I want to hear examples from your experiences. Like when someone drops the facade for a second and you see something a bit scary about them, or when someone reasonable comes out with something utterly ludicrous and you've no idea how to react. I want to hear them! Because earlier today, I found out that my neighbours daughter doesn't have identical twins called Ronnie and Jensen, which was my assumption. She has one boy called Jensen, but my neighbour hates the name and will only call him Ronnie. The boy is six. His middle name isn't even Ronnie. His grandma just prefers that name and calls him that. Confused

Went for coffee with a new‐ish friend. We met and walked about a mile to a coffee shop, got coffees and sat on a bench outside the cafe chatting away.
Guy with a dog comes by and asks if we can hold it for him whilst he nips in as he doesn't like tying it up. I agree and take the dog's lead whilst guy goes into the cafe.
Friend: Do you know him?.....
Me: Who, that guy? No! He just asked us to look after his dog.
Friend: Is it your dog?
WTH!!!!! 🤯

DS was diagnosed with ASD (we suspected for years but he masks around others. Family members said i was lying and doing it for attention!! I have avoided them ever since and thats been as the pandemic started. If one of them asks for proof or to read the report they will be told to p&ss off

Pregnant woman arguing with her partner as they left the supermarket. He was carrying the groceries, say three bags on each hand. Suddenly stops, lifts up bags to shoulder height and drops them to the ground and walks off without saying a word or looking back. Security guard helped her and took her back into the shop.

Different busy supermarket, family at checkout. Mum runs back to grab something and cashier is waiting as she'd scanned everything else. Her partner shouts at top of his voice "where's that blo*dy stupid woman gone now, this is why I shop alone" and everyone is stunned into silence. Woman gets back, he berates her for keeping him and everyone waiting and she doesn't say a word. Meanwhile their two toddlers are happily playing whilst waiting, they pay and leave.

Sad beyond words.

@Fruityfriday

@ Colouringaddict That made me cry, I really do hope your Nana’s mum came to take her home
I believe that is exactly what happened. She adored her mother above any other, even her own husband and children

I worked in a Steiner School. Bonkers and Just general wtf? Every. Single. Day. 🤦‍♀️

Pals812 · 28/05/2021 23:28

DH and I had a Church marriage (wedding was months later) and were looking for a restaurant to celebrate. Back and forth with suggestions until my boss recommended one which we picked. Went there for a meal with DMIL and DBF as they were witnesses. Fast forward to wedding later in the year when all the families are present. I'd taken my bridesmaids for dinner the night before wedding at same restaurant as marriage day. DMIL chats to bridesmaids including DBF and says she's glad I took them to the restaurant she introduced DH and I to. She'd never been before we took her!!!!

Doggitydog · 28/05/2021 23:18

@RosaLuxemburgwasright me too, I thought they were brothers! My oh will never let me forget it!

ThisOldSaddo · 28/05/2021 23:14

@AsanteSanaSquashBanana

I think there's some truth in that! When we were getting married I read about the option for a cloud blaster (cost £10,000!!!) to make sure there were no rain clouds in your area.
The Child of Prague did us nicely...(only the Irish will get that one).
Siepie · 28/05/2021 23:11

I was stuck in a traffic jam when a man stumbled out of a pub. He staggered drunkenly along the pavement for a few metres and then fell and didn't get up.

I got out of my car to help, as did a man from another car. Just as we got to him, the "drunk" man got up, shouted "fuck you" at us and sprinted down the road, no longer seeming drunk at all.

Ohtheplacesyougo · 28/05/2021 23:09

I have a photographic memory and I remember going to the theatre, and a few weeks later saw a lady on the tube who was sitting in the same area as us. I asked her if she had enjoyed the production. She looked at me as if I was from out of space! I told her she’d been in the theatre the same night as me and I remembered her being there with her husband. We had an enjoyable chat but think she initially had a WTF moment....

petridishmystery · 28/05/2021 23:01

Not especially exciting but I was telling this to someone at work earlier - years ago I was sat on a bench eating lunch when in front of me two people who came from opposite directions stopped to chat - turns out they were co workers, one heading back to work from lunch and one heading out. After a quick chat the woman says to the man “oh, I needed £5 for lunch so I took it out your desk - that’s alright isn’t it?” He spluttered and stammered and then before he could say anything she walked off but I would have loved to have known if anything came of it, because it was so clearly NOT ok, this guy looked absolutely shocked and horrified that this woman had gone into his desk - obviously didn’t have quite the close relationship she thought! One of those random moments I still remember sometimes!

