to think it's really cheeky to invite someone to a BBQ then expect them to bring...

...The BBQ!?

We were invited last week to a friends today for a BBQ. They called this morning asking to borrow our BBQ, we assumed there's had broken or the one they ordered hadn't arrived etc - but no. They don't have one. So we suggested they come to ours and bring some of the stuff they'd bought as our BBQ is very heavy and large (won't fit in the car without removing the child seats and lying all seats flat) but it turns out, that not only did they want us to bring our BBQ, they wanted us to leave it at theirs as they are having other friends this evening.

Was IBU to say no? That I didn't want to take our large BBQ and gas bottle to their house and leave it with them?

You didn’t ruin their BBQs because they didn’t bloody well throw a BBQ - they invited people round to their garden on the madcap expectation that you’d do all the hard work!

Glenda, you need to work on the insults, they really don't hit the mark, but they did make me larf!

I am now feeling guilty because I have my daughter's patio cleaner and still haven't used it.
Next on my list so I can return it with a nice bottle of gin.

No doubt it's "can I borrow your BBQ?" one week and then "can I borrow your husband for kinky sex things?" the next. And they'll both come back with scratched bodywork and a wheel missing. Don't trust that sort.

It is.

They did the whole "we aren't sure where it is" thing but DH held strong (it's a fucking gas cylinder, it's not easy to lose).

So it's back. It's no longer in test (despite them saying they'd get it tested in return for keeping it whilst I was pregnant) and missing the dust cap but it looks ok. We'll get it tested when we will go back to diving again.

The painting equipment is pretty much fit for the bin - rollers not cleaned, brushes with bristles sticking here there and everywhere but that's not a big issue. Shoes have not been returned, but I don't care.

DH said they were very prickly and rude when he collected it but at least it's all back now. They said we'd ruined their BBQs.

The thing Glenda, that anyone advanced searching your username can see that you aren’t actually the BBQ borrower. You’re just a very strange person who comes into threads and tries to make them about herself.

You can't "out" them when you don't say anything about them that is "outing".

If it isn't the way the OP described it then lots of people might change their minds. But you give no reason to consider a different scenario, your argument seems to be - she's not really good enough for us, so it's okay that someone acted entitled towards her.

You insinuate the OP hasn't told the whole truth and has maybe lied, yet you haven't even provided an alternative scenario might be interpreted as the BBQ asker not being entitled and cheeky.
