The worst cases of oversharing you’ve seen on social media (lighthearted)

In my case a friend of mine took a picture of a bunch of tissues on her bedside table and posted it onto FB with the caption ‘The sign of a good night. I’m shagged’.

Also on Facebook - guy posts a picture of his back, covers in scratches with the caption ‘no wonder she’s pregnant’

Grin

I guess I only haveve two people who do this.

One is someone who I know from where I used to work. Every so often we get a rant about how "people" get so drunk that they change personality and become to horrible and abusive. "People" being her partner. He is a complete twat when he is pissed, smashed up their house Xmas 2019 including their new TV etc...and she is still with him years later.

I was in an abusive relationship myself and know how hard it is to leave but no way would have posted about it on SM!

And my cousin. Shares absolutely everything and despite being one of many grandchildren to our grandparents, has taken ownership of everything they ever did. Claimed his medals, makes a huge fuss of anything military and implies she is the only grandchild. She has never even been in the military, despite being more than fit and able to when she was younger. She is whats known as a Walter Mitty in military circles and has actually lost friends both in and out of the family as a result of her fantasies....seriously you would think she won the fucking war single handed....

Bloody hell, I thought people had finally outgrown over sharing on FB.

ReggaetonLente · 11/05/2021 01:24

I had an FB acquaintance who found out her partner and father of her newborn was active on fab swingers and posted all the screenshots of his 'reviews'. He had basically been meeting up with middle aged couples in our hometown and shagging the wife in front of the husband. He had also posted pics of himself in her knickers, which she also duly put up for us all to see.

Anyway she deleted it after a few hours and she's not pregnant again. New start i guess? Confused

NoLeafClover · 11/05/2021 01:23

DH's brother and his wife 'checked in' at 'the baby making station' on FB once. That gave me the bleurgh when I saw it. Guess what, while people will be very happy if and when you announce a pregnancy, they really don't need to be informed every time you have sex with the intention of conceiving. So fecking weird.

I've also seen a lot of performative grief lately. For example, someone from our town dies. Cue posts from people who met them once or twice talking about their utter devastation, how they'll never get over it. Sorry, you once had a drink with them 15 years ago, this isn't your loss. Stop piggybacking on it for attention.

A woman I went to school with photojournaled the birth of her second child.
30 odd pics taken from her perspective, legs akimbo.
Baby in midwidwifes hands
Baby on her chest
Dad cutting cord
Placenta coming
Getting stitches
Placenta being examined
I've seen more of her privates than my own!!
@SugarbabyMilly thank you for starting this. It has classics written all over it and made me howl.
Me too! I haven’t laughed so much since before the pandemic 🤣🤣

I was going to say an acquaintance posting a video of her attempts to bury her placenta in her back garden but actually I think that was just the right level of sharing. It was hilarious.

Nats1984 · 11/05/2021 00:25

I actually share all the time, but I take ‘arty’ shots of their hands painting the canvas or them running off along the beach (dressed) . The actual full ‘aren’t I gorgeous’ birthday photos and more intimate stuff like playing in a river in their shorts are locked to family only. It’s not difficult . I share nothing I think they’d disapprove of, my oldest gets to curate anything with her in , which is funny really given the world is treated to hourly updates of her nail and hair appointments and her current mood Grin

@SemperIdem

On Facebook - “X didn’t get the GSCE’s I hoped she would but I’m still proud”. Tagged said child in the post too. The flagrant disregard for her child’s feelings haunts me.
Oh that’s just horrid Sad

@ZednotZee

Not FB friends of mine but FOF with a public profile no less; Shared photos of herself standing next to her sister's corpse with her other siblings gathered around the open coffin in the Chapel of rest. The poor dead woman's face was obscured with this emoji 😪

I was quite literally agog!

Okay, this wins everything.
babbaloushka · 11/05/2021 00:18

The FB life events on one of my friends page says "Lost weight- 2014" which always makes me laugh. It's one of the first things that shows up on her page.

One from today is "Second pub of the week- business of course, not pleasure" with a picture of her mardy looking husband. No one gives a shit!

She also publicly punishes her son by posting pictures of his messy room and uncleaned bathroom (shit in the toilet, visible condom wrappers in the bin). Feel so sorry for the poor kid, he hardly speaks to them since he's left home.

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 11/05/2021 00:14

I admit to being entirely caught up in the ongoing drama of a FOF who posts EVERYTHING to facebook. In the last six months, she has posted at least three times a day. It started with her DH having some kind of breakdown, which she kindly shared with the entire world 'Thinking of Lee in hospital, me & DC love you so much, you'll get through this' A bit much, but ok.
A month later... she's walked out on DH and their 4 DC. She's staying in a hotel with another man. They've moved to another hotel, 'because some people found out where we were' Well, yeah. You checked in on facebook.
A week later, she & new man have a house together. And every bloody hour she was posting photos about the cup of tea he'd made her, the bin they'd bought together, how he'd put up a shower curtain, the dinner they'd had.
Two months later 'Miss my babies so much. Can't believe it's been two months. Katsu chicken for dinner!'
3 months later 'Still not seen my babies. But New Man made me these crumpets nom nom nom'
Interspersed with vaguebook 'can't believe how some people judge me' 'on way to a&e' 'u ok hun?' crap.

babbaloushka · 11/05/2021 00:13

@Nats1984

Yes! This. Call me paranoid but I don’t advertise where my kids are to weirdos and I share my holiday snaps once we’re home, otherwise you may as well write a cheque to the local junky burglar and save yourself a new window frame.
Absolutely, the kids lives are on full blast online, would be so easy to track them down or use all the uncensored images for disturbing reasons. The kids also can't understand or consent to the stuff being posted when they're so young, it just seems unfair.
babbaloushka · 11/05/2021 00:12

A woman I know who has a very low key local craft business involving offcuts from her husbands work and is CONSTANTLY updating about the weather, how busy she is, her trip to the post office, how she's run off her feet etc.

Like, you can't be that busy because you're posting it all on bloody FaceAche!

Rejoiningperson · 11/05/2021 00:10

A relation posts regular ‘Share this and Jesus will pray for you’ with images of Jesus.

I have several married friends who ‘talk’ to each on FB, with ‘cute’ little ‘hey honey, fancy this cafe tomorrow?’ Just talk to each other FFS you are in the same house!

Toddlerteaplease · 11/05/2021 00:07

A friend of mine posts about her day in minute detail. Drives me up the wall. I really felt I'd missed a trick in not announcing that I'd cleaned my glasses though. I have an iced her and it's such a relief!

Mamanyt · 10/05/2021 23:55

This is going to sound trivial to some of you, but...photos of beautiful young children standing in front of their homes with house numbers clearly visible, and the city and state (in US) as public information. It seems to me to be an invitation to pedophiles.

Same thing at a different level with posting photos of yourself on vacation doing wonderful things with notes like, "I can't believe we have to go home next week!" Invitation to thieves to come and empty your house out!

Nats1984 · 10/05/2021 23:55

Oh. I think maybe I over share a little . I get excited about things that happen with my kids and I have an illness which means if I’ve had a good day , the house looks great and the dinner looks good and I have achieved something with my degree. To be honest though, it comes more from a place of ‘letting the family know you’re hanging in there’ and a personal sense of achievement saved for posterity. I hope it comes across like that . Also my babies are cute and my art is kinda cool given the regular shitstorm of my health and actual daily suffering that is my life 🤷🏼‍♀️
