Is this positive?!

I’ve name changed for this. I am due in hospital tomorrow for a colposcopy because of periods being all over the place. Just decided to do a pregnancy test just to be on the safe side.
DH and I were told earlier this year it was very unlikely we could conceive due to my age and low AMH levels.

Was not expecting this. I’m not going nuts am I? Is this positive? Is there any way it could be wrong?

DH is at work & I can’t talk to him for a couple of hours. Am shaking.

Is this positive?!

Totally understandable @Omgwhatthehell. Sorry - I should’ve pointed out the name change fail more subtly; quite new to MN so don’t know all the ins and outs yet. 🤞🏻 for you that everything goes smoothly.

Omgwhatthehell · 04/12/2021 13:21

@DancinOnTheCeiling thank you so much, but I’ve asked for your post to be deleted.
I’m sure I’m being a bit paranoid but I am not ready for anyone to know about this in real life (apart from DH!) until we are hopefully lucky enough to get past the first trimester.

Whoops. Name change fail there! I’d rather keep this as anonymous as I can at the moment.

Thank you so much for the lovely messages.
DH and I have booked an early scan for two weeks time as I just need to know if this is real and viable.

I will keep you posted “Mumsnet Aunties”!

Enjoy the thought that it is true, and you are pregnant.

trevthecat · 03/12/2021 18:42

Oh this is so lovely 😍 a scan before Christmas would be just magical. I'm never this soppy but this story has really touched me! Congratulations

StickyStickyStickStickSong · 03/12/2021 17:33

@Omgwhatthehell

Thank you everyone. I’ve just done one of the ‘how many weeks pregnant are you” tests and it tallys with the doctor’s estimate that I am at least 5 weeks pregnant. I will probably stop doing tests now!

We might do an early private scan. We’ll have a think about it.
We are definitely just taking it one day at a time. It’s crazy. This time yesterday I was busy thinking about all the Christmas booze and food we need to get in, and just thought “oh I’d better do a quick pregnancy test before tomorrow”.

Amazing 😊🥰 Please keep us posted ❤️❤️❤️
WineIsMyMainVice · 03/12/2021 13:38

Congratulations! What lovely news. Don’t worry about the drink, it’s very common to not realise you are pregnant and have a bit early on.

Lavendersquare · 03/12/2021 11:47

Congrats and don't worry about the alcohol. I drank loads over the Christmas before I found out I was pregnant with DD at four and a half weeks and she was fine. I just stopped as as soon as I found out Smile

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/12/2021 11:30

Different area say diff things some over 40 won’t have nhs ivf

But unusual to not take you on privately

Took 5 private ivf to get our one bfp - she is now 4.5. Our miracle

Def book a scan !!

heldinadream · 03/12/2021 11:27

I'm so excited and happy for you OP. What an amazing thing to happen! Flowers Smile

Omgwhatthehell · 03/12/2021 11:19

@Blondeshavemorefun I was a bit shocked that we weren't entitled to even the one go at NHS IVF. I'd naively assumed we would probably get that. To also be told they wouldn't take us on privately we figured there was barely any point in trying IVF.
It's a London hospital IVF clinic which does NHS and private patients. Maybe they have particularly strict guidelines to try to preserve success stats or something?

To be honest we didn't look into other IVF clinics in much detail.
We have had quite a few friends go through countless rounds of IVF. I've seen them put their lives on hold for months and then years. It's affected their physical and mental health and their marriages in some cases.
One of my friends (who is much richer than us!) did IVF on and off for six years and racked up about 100k in bills before managing to have a child. Ultimately we decided that it wasn't for us. I wouldn't change that decision, but I guess it's easy to say that now.

DH is happy for me to make a decision on an early scan. I may do one before Christmas.
