A special SAGE meeting has been held today to discuss the Yorkshire variant.

x2boys · 22/05/2021 00:46

Brilliant thread ,cheered me reet up ,we all know Lancashire,s better than yorkshire though 😉

Quaggars · 22/05/2021 00:24

@ThreeLocusts

Fascinating thread. Can someone explain the 'bah gum' pun? I'm not a native speaker.
@ThreeLocusts Eeh bah gum is an old Yorkshire exclamation phrase. So the comment saying the variant would be administered "bah gum" was just a play on that Smile
@RhubarbTea don't be daft that's like saying Lancashire hotpot is better than Yorkshire pudding. Fighting talk 🤣
Sorry rhubarb I meant to tag @x2boys there 🤣

@x2boys

Obviously if Lancashire get their own varient ,it will be bigger and better than Yorkshire's 😂
Nope, they'll just THINK it's better than Yorkshire's Grin
RhubarbTea · 22/05/2021 00:11

This thread is absolutely brilliant and has cheered me up after a really shitty day. Who else read the first few pages in a strong Yorkshire accent in their head? Grin

@j712adrian

Ah, the Yorkshire Variant which causes a sticky feeling in the pocket, thus making the extraction of your purse/wallet from it virtually impossible.

Tragic.

Yes and it is disproportionately infecting men causing them to shout out “ow much” in a loud voice. There’s nothing as tight as a Yorkshire man!
Quaggars · 21/05/2021 23:08

@lightand

No idea why a Yorkshire variant seems like a joke[I am sure it isnt] when a Kent variant seemed quite reasonable.
Because it's the old joke, innit. Watch Lancashire bring out one now lol Grin
Year5Englishhelp · 21/05/2021 22:49

@joystir59

It won't spread, we don't give owt for nowt here. Grin

everythingthelighttouches · 21/05/2021 22:37

Finally! A no-nonsense, speak-as-you-mean variant.

Not like those soft, southern variants!

Againstmachine · 21/05/2021 22:26

The whippets are running riot on the m62 what can you do.

emmathedilemma · 21/05/2021 22:11

Why has the government not closed the M62 westbound yet? It’s outrageous. The lack of border control in this country is shocking.

“ Does MNHQ still put threads in Classics. May I put in the first Nomination for this thread”

It’s got to be the first time a coronavirus board thread has ever been nominated for classics, they normally end in tears and recriminations Grin

cashoncollection · 21/05/2021 21:34

Deeply deeply enjoying this thread.

Luckily Barnsley is still in the 1970s so it’ll take the Yorkshire variant a while to get there.

KurtWilde · 21/05/2021 21:33

Heating only goes on December to February. After that we just put a vest on. My granny always said don't cast a clout til may be out, best way to keep your cockles warm.

vera99 · 21/05/2021 21:32

lljkk · 21/05/2021 21:25

... and on cue DS starts playing the Wallace & Gromit theme tune, which seems he learnt in music lesson today. Sign from Above or what.

Quaggars · 21/05/2021 21:24

@Mcfarts
Putting the heating on in May?!
Nah, it only goes on in minus temperatures, even then it's still practically t-shirt weather lol
Yep, definitely feel yer forehead for fever/delirium if suddenly feeling t'cold Grin
I think I do number 3 daily anyway so couldn't tell if that was a symptom if I caught lol
