to think it's really cheeky to invite someone to a BBQ then expect them to bring...

...The BBQ!?

We were invited last week to a friends today for a BBQ. They called this morning asking to borrow our BBQ, we assumed there's had broken or the one they ordered hadn't arrived etc - but no. They don't have one. So we suggested they come to ours and bring some of the stuff they'd bought as our BBQ is very heavy and large (won't fit in the car without removing the child seats and lying all seats flat) but it turns out, that not only did they want us to bring our BBQ, they wanted us to leave it at theirs as they are having other friends this evening.

Was IBU to say no? That I didn't want to take our large BBQ and gas bottle to their house and leave it with them?

Who was asked by her friend to help her out of a spot....

Dot is no fun, her garden has no sun....

She got mad when she was not invited around for a Marks and Spencers cream bun.

The thing is if you wish to hold a bbq. But don’t actually own a bbq and are unable or willing to buy one, and need to borrow, then before you invite people you ask the person if you can borrow their bbq, if they say yes, you offer to collect say when it will be returned, then invite people.

Gas bbqs are also massive, ours is an eight burner so would need some dismantling to get on the car. But even a smaller one would need some manhandling to transport it. It’s certainly not something you just pop in the car.

Hoping OP @dotdashdashdash had such overwhelming MNers support
that she abs DH will be able to put up drawbridge for her CF/ (refit choosing beggar) "friends" and cut the fuckery chaff out of their lives

OP sounds kind abs generous and that she helps out her friends but these were something (selfish) else

When picking abs deciding who to keep as friends it is about give and take and equality and respect .
We get the friends we deserve

Hopefully OP abs her DH will be able to weed out selfish a-holes like this again but far quicker ... look how quickly we all spotted Glenda (whether she was a tr-o...l..l or not) but she was an a-hole that takes advantage of friends clearly too if she was in fact real

OP sounds lovely and will always end up with lovely friends that she decides to stick with as worthy nice friends. But she and DH can decide who is worth their time. Please don't lend out stuff, (if you don't get it back within two weeks in same condition then don't lend anything again.) please take this OP as an learning experience about how some people aren't worth your friendship, time nor generoirisity abs there are people out here that will encroach your life and do deserve if as their kindness matches yours . Don't settle for less
