In my case a friend of mine took a picture of a bunch of tissues on her bedside table and posted it onto FB with the caption ‘The sign of a good night. I’m shagged’.

Also on Facebook - guy posts a picture of his back, covers in scratches with the caption ‘no wonder she’s pregnant’

This thread is so funny

I haven’t seen anything really shocking but I have unfollowed a lot of people because of the sheer number of toddler and baby pictures they post. The occasional picture is fine but when it’s multiple videos and pictures a day then it’s too much

Youarecountingonme · 11/05/2021 10:45

Oh this thread has unexpectedly cheered me up Grin

@GravityFalls

I like a drink and am not uptight about alcohol- but if EVERY Facebook post you ever make is about what you’re drinking or what pub you’re at, and it’s daily (not just every weekend), it doesn’t matter if it’s craft beer or artisan gin - you’re an alcoholic!
Actually alcoholics would NEVER post what they drink on SM.
Gymsmile21 · 11/05/2021 10:35

Someone once posted a shit their kid did in the bath- grim! What goes through some people’s minds I don’t know.

Another posted her ex boyfriend, who she just broke up with, fully dressed in her lingerie to embarrass him- it was so disgusting and he looked like such a twat I couldn’t laugh as my jaw wouldn’t lift from the floor!!

That was nasty!

Tangledtresses · 11/05/2021 10:32

Ohhhh I wish I had some of these on my timeline!

The most prolific over sharers appear outwardly confident, but I think are probably the most insecure. I've got one FB friend I snooze constantly so I don't see her MLM crap and another with terrible health anxiety who posts publicly how awful everything is. I understand she has mental health issues, but it's absolutely soul sapping to see it constantly, never anything upbeat or happy Sad. If you comment anything other than agreeing with her she argues about it.

ZednotZee · 11/05/2021 10:30

@NoProblem123

I absolutely agree with your point, makes me somewhat uncomfortable too.
A girl who when we were growing up was a FOF and admittedly had a really rough childhood, was in Foster care for a time etc now runs some sort of security business, or her DH does I can never remember which.
Anyway she obviously now has the kind of lifestyle which as a child she could only have dreamt of and good for her too!
Unfortunately she posts every single gift, silly things like a Pandora bracelet to a new car on her FB. She falls out with all the friends from her childhood and accuses them of 'jangling about what she has' and being jealous of her. She then buys new friends by giving their DHs jobs at her DH's company.
Its just so uncomfortable to witness and she is so obviously trying to work through her shitty childhood by doing these things but I had to mute her as she just came across as such a bitter, nasty person. Painful to witness.

Having a scroll through fb and a classic over sharer popped up, i immediately thought of this thread!

Today they have diarrhoea, graphic description included. The offenders other recent posts include suicide threats because a named and tagged person hadn't replied to a text and a toilet selfie, pants visibly pulled down but luckily no genitals on show this time.

readingismycardio · 11/05/2021 10:25

@RusholmeRuffian

A few years ago someone I know videoed their child's funeral on their phone and broadcast it live on Facebook. Baffling.
Maybe they did it for family who was too far away too attend? Inappropriate as fuck anyway, they could've used a private link and shared only with interested people. That's terrible
Thefaceofboe · 11/05/2021 10:23

Someone I have on Facebook took a picture of a plucked grey pube and took a picture off it with the caption ‘I must be getting old’ and the aubergine emoji

IHaveBrilloHair · 11/05/2021 10:23

Someone I knew took to announcing her then 13yr old DS had suddenly started enjoying long baths in the evening, most days she'd post that he'd gone for a bath.
I told DD who was the same age, to see her reaction, and she went, "noooooooooooo, she's told the who of FB that her son wanks in the bath every night"
The mother seemed oblivious, but given DD's reaction, his friends wouldn't have been.

Not quite in the spirit of the thread but when people ‘display’ their birthday/xmas/anniversary etc gifts, cards & fanned out money - it makes my teeth itch Hmm

SamW98 · 11/05/2021 10:07

A FB acquaintance shared that her cystitis hadn't cleared up and was causing her pain so she was going to doctors for antibiotics

She's no longer on my FB

CovoidOfAllHumanity · 11/05/2021 10:04

DH has a small business and therefore a lot of contacts on LinkedIn. Everyone is told to 'have a presence' on social media these days and most are pretty useless and boring. I am not sure that a lot of people choose a sheet metal manufacturer based on their Instagram.

Nonetheless he was absolutely bemused when one business contact's wife decided to 'share our IVF journey' with all his contractors and suppliers on LinkedIn: peed on stick tests, her injecting herself in the stomach, on a couch at a clinic etc etc

She herself had no role in the business and the business was nothing to do with fertility or IVF it was a manufacturing company. She also had her own personal accounts but decided to put all this up on the business ones as well.
I have no idea if she thought this would be good for business somehow or if she thought that all her DHs business contacts would somehow actually be interested in this. It was rather odd.

DaisyDreaming · 11/05/2021 09:59

Oh and anyone who sells Scentsy. Someone I know even posted a picture of her kissing a scentsy cleaning product and is always sharing pictures of patronising certificates like a primary school kid with star of the week

Shannith · 11/05/2021 09:59

@1forAll74

Mine is not lurid or anything, but there is a woman in my village,who posts on the community FB pages, about 4 times a week, with photo's of the sky. .with captions of,"wonderful sky today folks. " Very threatening sky today,so many low dark clouds, " perfect sky yesterday.. " cloudy and raining today. She seems to think that we don't see the same sky that she can see, in our small village.
We either live in the same small village or every village has one. The latter is probably the reality.
WeavingWandering · 11/05/2021 09:53

… former colleague has joined what I can only assume is a witch/pagan MLM scheme… it’s like watching a train crash in slow motion.

LittleLottieChaos · 11/05/2021 09:52

One of my friends updated his cover photo to one of the placenta after his child was born. I thought it was brilliant. (They don’t share any photos of their child generally). It was like a fantastic two fingers up to the cult of sharenting.

DaisyDreaming · 11/05/2021 09:47

I also hate when people post that they have the best boyfriend/husband in the whole wide world and they are just the luckiest person. It’s nearly always followed by the splitting up message a month later

Smellycat54 · 11/05/2021 09:46

On a serious note someone I know lost a baby quite late in the pregnancy. She posted a lot of pictures of him on fb. I understand this could be an expression of grief but it was very upsetting and possibly very triggering for some people to see they unexpectedly while scrolling Facebook. I think some things need to be kept private.

DaisyDreaming · 11/05/2021 09:45

Someone I know is in a new relationship, he is in his 30’s and his partner is older. We have to hear about Daddy and Cub all the time, worst was a picture of Daddy in speedos with what a lucky cub he is! Also any snogging photos from anyone, one person you could even see the tongue action. I could almost understand 13 year olds but 40/50 year olds Envy

goose1964 · 11/05/2021 09:43

I've only had one, her toddler did a poo on the window sill, complete with photo

Frymetothemoon · 11/05/2021 09:42

@Mamanyt

This is going to sound trivial to some of you, but...photos of beautiful young children standing in front of their homes with house numbers clearly visible, and the city and state (in US) as public information. It seems to me to be an invitation to pedophiles.

Same thing at a different level with posting photos of yourself on vacation doing wonderful things with notes like, "I can't believe we have to go home next week!" Invitation to thieves to come and empty your house out!

Yep, a friend of mine was burgled after posting on FB that he was abroad for the weekend. His insurance wouldn't pay a thing as he hadn't taken all the necessary measures to protect his property.
