The worst cases of oversharing you’ve seen on social media (lighthearted)

In my case a friend of mine took a picture of a bunch of tissues on her bedside table and posted it onto FB with the caption ‘The sign of a good night. I’m shagged’.

Also on Facebook - guy posts a picture of his back, covers in scratches with the caption ‘no wonder she’s pregnant’

Someone who found out she’d been initially told the wrong sex of her baby while she was still pregnant. I only saw it because a friend commented, not because I was friends with the loon.

A long dramatic and decidedly self indulgent whine about not getting their little princess after all, they’re stunned, taken aback, gutted and they’ll need some private time to adjust or some bollocks like that. The irony of posting that on Facebook went over her head apparently.

36degrees · 10/05/2021 19:55

Not even on social media, I used to work with a woman who had several framed photos of herself in a bikini on her desk.

Titsywoo · 10/05/2021 19:54

A friend of mine on FB posted all her sexy boudoir photoshoot pics - bit much I thought

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 10/05/2021 19:52

I post pictures of mine and DCs feet. Because I don’t share pictures of DCs face online but a feet picture and where we are is a nice way to remember the day I guess.

With shoes and socks on? Just why? If you don’t want your child’s face online, just don’t post a picture.

Cottonheadedninymuggins · 10/05/2021 19:49

Someone I went to school with has multiple children, 4 with one man who has no contact with them and one with another man who does have contact with his own child but not the others. Since remarried to another man.

Said A N Other man has had a vasectomy. One post during the first lockdown was how they were hoping to undo his vasectomy so they could have another child together.

Good luck to both of them and their family... just don't need to hear about his gentleman region.

I feel attacked Shock Grin

I post pictures of my food - when I’ve made a kick arse new dish that tastes amazing.

I post pictures of mine and DCs feet. Because I don’t share pictures of DCs face online but a feet picture and where we are is a nice way to remember the day I guess. I have so many I’m tempted to put them in a books with DCs ever growing feet.

Never live updated my Labour/bowel movement/shagging exploits.

Though I do joke I could fill up an air ship/power a city when my IBS is playing up because honestly, it’s a grim chronic condition, I’m tired of making excuses and I’m tired of people asking why I can’t do X. ‘Because my ring burns, Sheila, and I’ve generated so much natural gas I could power the U.K. for a few hours. Please for the love of god let me deflate’

Things I can’t stand people oversharing?

The gushing love posts. Every single one of them including pictures. Just no.

Blankspace101 · 10/05/2021 19:36

You need to review the sort of people you are friends with.

Evenstar · 10/05/2021 18:54

Someone I know posted in graphic detail about her 10 year old being hospitalised with chronic constipation ☹️ that is far worse than over sharing your own stuff.

Another person puts links up to her blog, with gems such as incontinence, STD’s and all the latest about random men from OLD sites who are “the one” until they block her about a week later. Funnily enough the latest one said it was because she was too intense and over shares.

wineandcheeseplease · 10/05/2021 18:54

A photo of someone's kidney stone they'd just wee'd out

WingBingo · 10/05/2021 18:50

I have one fb friend that posts the shifts she is working, usually that day and the next few. Or maybe it’s her day off. Either way we get an update.

Also how many steps she has done that day and slimming world updates.

Another friends posts pictures of hot drinks and cake alternated with attempts to lose weight.

AMillionMilesAway · 10/05/2021 18:47

Someone took a picture of their kids shitty nappy and said "my poor x has the runs"

Chocolatebiscuitcollection · 10/05/2021 18:41

All the instagrammers who pimp out their children for likes/cash. I saw one recently, came up unasked for on my FB feed: a Dad chatting to his little son on the potty. All the comments underneath "Aww how adorable" "Great Dad" "Cute little guy". I felt like the only person in the world who couldn't not see how awful this was. Not lighthearted.

KindnessCrusader · 10/05/2021 18:40

Quite a few high drama affair reveals on my timeline. All still together and I have to hide them because I'm so embarrassed that I know...but everyone knows!

DIshedUp · 10/05/2021 18:33

I had a picture of a child's poo! Poo was outside the potty because of some hilarious story,. I'm not squeamish at all but I wasn't expecting it and the whole thing is still etched on my brain several years later!

Bananalanacake · 10/05/2021 18:33

Badtiming - OMG, that's hilarious, I must have boring friends, I've never seen anything like that.

chasingmytail4 · 10/05/2021 18:32

@Badtiming21

A friend of a friend from my home town whom I had on my Facebook friends list.

He posted a picture of his penis featuring genital herpes lesions, to shame the woman who supposedly gave it to him.

BiscoffAddict · 10/05/2021 18:31

Someone I used to be friends with once uploaded a photo of themselves sitting on the toilet at work.

Quirrelsotherface · 10/05/2021 18:30

but she now posts the same posts as "Facebook memories" every day! So we had 9 months, and then we had the 9 months again

Grin

I have a family member who posts every little miniatue of her life but in the tone that she is the first person to have ever gone for a night out with her mates, the first to ever take her DC's to the zoo, the first to have a toddler who loves puddles and mud. It's tedious

Bananalanacake · 10/05/2021 18:28

Lots of tissues can mean bad hay fever.

Chickychickydodah · 10/05/2021 18:28

Pregnancy tests live, gender reveals and stupid pranks, I hate them all and don’t care!
I don’t know these people ...l

squashyhat · 10/05/2021 18:24

One of my FB friends is an extreme (as in follow-him-around-the-country) Marti Pellow fan. He posts something on his FB page and she replies like it's a personal chat. I can't count the number of selfies she's posted with him. So cringe.

hparkins · 10/05/2021 18:23

I have a girl on facebook who breaks up with the father of her children regularly.

her latest status about him was to claim that she never really loved him anyway, fancied his brother more and accused him of shagging his sister behind her back.

amazing.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 10/05/2021 18:19

@ALevelhelp

Oh cringe!!!

I think there are like 4 photos of my bump on Facebook from DD2 (born September last year) and they were taken on days out so are there by accident, not me posting them. She’s already posted more photos of her ‘bump’ than I did in the whole 40 weeks.

TheCrowening · 10/05/2021 18:15

Nothing as bad as some of these, but I really don’t need blow by blow accounts of your child’s potty training progress (including a photo of a poo on one memorable occasion).
