searched.

Same with giftcard he swore he had given it back to me. Went through all his clothes/pockets/schoolbag. Nothing.

One day washing his school coat, after checking pockets, it was dry, he put it on. Giftcard in pocket and it had been washed!!!

I just want my postbox key back!!!

All the other keys have never ever been found.

NeedleWielder · 16/01/2022 09:09

My friends will recognised me from this one.

My best friend who lives abroad was two weeks away from giving birth when I woke up one morning and remembered a dream in which she was in labour.

I called her mobile number and her mother picked it up and told me that indeed, she was giving birth. When I said I’d dreamed about it she called me a witch!

Gargellen · 16/01/2022 09:06

Not a glitch but still spooky.

When I met my DH I had five dogs. One of them became his particular favourite and the feeling was mutual.
For a few years, DH traded in a certain type of vehicle. He would leave the house and go and do deals and be gone for various lengths of time.
The dog always knew when he had decided to return for home. It might be a mile away of two hundred miles away. It might even have involved an overnight stay but the dog always jumped off the sofa and went to sit in the window and within half a minute the phone would ring, DH would say he's on his way back and he will be ten minutes/an hour, three hours - whatever.
Some times the dog would do the thing but no call. The call would come but DH had left the destination without ringing to beat fog or traffic or something and so was calling from the services nearer to home but the dog had always signalled at the correct time.

In 1997 my then partner and I were househunting for our first jouse in sunny Leytonstone. We had see anout 4 houses when we looked at the last one, a mid 19th century terrace. It had been a shared house and one of the students who lived there and was moving let us in.

It was ok- messy but good sized rooms. The first reception room- fine. Corridor- fine. Did upstairs. Fine. Came back down to the second reception room.

It was really dreary compared to the previous rooms with only 2 armchairs in but it still had the fireplace and had a louvre door leading to the side to what looked like a brick courtyard swamped with ivy. I really wanted a bit of garden so I said to my then dp "Oh I hope the garden isn't as dark as the courtyard but I like the bricks. Those doors will need replacing too." He looked at me a bit weird. I pointed out that they were wooden and a bit rotten. He asked me what I was on about, it was just double glazing and what courtyard? I asked him what colour the walls were and he said magnolia. I was seeing dark green. So I sort of blundered right out the house panicking. When he persuaded me back in it was indeed just a magnolia dining room with a cheap table and dining chairs and no louvre doors or courtyard.

We didn't buy it.

After my ex left with the OW and I had finally managed to get full time care for my Dad with dementia, I went into a terrible depression.
It was mid January and was sitting on the bed in my nightie and feeling particularly down when a fresh green leaf fell into my lap. I believe it was sent to give me hope.

A year or so later I was watching TV and an actor on a comedy sketch show appeared on the screen. A voice in my head told me I would meet and marry a man that looked very much like this actor. I was almost 40 by this stage and had never been married and had no plans to be so.
A few months later I attended an autojumble with some friends and a friend of theirs was there and they briefly introduced me to him. He looked very like the actor. I remember thinking this at the time.
A few days later one of my friends called and said he had rung asking for my number as he wanted to take me out for a drink/date. He called, we dated and have been married almost twenty years now.
