We pay a company to clean our bins once a month on bin day. I’m not usually home when they come, but I’m off work today And happened to be in the kitchen. I watched my next door neighbour wait until the cleaner left, take the house number sticker off my bin and put it on his, then swap our bin for his so he had the cleaned bin and I had a non-cleaned one.

He was back in his house before I had time to contain the dog and go outside but now DH is home, WIBU to go round and ask for my bin back??

That's hilarious.

I feel like he probably needs an award and fanfare and proper recognition for this level of cheekiness. You can't be angry, it's the stuff of legend.

Tbh I think you shouldn't confront him, but should film him next time and send it to the local paper.

JackieWeaversAuthorityHere · 28/06/2021 20:41

I’ve had a look. DH and bin stealer plus bin stealers wife are standing by the bins. Bin is open. DH has his teacher face on (he’s a secondary school teacher). Can’t see bin stealers face but bin stealers wife’s eyebrows are so far up her forehead they’re going to take off in a minute.

It's a shame you couldn't have rapped on the window as he was doing it. Bet his face would have been a picture. Hoping your DH is back with an updat soon/not under the patio.

ThinWomansBrain · 28/06/2021 20:40

or complain to him, cc'ing the chair, using his councillor's address

Garraty47 · 28/06/2021 20:40

.

Toasty280 · 28/06/2021 20:40

I would be waiting a month and then waiting with my phone on record and filming the cf. Then posting it on facebook.

JulesR4 · 28/06/2021 20:40

Hahaha what a cheeky c…. Pls update us if your husband made it out alive 🙌🏻

ThinWomansBrain · 28/06/2021 20:39

local councillor? tweet it and local FB groups like crazy
I'd even be tempted to let it go another month, and film the CF doing it.

Unawarequickly · 28/06/2021 20:39

We have had our bins cleaned once or twice and you can definitely tell the difference. Also, lots of places don't bag recycling so they do get grimey. What a cheeky man.

Figgygal · 28/06/2021 20:38

Wow the absolute cheeky fucker

Roselilly36 · 28/06/2021 20:37

What a CF of the highest order, no way would I have sent my DH, I would have gone myself and watched him squirm, under my interrogation 😂

fossowaymum · 28/06/2021 20:37

Blatant place marking

melj1213 · 28/06/2021 20:36

What a Grade A CF - I would be painting your number on the bin in very large font as soon as it is returned.

I live in a block of 4 HA flats on the end of a terraced street and technically all four of the bins are "communal" but all residents just mutually agreed we would take one each so we just used stickers rather rather anything permanent. My bin was stolen 3 weeks in a row by a neighbour who removed the sticker from my bin and took it each bin day. I knew it was mine as there was a jagged crack in corner of the lid in an unusual shape but I couldn't prove it when the neighbour feigned ignorance when I went round so had to keep stealing it back.

This finally stopped when I went round for the last time and asked for my bin back and they told me to prove it was mine, at which point I lifted the lid and showed them where I had painted my address on the inside of the lid because I knew they wouldn't check inside before they stole it (they hadn't noticed as it was still bin day and they had clearly only opened it to check it was empty and not lifted the lid enough to see the paint) and they were forced to concede that they "might have taken in the wrong bin earlier". Shockingly enough my bin never went walkabout after that

Rockmehardplace · 28/06/2021 20:36

Omg, bin-gate! Awaiting update!!!

fabulous01 · 28/06/2021 20:35

I love getting my bin cleaned.

Love this thread!

Any update?

Iluvfriends · 28/06/2021 20:35

Oh my god what a cheeky git......100% he's done it before.

ImSoMagical · 28/06/2021 20:35

I would absolutely know my bin and I don't even get them cleaned- I just know my bins! 🤣 CF of the highest order!

RainbowBriteUk · 28/06/2021 20:35

Is dh back yet op?

Oysterbabe · 28/06/2021 20:34

@MattHancocksSexTape

How does a bin get dirty? Everything’s in bin bags!
Well yeah this. Also the only thing that goes in ours is stuff that can't be recycled, almost entirely clean plastic. We have a food caddy and separate boxes for everything else.
MrsMackesy · 28/06/2021 20:33

I am struggling to believe someone would actually do this and in broad daylight.

MahMahMahMahCorona · 28/06/2021 20:33

I can't wait for the post where @JackieWeaversAuthorityHere's DH comes marching through the gate, clean bin in hand...

Orchidflower1 · 28/06/2021 20:32

Ooh we have our number “branded”/melted on by the council.

Maybe it’s your neighbour that needs his backside branding then he wouldn’t be such a cf!

LemonPartA · 28/06/2021 20:32

Can't wait to hear his explanation

JackieWeaversAuthorityHere · 28/06/2021 20:31

We started having it cleaned when I was Pregnant because any bin smell made me heave. You’d be surprised how gross they get!
