HebeMumsnet · 07/06/2021 10:19

'Ow do.

We've had a lot of nominations to put this thread into Classics so we're moving it there now.

newnortherner111 · 01/06/2021 15:15

Surely it should be called God's Own Variant (copyright Mock the Week)?

JustLost101 · 01/06/2021 10:21

Just use Yorkshire variant to beat (cure?) al t'others then you only have the one to worry about 🤷‍♂️

Spelunking · 01/06/2021 08:34

@SlipperTripper

stupidstupider · 01/06/2021 08:19

I don't know what all the fuss is about, it'll be reet, that'll do.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 01/06/2021 07:21

... Maybe ...

alpha (UK) ... beta (South Africa) ... ta'ra (Yorkshire) .... gamma (Brazil) ...

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 01/06/2021 06:58

I'm going to tell the WHO on you all. You've got to use Greek letters now for variants, you naughty people!

The world may be going to hell in a handbasket but at least the WHO is making sure no one is offended.

Is there a suitable Greek letter for the Yorkshire variant, I wonder ...

Susannahmoody · 01/06/2021 03:25

Very witty you clever lot (Lancastrians, obv)

nopuppiesallowed · 31/05/2021 10:46

Thank you, KurtWilde
I tested positive in the middle of January and have been referred to the Long Covid clinic. I'm not normally a grumbler, but felt low for a couple of days. Then this thread really made me giggle! Love Mumsnet xx

KurtWilde · 31/05/2021 10:26

@wantanotherdog

Today the Long Covid has meant I have just had enough energy to shower and cook scrambled eggs. This thread has made me hoot with laughter. Thank you all!
Sending you big strength and hope it doesn't carry on too long. Mine took 6/8 weeks before I was properly able to say oh I don't ache anymore!!

Nice bits under artisan bakery bit. And pies.

AlexandraEiffel · 30/05/2021 22:15

Bluebird bakery deliver I think. They have a stall in the market (as well as a shop in York)

Decorhate · 30/05/2021 22:03

Thanks both!

nopuppiesallowed · 30/05/2021 19:40

NewYearNewTwatName · 30/05/2021 19:04

@Decorhate have look at Booths

Decorhate · 30/05/2021 10:06

On a serious note - does anyone have recommendations for local companies that do deliveries of treats? Dd (Leeds) is self isolating on her own & feeling very fed up as she was due to go away with friends for a few days. Already planning a Betty’s order....

www.examinerlive.co.uk/news/local-news/yorkshire-variant-covid-more-transmissible-20659169

Yorkshire variant of Covid-19 could be 'more transmissible' as Jenny Harries confirms it has already spread across the globe
PHE explained it had been monitoring the variant, which is classed one step below the Indian variant which is a Variant of Concern, since April and that the variant is “from a lineage which was designated a signal in monitoring on May 6, 2021 based on an unusual mutation profile
Now Dr Jenny Harries, the chief executive of the UK Health Security Agency, has given an update about the variant on the BBC's Andrew Marr Show this morning (Sunday).

@jcyclops Grin Used to watch Hale and Pace on Sunday nights as a teenager. I vaguely remember them doing a song about living up North as well.

KurtWilde · 24/05/2021 15:17

Aye puzzled best keep quiet about it, they'd never get the humour of Yorkshire folks Grin

namechangerforthisconfessionn · 24/05/2021 13:58

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/05/2021 13:35

Quite surprised this thread hasn't been mobbed by posters calling us covid deniers/minimisers

Give 'em time, Kurt - though it's lovely to see all this humour breaking out, and sadly the doomsters aren't noted for it
