Help me - I’m trapped in a Seasalt jumpsuit

FitYeDaeinYeMadRadge · 11/07/2021 16:57

It’s the Treen Cove one, I’ve lusted after it since Siobhan wore it on Pottery Showdown. It went on with no issues, looks lovely, fits well and is flattering but…..

I’m stuck in the bloody thing. It’s been an hour and I can’t even free an arm despite unbuttoning it down as far as it will go.

Has anyone got this jumpsuit? Can you give me any tips on how to get out of it? I reckon I have about 2 hours before I need the loo.

Perhaps I should have gone for a size bigger for wiggle room knowing what I know now. I’m just going to post myself down to Seasalt HQ and let them deal with it.

@TSSDNCOP

Oh god, I've just had a flashback to Karen Millen changing room and a sequinned top that went on fine, then all the sequins went crazy and stuck out rendering it a suit of armour.
I have the same problem with sequinned tops. How did you get it off?
TotoAnnihiliation · 17/07/2021 00:12

Thank you @AnnieSnap @DeRigueurMortis

@TotoAnnihiliation

I've googled the jumpsuit and have fallen in love with it. Does seasalt fit true to size?

Pleased to hear you have escaped OP.

Was true to size for me.

True to size, often large for size

@Blowingagale

My downfall are Indian tops. Even the large ones are designed with slim arms in mind.
I share your problem. As another post says I could only wear that if there was someone in the house to grab hold of the hem while I bent over and backed out of it. But what do you do if you're on your own?
AnnieSnap · 16/07/2021 12:49

@Jennyw12

I have to do the same thing but what do you do if no-one’s around?
Without someone around, I wouldn’t risk wearing one that I had trouble getting out of.

I had to call hotel reception on my wedding night. My beloved husband of several hours had pretty much passed out on the bed - and my dress had about 53000 TINY fabric buttons down the back. I was mortified, but the lovely reception lady told me it happens more than you'd think. Stupid clothes.
Exact same thing happened to me on our wedding night. DH was comatose on the bed and I was trapped in a mahoosive Ian Stuart dress complete with intricate, laced corset, ballgown skirts and a bloody 6ft train! It had taken both my BMs and my Mum to get me into the dress in the first place!

The receptionist was lovely (and surprisingly adept at releasing me) but she couldn't help a slightly raised eyebrow at my slutty, scarlet Agent Provocateur lingerie Blush

goose1964 · 15/07/2021 19:57

I had the opposite problem this morning, my dress has a side zip with the world's tiniest hook , it didn't help that I put it on back to front, DH had to do me up twice and then help me undo the hook and eye.

@MrsBobDylan

Am relived you got free op.

I think this is a feminist issue - I now want to establish if any man has ever been stuck in a pair of boxers, trousers, t-shirt etc? If not, why not?

I think there is a conspiracy to suppress women via clothes.

I felt very suppressed in that dress, in fact like a pp, I nearly suffocated under the weight of Phase Eight wedding-quality fabric, wrapped around my head like a condom.

My DH must be the exception! He always wear a compression shirt when he goes for a jog but then usually gets stuck trying to get it off. I often get a call for help but take my time answering!

Your so lucky, I am the youngest of five so no grandparents left for me

@woodhill

Fantasic, I would go for it, I'm the opposite and things are always too high plus my boobs are no longer a B cup 😊

I do like Seasalt

My GM used to buy clothes 2 sizes too big and have her dressmaker fit them to her for the very reasons (although different) that we experience.

She always looked impeccable.

She wasn't super wealthy btw - she just "invested" in good quality clothes that she looked after.

She wore the same outfit from the 60's that's she'd worn to my mothers wedding for mine and it was still fabulous (a cream linen Jackie O style dress with a vibrant green belted coat).

Goddess knows how much I miss her. Grandmother and a best friend Smile.

@woodhill

So are Seasalt garments short in the body?

I'd say so for this one at least.

I'm am definitely short of body and struggle massively to buy "waisted" clothing as it lands on my hips in a most unflattering way ....

The jumpsuit fits me perfectly - on my actual waist.

I've just gone an ordered another one because it's bloody rare to find clothes that actually fit my stupid proportions (same company different jumpsuit - it's a plain navy one).

woodhill · 14/07/2021 19:30

DeRigueurMortis · 14/07/2021 19:29

Well thanks to the OP I googled the offending jumpsuit and bought one...confident that I am short of body and long in the leg (DH and I are the same height just my legs are 4 inches longer than his...).

Came today. Fits beautifully. Looks great.

I still need to do "wee management" because although I can get the fucker off, the position I have to get into to do it presses on my bladder - so I've spent the day doing preventative weeing Grin.

Just thought I'd let you all know!

NotMyCat · 14/07/2021 17:38

I live alone and my poor neighbour always zips/unzips me out of things. It's either that or the taxi driver Grin
He wouldn't bat an eyelid if I was stuck in a jumpsuit given I knocked on to ask if he had an angle grinder the other day

AnnieSnap · 14/07/2021 17:31

@Jennyw12

Just found this thread and still laughing. Also reassured I'm not the only one who gets stuck in clothes. My worst situation was on our last holiday when I tried to get a tankini top off. As another post said the bastard rolled up like a sausage". When DH saw me he asked what is was trying to do. Is there a clever answer to that?

TheOrigRights · 14/07/2021 12:25

@mineofuselessinformation

I had this problem with the top of a tankini earlier on - the bastard rolled up like a sausage, and there was no shifting it upwards. (And I am not large in the nork department before you ask.) Luckily, down was a viable option! Grin
See, I can't do that with the one I struggle with. It's this bad boy.

The only way is up baby

My other one is easy to slip down, but I can get that one over my head. Oh it's a trial I tell you.

strangestranger · 14/07/2021 01:00

@Pinkywoo

Have you got one of those trouser coat hangers with peg type things at either end? Peg it to each shoulder behind your head then find something of a suitable height to hook the hook off (door handle would work if kneel down), then wiggle your shoulders out away from the hanger!
Oh my god - this visual made me laugh so muchGrin
