Help me place this actor??

I saw him on a train. Can’t for the life of me remember who he is.

He’s a British tv actor, probably in his 50s or early 60s. Grey hair, used to be blonde. Piercing blue eyes. Often plays a hero/ love interest type role.

a bit like Greg wise but shorter!

I feel sure he was in a Sunday night drama or a soap or something but I can’t find him online! It’s driving me mad!

Also I think Ben D is maybe teetotal, not sure.

He was my guess because I spent ages staring at him in The Larkins trying to think who he was before realising he was Sir Anthony Strallen in Downton.

I had to cave and look up where I knew the one playing Alec Norman from — it was My Parents Are Aliens, years ago!

Marti Pellow (not actor but has piercing blue eyes iirc)
On that basis I might suggest Dame Judy Dench. Not an man but does have blue eyes and least is an actor.

There's a very handsome British guy who was in a Richard Curtis style comedy whose name I can't remember but it's bugging me too now!
