Disclaimer - I love animals and im fascinated by them! But truly some have an aura of menace about them...
To start, I give you the Shoebill Stork. Not dangerous or anything but...disconcerting.

Crabs. Any type of crabs. They move too much like spiders for me. Don't even get me started on bloody spider crabs!

Also Komodo dragons. Way too much like dinosaurs.

See also ostriches. My DH thought it would be so much fun to take me on a surprise trip to an ostrich farm on our honeymoon in Aruba. Omg you seriously don't believe how big the feckers are until you are face to face with one. Well face to chest might be more appropriate. Freaks of nature.

Everydayiwakeupanditsmonday · 23/06/2021 15:45

I used to work with a golden retriever that had a really sleazy grin- gave me the creeps!

Cocolapew · 23/06/2021 15:42

Opposum thats what I was thinking of 🤢

Cocolapew · 23/06/2021 15:41

Dear god those harpy owls! wth?
I don't mind sloths hanging in a tree but when they are crawling along the ground it freaks me out.
What's the animal that carries its babies on it's back? Makes me want to boke.

Goingplacestogether · 23/06/2021 15:34

The Harpy Eagle and Secretary Bird are surely humans in fancy dress! Utterly creepy both of them

DoubleHelix79 · 23/06/2021 15:30

Swans. Evil creatures.

Pinkywoo · 23/06/2021 15:29
The Magnapinna / Bigfin squid. Rare & very alien looking.
That's the alien from Independence Day!

turkeyboots · 23/06/2021 15:28

I have a love hate thing with this bird. A secretary bird. Werid but amazing

Soubriquet · 23/06/2021 15:27

I’m not going to post a picture of this but it really creeps me out. I’m sure most people of heard of huntsman spiders and how big they get?

Well…they like to carry their babies around too. So you seen a giant huntsmen and then thousands of babies with her. Creeps me out everytime

Ewanispurple · 23/06/2021 15:24

@TulipWoodpecker I couldn't resist but google, they are terrifying!

knackeredcat · 23/06/2021 15:23

More giant birds - condors, particularly Andean and Californian. Huge, ugly, scary. Just no.

LittleRa · 23/06/2021 15:22

@DysmalRadius

Harpy Eagles. What are they plotting?

This is the one I came on to say!! Can’t believe it took to page 4 to be mentioned.

CurryLover55 · 23/06/2021 15:21

Those cats ( not sure of breed) with really evil looking faces.
Hairless cats
Another vote for moths. Apparently there have been sightings of one that is about 2 feet long! Fuck that!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 23/06/2021 15:21

Sphinx cats. Always look evil to me.

knackeredcat · 23/06/2021 15:20

@DysmalRadius - agreed, and as for the SIZE of the buggers...up to 3.5 feet tall!

I've seen some dogs on Facebook videos that have unnaturally short spines - they seem happy enough but bloody hell they look strange...

Googling dik s'ils led me to discover the gerenek, which has absolutely mad legs

@Soubriquet

Japanese spider crabs….

I like crabs but yeesh

Oh yes - those legs are far too long

touma · 23/06/2021 15:14

Coconut crabs 🤢 they make me feel sick.

A lot of these animals look very pre-historic. Like they shouldn't still be here, and the fact that they are is creepy.

HunkyPunk · 23/06/2021 15:13

Don't think I've come across Shoe-billed storks before
Remind me of 'plague Doctors'!

turkeyboots · 23/06/2021 15:08

Dik diks and their creepy little faces

Soubriquet · 23/06/2021 15:07

What about deer when they are shedding the velvet from their antlers?

Literally looks like a horror movie
