We pay a company to clean our bins once a month on bin day. I’m not usually home when they come, but I’m off work today And happened to be in the kitchen. I watched my next door neighbour wait until the cleaner left, take the house number sticker off my bin and put it on his, then swap our bin for his so he had the cleaned bin and I had a non-cleaned one.

He was back in his house before I had time to contain the dog and go outside but now DH is home, WIBU to go round and ask for my bin back??

Tell him you've recorded his behaviour and you are sending it to his councillor mates

mumda · 29/06/2021 20:44

Can I just point out a scoop of washing powder in your grey bi will stop it smelling. Assuming your council collects food waste separately.

Where do your magic bin cleaning people tip the dirty water and mess out? There's little pockets of crud left on our street by the bin cleaner man.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 29/06/2021 20:42

I have also been Googling bin cleaners. Although my next door neighbour cleans her own bins and from things that she has said she assumes that we clean our bins too. If I hire a bin cleaning firm I can never go back to letting her assume we do it ourselves. Perhaps I could fake a broken arm or something, for as long as we continue to live here. Grin

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 29/06/2021 20:38

Toaster is on the counter beside the bread bin. I fully expect you to come back and tell me that good Catholics keep it in ... the freezer. Grin

Ddot · 29/06/2021 20:35

Gloss paint, or put some flower stickers on it , lots of the buggers, I'd glitter the whole bin, totally pimp that bin 🤣

OchonAgusOchonOh · 29/06/2021 20:30

@BlackAmericanoNoSugar - I do every single one of those except the veganism. However, I am both Protestant and living in Dublin so perhaps I can't help myself.

It'd be in your blood.

The big question though, is where do you keep the toaster?

Buffs · 29/06/2021 20:26

I was expecting the councilor to be mortified when he realized he’d been caught. He’s clearly totally brazen and in need of being brought down a peg or two. I really hope the Daily Mail picks this story up and ‘outs’ him.

DarkDarkNight · 29/06/2021 20:24

This is glorious! such utter Cheeky Fuckery. Council property but he still wants the clean one Grin.

Well done to your husband. Tory man has met his match.

I'd be tempted to stencil "property is theft" on all sides of the bin, maybe with an added sprinkling of Che Guevara portraits.

caringcarer · 29/06/2021 20:08

Tell him you have it on film and unless he swaps bins back again you are posting the video clip on social media.

Ohhyeahright · 29/06/2021 20:02

Well done that man!

waitingpatientlyforspring · 29/06/2021 19:54

@JackieWeaversAuthorityHere

Question for the room: what kind of paint do I need to use on this bin? Will any paint do the job?
We used left over gloss on our old bottle bin. Looked last week at the letting advert for our old house (wanting a nose at what the developers had done to it) and in the picture of the yard we could see the same bin with the same painting number. It must be 10+ years since we painted it!
polkadotpjs · 29/06/2021 19:47

Applause for your DH. What a knob that CF NDN is.

ThistleTits · 29/06/2021 19:44

@Lalliella

Is he a Tory councillor by any chance?
I thought that too.
BarbaraofSeville · 29/06/2021 19:40

Well done OPs DH. Most people would be too afraid of the confrontation to say anything.

Am I the only one here who has never cleaned or had cleaned her wheelie bin

No. Ours have never been cleaned. I've never seen the need. They're bins, no-one expects them to be spotless and if you don't put your head inside it, the smell's not an issue either.

We have 3. Green bin. Only takes cardboard, cans, plastic, so doesn't really get dirty.

Brown bin. Garden waste. Has a bit of grass stuck inside it, but so what?

Black bin. Non recyclable waste that goes for incineration. Most things go in bin bags out of the kitchen bin. It's a bit dusty in there but doesn't bother me enough that I'd hand out actual to money to someone to clean it.

But if I was paying someone to clean it, I'd not be happy that I was effectively paying for CF to have theirs done instead. Astonished at the nerve of some people.

IARTNS · 29/06/2021 19:38

This thread has it all, although I'm sulking as I'm now googling wheelie bin cleaners and it doesn't seem to be something offered where I live Sad

ejhhhhh · 29/06/2021 19:28

Great thread, thanks OP! You want acrylic paint for that kind of job. You can get acrylic paint pens that are quite good for that job (used one myself on our bins).

Noshowlomo · 29/06/2021 19:24

Loved this thread

bemusedmoose · 29/06/2021 19:13

Tell the git you saw him and you also have footage of it (I'm sure there are ring door bells around that could have caught him) and you want it back ASAP or you will use the footage.

I didn't even know people got bin cleaners in - i just wash mine out with the hose!

3scape · 29/06/2021 19:13

Missing a trick. It sounds like it's worth somehow raising a question (or getting a friend to) about bin ownership at a councillors meeting or public event .... just leave it until he thinks everyone has stopped gossiping about it.

Margerine78 · 29/06/2021 19:11

@Darkstar4855

If he’s a councillor then I’d wait and film him the next time he does it and post the footage on facebook.
LOVE THIS! I was about to say something similar, a little bit of social media shaming. What a dick!
Battytwatty · 29/06/2021 19:05

@mylifestory. Try reading the whole thread, The OP updated ages ago 🙄

goldengrove · 29/06/2021 18:55

I love this thread!! Well done Mr Weaver, well done Mrs Weaver, well done damp smelling farty dog.

Please do bring down that slimy two-faced Tory councillor by whatever means possible! Public ridicule is usually pretty effective. Don't underestimate the thickness of his skin though....
