Disclaimer - I love animals and im fascinated by them! But truly some have an aura of menace about them...
To start, I give you the Shoebill Stork. Not dangerous or anything but...disconcerting.

Dolphins. They have this cute cuddly image when in fact they're the gang rapists of the sea

littlebilliie · 25/01/2022 18:55

Haggis, their feet freak me out

Squiff70 · 24/01/2022 22:21

I haven't RTFT but has anyone mentioned Tardigrades yet? Microscopic insects which look like a vacuum bag (I shit ye not). Photo from The Guardian's website.

I can't stop laughing at that golden retriever's face Grin

There should be a new thread of animals and their silly expressions as an opposite to this thread. This thread is horrifying in parts!

100% the Sphinx Cat

DeadButDelicious · 20/11/2021 22:58

I am going to go with the shoebill stork. Those fuckers creep me right out. Why do they look so angry??

Also, the Tasmanian Tiger or Thylacine, I don't like their jaws.

Apparently its pronounced Joy Duck. Shudder to think why that might be.

@longwayoff

Geoduck. It's not a duck. And it's not what it initially appears to be. Google it. Stop laughing.
Why aren't they called shellcocks - or knobfish??
sqirrelfriends · 16/11/2021 22:20

SamusIsAGirl · 10/07/2021 08:32

I remember that pelican in London that ate a pigeon. There was an actual photo of the pigeon sitting in the pelican's bill just chilling, unaware of its doom.

Pinkywoo · 07/07/2021 13:19

@PussGirl

I think pelicans are horribly creepy & they are HUGE - once saw one eat a duck - shudder!
Pelicans are bastards!
TulipWoodpecker · 07/07/2021 12:53

@Aparallaxia

Has no-one mentioned the praying mantis? I never wanted to visit let alone live anywhere the insects can be longer than my little finger and then one day on our deck in our LA I looked down and there was a praying mantis crawling up my leg... I calmed down eventually and was able to persuade it to move elsewhere. The same thing happened with a giant grasshopper a few years later.
We get these on the side of our house (we are not in UK) and they are menacing indeed!!! They have proper little alien/human-like faces

@HebeMumsnet

We're going to move this thread to Classics now. Mainly so that we can't see it any more.

Some people think reptiles are creepy but i love them - even snakes. I like the patterns on their scales and their beady little eyes. I particularly love tortoises.

My sister's friend went to kill a wolf spider in her bath tub and all the babies it was carrying went running all over her tub/bathroom. I'd have burnt the house down Sad