Once at a family party my mum popped out for a smoke and saw a gimp walking down the road! It was 4 in the afternoon and it’s a small peaceful town so not something you’d be expecting to see! It was a man on his stag do. Posed for some pictures because mum knew no one would believe her when she went back in.

@PuddyMuddles4

You mean like me reading a whatsapp chat yesterday where my DD and her friends were discussing killing me and feeding me to the pigs? That kind of WTF moment? Yeah.
I’m so sorry but having read your thread that made me laugh out loud.
Heartofglass12345 · 28/05/2021 22:50

@AlexCabot that was me finding out the hard way that they popped when they get run over Sad not a good start to your holiday lol
Not so much wtf but it was a surprise! Another time in Tenby we were in the Tesco in the town and about to walk out when a fire engine went past and started spraying everyone with water, the peope who lived in the flats above the shops were throwing water out the windows and people were driving past throwing water at everyone. No idea what that was haha!

Mamanyt · 28/05/2021 22:42

LOL, years ago, a friend's idiot teenage brother was visiting an uncle on his farm. Being an idiot teenaged boy, he thought to himself, "HEY...calves will suck on ANYTHING!" Yes, they will, and HARD! I do not know how cows tolerate it. At any rate, by the time they heard the screams and pried the calf off, he was black and blue from belly button to mid-thigh, and hip to hip.

And then there was my ex who pissed on an electric fence.

AlexCabot · 28/05/2021 22:40

@Heartofglass12345

I was in the town in Tenby once, and there was a pigeon on the road. A van came around the bend and ran it over, the pigeon popped. It sounded like someone popping a massive plastic bag or something. Poor thing!
We did this on the way to East Midlands Airport once. Pigeon came out of nowhere, hit the car and popped. Feathers everywhere, lovely start to a holiday!
OhGodNotThisAgain · 28/05/2021 22:38

I was walking out of Tesco and in front of me were a mother and her son (about 10 years old) she was already ripping packets and boxes open before she was even out the door. She shoved a box at the boy and told him to eat it. He asked what it was and she said, “it’s an eclair, you twat.” Who force feeds eclairs to their children?!

In Warsaw, there was an adult man wearing a child-sized Eeyore T-shirt. I know it’s not that weird but I still remember it years later.

SingleMamaG · 28/05/2021 22:34

Went to the farm the other day with my toddler, sister and her two babies and we saw a man dressed up as a woman pushing a maxi cosi pram with a dolly in it, had a nice changing bag too

SingleMamaG · 28/05/2021 22:33

My aunt was in hospital in labour and some of our family all waited outside the double doors to the labour room she was in, excitedly anticipating the new arrival. I was about 12 years old and a nurse rushed past us through the double doors and I saw my aunt laid on the bed and then saw a lady sat in the corner, with grey hair. I didn’t think anything of it and a year later at the babies birthday party I asked my aunt who the lady was in the corner, with grey hair and a shawl and she said there wasn’t a lady in the corner! It gave me chills!

cricketmum84 · 28/05/2021 22:16

*lop eared rabbit!!!

cricketmum84 · 28/05/2021 22:16

Walking along Skegness beach. Saw a lady with a buggy walking past us. Inside the buggy was a giant lop rated rabbit!

Another one we went to Scarborough for a day trip when youngest DD was a couple of months old. I was breastfeeding so I had stayed in the car to quickly feed her while DH and eldest DC went to the beach. An old guy in a fishing jacket (think I know what you did last summer) came and stared in the window of the car as I fed her. Omg so freaked out!!!

@RosaLuxemburgwasright

This is not so much a wtf as a "you're an idiot" and related to the suspected identical twins.

I spent a long time thinking that identical twins, Freddie and Andrew Flintoff played for the England cricket team.

Me too!
OhGodNotThisAgain · 28/05/2021 22:09

I was sitting on a park bench when 2 swans and their 3 cygnets climbed out of the pond and came and sat on the ground within a metre of me in a semi circle around me. I consider myself a swan whisperer now.
