I've put privacy film on the front room windows and he can't watch the world go by any more. He's sulking.

@HebeMumsnet

Morning, Cat Devastaters,

We've had a few requests for this thread to go into classics so we're going to move it there now.

Nice! This is the 'cutted up pear' thread of the cat world.
ILikeTheWineNotTheLabel · 16/04/2021 12:26

Zero paw prints on meow.com for me today. Don’t know why.

NatMoz · 16/04/2021 10:09

It's my birthday and i didn't appreciate my cat's dead mouse gift while I was on the phone. He even showed me how much fun it was by flicking it in the air, rugby tackling it, rolling around the carpet with it only for when it was time to give me the gift he wanted it for himself and ran around the house with it.

Notsoaccidentproneanymore · 16/04/2021 10:06

I told him to stop licking the plastic bag. I mean........ why do cats do that?

ChequerBoard · 16/04/2021 10:02

Cat devastation has reached new levels in our house today. We have committed the ultimate crime and had the (completely knackered and scratched bare in places) stair carpet removed.

This is just unacceptable. The pathetic sight of His Lorship gingerly hoping down stair by stair as he suffers the hard wood beneath his paws is hilarious heartbreaking.

Where are they supposed to manicure their nails now? Clearly none of the three scratching posts they have are in any way as good as the beloved stair carpet!

I dare not tell them that there will be no nice new carpet for them to ruin - the stairs are being clad in oak flooring in a couple of weeks.

@FurForksSake They do a good line in sighs don’t they?. I hope your dh has purchased a suitable bed.

Tilly20 · 16/04/2021 09:35

Hi cat devastated! Can I join in? My cats have stopped talking to me the past 2 days. They are 8 years old and although one is active, one has turned herself into a house cat. She's getting a bit chunky 🙈so I took the vets advice and have switched them on to food that is 3 times the price and better nutritionally and they won't eat it. A few little nibbles and then they're begging for their usual food. Anyone would think I was trying to poison them🙄

Has DH got a suitable cashmere jumper to donate as a bed for his furry Lordship? Only the best will do.

FurForksSake · 15/04/2021 21:15

Not me, but my DH. He washed my darling boy's bed. He has had it for 9 years and loves his bed. Unfortunately for caticusmaxipuss it is hairball season and he got some sick on his bed so my husband washed it while I was at work yesterday.

Cat watched his bed going round in the machine a little forlornly. Sadly the bed was pronounced dead a little while later and my husband disposed of it without it being seen by Cat.

Husband rushed out last night as soon as he could to buy a replacement. Cat is not accepting this new bed at all, husband is distressed at this.

So much devastation in the FFS household tonight. Cat is lying next to me on the sofa letting out the odd sigh.

nearlynermal · 15/04/2021 21:06

Big Nermalcat is satisfied with me at the moment. He couldn't reach a fat bluebottle on the curtain and I moved it within reach so he could do a workmanlike swat and snack.

Andithoughtiwasspecial · 15/04/2021 20:44

Shut the blinds so he could not see the birds ( in the dark) whilst he wasn't even in the room. Left the toilet seats down when he was thirsty and there were only two large bowls of fresh water available. 💧 had jam on my toast rather than marmite at breakfast so he didn't want to smell it and made a vegetarian dinner for the humans/ slaves. Today has been profoundly unacceptable and he is showing his displeasure by sitting in a tree in the garden facing away from the house and refusing to move.

ILikeTheWineNotTheLabel · 15/04/2021 09:18

Gave the OG a bowl of water whilst he was eating his chicken breakfast instead of an additional bowl of chicken.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 15/04/2021 08:37

@Toilenstripes

Oh wow, that’s bad. Showing the tin and letting them hear it open is all part of the ritual.
Like wine in a fancy restaurant?
toffeebutterpopcorn · 15/04/2021 08:37

All these fussy eaters! I saw a ‘thing’ on social media yesterday where a worried cat owner took their cat to the vets because they had lost a lot of weight.

After various tests the vet concluded that the cat was on hinger strike - because they didn’t like the cat food they were being fed.

And for once (being social media) I actually believed it!

MillyMoo1113 · 15/04/2021 07:58

I offended the white princess by refusing to let her show her arse to the camera during a meeting.

I offended the ginger ninja by removing a dead baby bird from him to place in the bin along with the other two that he had left me within the space of an hour.

nearlynermal · 15/04/2021 07:47

NermalCat is not so much angry as disappointed in me. I tried to fob him off with food that had been opened 5 seconds ago rather than showing him the tin like a sommelier and letting him hear the sound of the ring being pulled.

MidnightMeltdown · 12/04/2021 22:29

I've been trying to get my cats to eat higher quality cat food. This evening I was late with dinner and my girl was mewing to be fed. I put down some expensive, high meat content cat food instead of her favourite 'Felix as good as it looks'. She took one sniff, gave me the dirtiest look you've ever seen, and then stalked off, leaving her expensive cat food to dry up in the bowl.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 12/04/2021 21:02

idiotcat was not allowed out after his supper, but his sister was. I thought he had gone upstairs but no, he was waiting in the other room and came running into the kitchen when he heard the door closing behind her.

if he goes out in the evening he wont be in by bedtime and it's too cold, his sister will nick out, have a nosey and be back in 15 minutes.

He is lying on the stairs scowling thought the bannisters....if the sitting room door was open i might actually be a bit intimidated. :o :o

Wineisrequired · 12/04/2021 20:25

Working from home today and I pinched his blanket off the chair to put over my legs as I was cold. He sat on the arm of the chair looking so upset that I felt bad and gave it back 🤣

CoffeeRunner · 12/04/2021 20:12

I had a day off. This delayed breakfast from 5.30 to 7.30am.

The poor thing was forced to sit on my head & purr loudly to remind me of my error.

CongealedCrags · 12/04/2021 20:08

Firstly, the snow.
Secondly, he caught a rat at dinner time. We wouldn't let him bring the rat inside, so we were given a lovely display of torture as we attempted to eat. Except the performance went a bit wrong and the rat ran into the hedge and even 4 of us couldn't find it for him.

Mia184 · 12/04/2021 19:51

I did not let Micky out when two male blackbirds were fighting outside.

How have you devastated your cat today?
mathanxiety · 11/04/2021 20:46

heh = 'the'.
[sheesh]
